Unfortunately many students have negative experiences during elementary and/or middle school. These stories sound similiar to ones I've heard from numerous students and parents about a lot of different schools. I have to make one point, if these yelpers learned "nothing" at Stewart k-8 my guess is they wouldn't have been able to swing it in high school let alone college! This is our fourth year at Stewart and we have a 2nd & a 5th grader there. Our teachers have been wonderful and the new principal (this is his 2nd year at Stewart) has made many positive changes. I have heard from other parents that we have some great middle school teachers. It's a shame to let one or two undesirable teachers destroy the reputation of many good and great teachers. Having a negative or positive school experience isn't just about what is "done" to you it's about being a positive motivated student along with having positive support at home and family members who are involved at the student's school. Many of us are so quick to "put blame" in this society. Sometimes these tough school experiences (which may be unpleasant and unnecessary) push us harder in life to do our best, producing college graduates maybe?!? I don't agree with this method but it does motivate some. I know because as a student I had some bad experiences and negative comments from teachers and other adults in my life. Those tough unpleasant times made me want to work harder and prove them all wrong! That being said, we want all of our students to experience creative and positive teaching methods not degrading, negative ones!
Like the previous Yelper and many others I'm sure, I struggled through middle school, high school and then through college. Guess what I didn't go to Stewart or any school in this district for that matter.
What I've learn in my 40+ years of life is being a martyr only makes you and everyone around you miserable. Become a positive role model for the students around you, maybe even the ones at Stewart?!? Stop trash talking and go make a difference in our schools!
Our kids love Stewart k-8 and have begged us to let them stay through 8th grade. They are intelligent, well rounded and happy students. No school is perfect. It takes hard work and dedication from, first and for most the family and the whole school community to help students be successful and to help make a school great!
Way more than I intended to write, oh well I got on a roll, lol!
