Absolutely the best!…read more For a small-town store, this is well stocked... and what they don't have on the shelf, they've always been able to get the next day (or two, for some of the bigger specialty items). The owner is very helpful, always seems to be there on weekdays, and if he doesn't know the answer to a specific how-to problem or hardware requirement, he's picked up the phone and asked someone he knows. Try to get THAT level of service in Surprise, Scottsdale, or Prescott...! The prices are reasonable, considering what that means these days... but the service is always excellent... the staff very amicable and friendly. Frankly speaking, successful hardware stores are like this... but this store should be a model for others to emulate -- and while I don't like spending money, I don't mind doing it here as I know I'm getting quality goods and service. One more thing: I'm a veteran, and I appreciate the courtesy they extend to me and to my military brothers and sisters. Thank you!

Went in purchase some exterior siding, and was given a price of $98.30 per sheet, excluding tax…read more Same item at Home Depot (excluding the discount offered to military, and taxes): $39.82. Less the military discount, $35.84. Do the math: at a nearly 300% higher price for the same item, this ISN'T a matter of logistics: this is avarice, simply predatory pricing at its worst. $98.30 at Johnson Lumber, $35.84 at Home Depot. No wonder why people hate this business. $98.30 -- $35.84 = $62.46. That different buys a LOT of diesel or gasoline. The owners of Johnson Lumber claim that they have higher costs of transportation. Bull. There aren't many lumber mills and steel fabrication plants in Arizona, and the same trains that bring in timber supplies to Arizona for Home Depot are the same ones for Johnson Lumber. The cost of nearly three times more can't be attributed to supply logistics, and the owners at Johnson Lumber are hoping you believe this lie that they have much higher transportation costs. In other words, they think their customers are ignorant AND stupid. The owners won't care until people wake up and say "NO!" to this greedy company and its owners, refusing to do business here, Johnson Lumber: even with spending a few gallons of gas, this company is the best reason to go elsewhere -- cheaper in the long run to drive even to Prescott to any number of far better-stocked stores that don't treat customers as prey: it's far less expensive to go into Surprise or North Gateway -- maybe preparing a list of things to buy at lower cost stores and driving 40 minutes to do it. This store gives greed a bad name, and -- forcing customers to shop in lower-cost towns -- ultimately hurts MOST other Wickenburg businesses. We have choices: this ISN'T ever going to be one of mine.

Great people to work with... but a little shy of stocks…read more Went in to purchase some spare tools and didn't find much variety, and what they had was very limited in depth. Still, it usually doesn't take long for them to get what you need if the item isn't in stock... just requires a second trip and a little waiting. True, I could order online, but that introduces a whole range of other problems: I purchased a $8900 item at Tractor Supply once and despite getting my debit card-issuer on the line to okay the purchase, Tractor Supply wanted me to go to some commercial credit lender for them to do a credit check on me... never understood that whole processL either my card is good, or it's not.

Good luck ordering anything here…read more Put in an order for about $2100 worth of welding gear, tanks, etc: offered to pay for the entire shipment, cash, debit or credit card, and was told not to worry about it. Stopped in a week later, and nothing had come in. Told to come back next Tuesday. The next Tuesday, nothing I'd ordered had come in. Told that shipments are received Tuesday mornings, and to come back next week. Same for the following Tuesday. Same for the next week. I finally got the idea, and went into Phoenix to order from a competitor. Got a phone call the next morning: all the gear I needed came in. Gave me a discount for paying cash. The discount paid for both round trips worth of gas for my truck. Lesson learned.
