St. Joseph Catholic School has truly been such a blessing for our family!…read more After having a horrible experience with a nearby public school, we were fortunate enough to transfer our daughter to St. Joseph just three months into the school year. I was nervous about making such a big transition, but the teachers and students were absolutely amazing and so kind, welcoming, and supportive. She transitioned so beautifully, and we immediately felt like we were part of the St. Joseph family. I love this school so much that I now have two children attending, and soon we'll have our third joining as well! The sense of family, community, and belonging here is more than I could have ever hoped for. From Mrs. A who is the principal and office staff Elizabeth and Danielle to the teachers, room parents, and everyone in between, we have felt so welcomed and supported. I also absolutely love the way Father Geoffrey engages with the children during Mass. Mass is not just something the kids sit through, it's engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable for them. Father Geoffrey often visits the school and attends school events, which really helps strengthen that wonderful sense of community. We are so grateful we found St. Joseph Catholic School. It has been such a positive experience for our family, and I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this school and the people who make it so special.

My twins attended TK with Mrs. Berry, and we had a wonderful experience with her. She was incredibly loving, patient, and kind with both of my boys. They felt comfortable and cared for in her classroom, and I always felt that she genuinely knew and cared about them as individuals. We were very grateful to have her as their teacher during such an important first year of school. Throughout our years at the school, our children have had caring and attentive teachers who genuinely seem invested in their students and their well-being. We have always felt that our kids were safe, cared for, and known by their teachers, and they have been happy during their time here. Like any school, no experience is going to be perfect, and there have certainly been small things along the way that we may have handled differently. But whenever we have had a concern, we have felt comfortable communicating with the teachers and school and have found them receptive. Overall, we are grateful for the care our children have received and the relationships they have formed here. Based on our family's experience over multiple years and with multiple children, we would absolutely recommend the school to other families.

When I asked why, an employee told me it's because students from this school come in after dismissal and cause so much disruption that staff can't keep the restaurant open. Their words: students come in and "destroy everything." I didn't witness it myself, but the outcome is undeniable--a local business is shutting down during peak hours because of student behavior. That doesn't just reflect on the school. It speaks to a deeper lack of accountability--from leadership, and from parents. Kids don't act like this in a vacuum. This isn't about blaming teachers. But when behavior spills off campus and disrupts the community to this degree, something upstream is clearly failing. Right now, the surrounding neighborhood is left dealing with the consequences. Vote accordingly.

We appreciate that Stewart is a small school with an active PTA and parent community. Despite budget cuts that have impacted the entire WCCUSD district, Stewart's leadership has remained communicative and committed to building back and strengthening school culture. We made the decision to send our kids to Stewart because of the Dual Language Immersion program, and have not been disappointed- they both can read in Spanish and English and have been exposed to many cultural experiences that they would not otherwise have been.

My daughter also goes to Stewart and had the same teachers as he did. She is in 3rd grade with a truly great teacher, Maestra Reyes, and also excelling. The culture at the school is what drew us there. It's very inclusive and friendly. The PTA and admin staff hold events for the community to come together including academic nights, community potlucks and movie nights. Since this is a TK-8 school the students get to stay on the same campus making the transition to middle school a breeze. Stewart is a true gem in Pinole!

This is an excellent christian school which our kids need and their education is amazing. Its a safe, loving and God fearing environment who put God, the kids and education as a top priority. To those who read Laurie M. review she is a complusive liar with major anger issues. She reviewed them negatively because the school wouldnt force me to leave a parking spot so she can have it. Which sounds crazy but it is the truth. She lied about the pastor and the staff whom she only met once to ask him to make me move and calls everyone ignorant when she doesnt get her way. Clearly she has serious anger issues and needs Jesus. Today she blocked me in forcing me to contact the school to talk to her. I am glad her son is in 8th grade graduating so I dont have to deal with her next year. If she would have asked me like a normal person to please move and explained why, I would have, instead she flipped me off and blocked me with her car. Again please do not let her post steer you in the wrong direction if you are looking for a Christian school to put your young kids in. I believe this is one of the best schools that the bay area has to offer. Thanks goodness for them.

I am only giving this high school based on MY personal experience…read more I came to this high school my Senior year (my parents moved cities during my last year of high school). Needless to say didn't think much of the change until the school year actually started. I didn't think much of the school but quickly realized that the office staff wasn't really nice, neither was the library staff. Hate the vice principil and main principal (always thought he was the IN thing). The class selections weren't that great (but what can I expect for a public school). But I managed to get into the classes that I wanted , so that was a good thing. The lockers were dirty and locked inside a cage next to the locker rooms, which were also dirty. Hated how the lockers were outside. The gym and the cafeteria were about the only cleanest buildings in the whole school. My AP English class had occasional ants in because there was a culinary classroom next door (which obviously didn't do a very good job of cleaning after class), My Math class had old computers which more often than not didn't work and were so outdated that we could easily find a proxy to get onto social networking sites during class (which at the time was cool). lol The campus grounds itself had occasional trash (like normal schools), running track was always clean and off limits (unless you were with a coach or teacher), and bathrooms were always locked (you were lucky if you found one unlocked. During the summer AC was awesome but during the winter it was freezing! The school itself doesn't have a swimming pool (it is located in the community center across the street from the school), the high school side had plenty of parking (but not on the 1st floor), the 1st floor was for seniors to park and the 2nd floor was for Juniors to park (which few had cars). At the end of my school year, I managed to like the school, made good friends and had my favorite teachers. NOT my favorite school. Miss my old high school and I would have much rather stayed and graduated with my class. Oh and orientation and traffic in the mornings and after school are horrible. Get there early to get on time to class and to find parking (those students who have cars), also forgot to mention, be prepared to ALWAYS wear your high school lanyard around your neck. That by far was the most annoying,

This place doesn't nurture students--it chews them up, spits them out, and then acts confused when everyone is miserable. The environment is unsafe, hostile, and emotionally suffocating, like being trapped in a building that feeds on stress and despair. And the deans? Absolutely useless. These people are supposedly authority figures, yet they operate with the urgency, awareness, and competence of broken office furniture. They don't help students--they dodge responsibility like it's their full‑time job. Bring them a serious issue and you'll get indifference, excuses, or silence. Their idea of "support" is doing nothing and hoping the problem magically disappears. It's honestly impressive how consistently they fail at the bare minimum. The entire school runs on neglect. Students feel ignored, disrespected, and completely unsafe, while the administration pretends everything is fine. Morale is nonexistent. Motivation is dead. Every single day drains you more than the last, until you're just existing, not learning. Making Waves doesn't prepare you for success--it prepares you for burnout. If this place were reviewed honestly, it wouldn't even deserve one star. It's a soul‑sucking joke of an institution that should be studied as an example of how badly a school can fail its students. And as if it wasn't bad enough, the school lets big people in the school.
