Went to a Football Game September 8, 2017. We bought tickets and later it got cold! So my wife when to the gate. They told you can't just keep coming in and now you need to re-purchase another ticket! I said are you kidding me it's cold! But I see they let everybody else in and out except me! I feel like it was a racist issue! Very unhappy! I hope DONT GET SICK! They need to handle this issue better not selective people that could come in and out of the game! BAD SERVICE! Parents dont get caught up in the so called nice neighborhood. Traffic is terrible up and down the road. This is an awful school. Too many Teachers here are unaccountable. Omg they are terrible. I should list you all by name but won't for now. Principle has zero power or at least likes to act like it. My child has felt harassed and bullied by this faculty and students. This place will change your child for the worse. Several parents have taken their kid out if this school. Kids are not learning and are not happy here. Wish I wouldn't have sent my child here. I am only giving this high school based on MY personal experience. I came to this high school my Senior year (my parents moved cities during my last year of high school). Needless to say didn't think much of the change until the school year actually started. I didn't think much of the school but quickly realized that the office staff wasn't really nice, neither was the library staff. Hate the vice principil and main principal (always thought he was the IN thing). The class selections weren't that great (but what can I expect for a public school). But I managed to get into the classes that I wanted , so that was a good thing. The lockers were dirty and locked inside a cage next to the locker rooms, which were also dirty. Hated how the lockers were outside. The gym and the cafeteria were about the only cleanest buildings in the whole school. My AP English class had occasional ants in because there was a culinary classroom next door (which obviously didn't do a very good job of cleaning after class), My Math class had old computers which more often than not didn't work and were so outdated that we could easily find a proxy to get onto social networking sites during class (which at the time was cool). lol The campus grounds itself had occasional trash (like normal schools), running track was always clean and off limits (unless you were with a coach or teacher), and bathrooms were always locked (you were lucky if you found one unlocked. During the summer AC was awesome but during the winter it was freezing! The school itself doesn't have a swimming pool (it is located in the community center across the street from the school), the high school side had plenty of parking (but not on the 1st floor), the 1st floor was for seniors to park and the 2nd floor was for Juniors to park (which few had cars). At the end of my school year, I managed to like the school, made good friends and had my favorite teachers. NOT my favorite school. Miss my old high school and I would have much rather stayed and graduated with my class. Oh and orientation and traffic in the mornings and after school are horrible. Get there early to get on time to class and to find parking (those students who have cars), also forgot to mention, be prepared to ALWAYS wear your high school lanyard around your neck. On september 27th, I attended a JV and Var volleyball game. Hungry for some food I believed that I could turn to the Hell's kitchen booth. First, the food was overpriced and very cheap, a cup noodles. I felt very discriminated against because they served me last even though I ordered first and acknowledged it. I finally got the cup noodles and it was very disappointing! The water was cold!! Facing the poor customer service and wait, I was unsatisfied. The worker in the black shirt should be fired. Will not be recommending to my friends and will not be coming back until next Friday or the next volleyball game. Though I placed my order very early, I was given a SPOON to eat NOODLES because they gave away the forks to others. Overall this was a very unhappy experience. read more

My son is thriving at Hercules Middle School. The Principal is extraordinary. The district recognized the need for a separation between the middle school and high school and brought in Renee Lama. She has brought positive change to this school. The office staff is busy, however always make time to help. The teachers are committed to the education of the kids and have a passion for their subject. My son has grown leap years in an environment that is building independence and confidence for rigorous academic years to come. There is campus security that reminds kids to make good choices and have had no reports of bullying, which is a welcomed change! read more

Coming to the end of our first year and very pleased with teachers, staff, students and most of all our Principal. She is respected by all, she is at ease, self-confident, approachable and leads with a parent mindset. The long list of electives gives each student the opportunity to build their own natural​gifts and try new subjects. Music program is very strong and teacher shares her passion in a unique teaching style to blend all levels of experience. They have many clubs including Makers Club with access to 3D and laser printers, new student computers issued to every student next year. My son has grown beyond measure at HMS, it's a phenomenal Middle school. read more

Im giving this school a bad review for allowing a volleyball coach this year 2017-2018 to mess up a great volleyball team that was honed for greatness in the last 4years. Coach Nyema Taylor is the worst coach that ever stepped foot in that school. My daughter is one of the seniors she mistreated. She created so much drama with the team. First of all what kind of coach throws a fit acting like a child just sitting there and not encouraging her team when the team is losing. Its part of the game! She made them practice 5days a week for 3 hours to the point where kids get overwhelmed because they have to juggle their extra curricular and academics just to show their dedication. There were times she would let them practice on their own because she was angry at them for losing. She made the parents pay $175 for volleyball gear that we never ever have to pay in the past but since the kids wanted to be in the team the parents agreed to pay thinking that this will all pay off in the end anyway. Money is no object when you know your kid is dedicated to the sport I guess. Coach Taylor was all drama. Senior night came there were 9 seniors that they gave tribute to since it will be the last game in HS. My daughter begged me to email the coach that she needed start with her college apps and concentrate on SAT's review and if its ok to not play the last game after senior night (which they won by the way). I emailed her and she emailed me back that it was fine. Volleyball season ended and my daughter was relieved that she got that out of her plate and really concentrate on academics and the rest of her busy life as a senior. Little did she know that excusing herself from playing her last game in Volleyball will come back to haunt her. Yearbook pics came a long and they we're all invited back to take professional pics for the team. The girls got dressed in their Volleyball uniform (that we paid $175 for) just for 5 of the seniors to get embarrassed, yelled at and kicked out because apparently Coach Taylor don't want them in it!!! My daughter was very upset that the 4 years that she worked so hard for this team is being manipulated by this cruel bitch of a coach (for lack of a better word). Not sure how she allowed the other 4 seniors and not the other 5 girls. Yearbook is a big deal especially for seniors and not allowing them to be in the " Team Photo" for some childish reasons is unacceptable!!!! This bad review for this school is targeted for her but I hope the school would be more involved in their sports program to not allow these types of people to get their students mistreated like she did. This school is ghetto! The administration allows kids from Richmond to take over the population and culture. When residents of Hercules who are most likely paying property taxes to fund it do not get much say in this matter. Now this may sound classist, please don't get me wrong. I grew up poor and in the ghetto, but I persevered to get out and eventually buy a home as a single mother. I picked Hercules because it has a great elementary school, Hanna Ranch. But when he reached middle school age it was another world where bullying ensued and was apathetically permitted by the administration. His absences increased and grades failed, and the teachers pointed the finger at him and me even knowing about the constant bullying from these kids, who are so worried about what shoes you have and what elite socks you have. Ridiculous! He became increasingly depressed to where I had to pull him out and home school him in the middle of the school year! So with that said, until the administration stops letting the Richmond kids in to take over, you should either move out of Hercules, pay for a private school, or try a charter school, but please do not expose your child to such a hostile environment. read more

I started going to this school back in 2001 and in 2007, i finally graduated. Between those years, the school was still under construction when they say, "New School Opens In 2001". The gym on Middle School was only half completed, the cafeteria was half painted on the Middle and High School. There weren't enough classroom to accommodate students along with desks. Student and staff parking lots weren't big enough too. I heard they were going to build two 5 level parking lots across the street, each level to accommodate at least 400 cars, but that didn't happen. Now that i have graduated, they finally completed all the projects on the list except for the two 5 level parking lot due to money budget and now as i go there to visit, it's like a jail-house with 6 to 7ft high fence surrounding the entire school. read more
