Great customer service! The smoked tritip sandwich comes with sautéed onion and bell peppers!!…read moreProbably the best tritip sandwich I've ever had!! Lots of sausage to select from and they even sell steaks and chicken too! So delicious with such a great selection of items!! I'll be back and will be bringing friends too!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!

I stopped by Wolfsen's Meat and Sausage in Gustine and was immediately impressed by their…read moreselection. They have more varieties of sausage than I have ever seen. I picked up some chicken artichoke, a beer sausage, and a smoked maple. The smoked maple was outstanding and easily my favorite. The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. They greeted me right away and asked what I wanted to order, which I always appreciate. I also decided to try a brisket sandwich, which looked too good to pass up. The brisket itself was very good and full of flavor. That said, I am someone who pays close attention to food handling. I tend to notice when gloves are used as a substitute for proper hygiene rather than an added layer of protection. Unfortunately, that showed up here. The employee making my sandwich handled a large magic marker to write something, then immediately went back to preparing food without changing gloves. That is always disappointing to see. Because of that, I ended up eating more of the meat and less of the bread, but the quality of the brisket still stood out. I did take a picture of my brisket sandwich, but the picture did not do it justice, so I decided not to post it. Overall, there is a lot to like here, especially the incredible sausage selection and the friendly service. I would definitely come back to try the tri-tip sandwich. I just hope the magic maker disappears.

First impressions, the signage fits the downtown well, and is visible enough that makes them easy…read moreto find in downtown Gustine. Seating area consists of 3 tables, and they've got one of those mini arcade games for the kiddos as well. Overall pretty small dining area but Gustine isn't a big city so didn'texpect a ton of seating. Menu is displayed on a couple of monitors in the wall as you come in. The pasta is cooked in an open kitchen right behind the counter as you order. Pretty neat to be able to watch them make your order. Ordered the Volcanic Fettuccine because who doesn't like a spicy Italian dish right? Got it in a bread bowl with added chicken so cost was just shy of 20 bucks because of the upgrades. Didn't end up eating on site because it was really close to closing time for them and didn't want to be "that guy" so took my order home. The fettuccine was really good, cooked well, and the sauce was actually spicy. Not as spicy as I was hoping it would be, but it did have a nice kick. I'd definitely have it again. Overall, nice family run place with home made pasta. Would have ordered a pizza, but they ran out of pizza dough, since it is house made they don't have any extra in the fridge/freezer like you'd expect at a lot of places. If you are in the Gustine area looking for some really good home made pasta check them out. Definitely worth the drive.

Oh my goodness. I have seen this place on other TikToks and decided to go visit. The restaurant is…read moreonly open 5 hours Tuesday- Saturday and is quite small. I decided to try the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken in a bread bowl and hubby had volcanic fettuccine with chicken. The chicken and Alfredo were seasoned. Unlike other places where everything is so bland. I cannot recommend Pasta 209 enough. If you are ever in Gustine between 3-8, stop by and give it a try! It is yummy!!!!

So, my sister is on these mommy bulletin boards, where mothers can give each other new and exciting…read morethings to freak out about. One of their topics was the wonder of of grass-fed beef. "Oh, all natural wonderful grass-fed beef." So, my mom decided to split a half-steer with some friends, and fill her freezer with beef for 8 bucks a pound. Let me just say as a person who has cooked with and eaten this stuff, it's been a huge disappointment. I'll air my grievances from least-to-most disturbing. Firstly, the meat distribution is not accurate. Out of a whole freezer there was 4 teeny steaks from the tenderloin. There was 1 package of 3 weirdly cut New Yorks, and there was 1 rib steak. The rest is mostly chuck, rump, and TONS of ground beef. Ground beef up the ying-yang. As the steaks come frozen and must last in the freezer for a long time, it was very surprising to see the meat horribly packaged. Thin, flimsy "vacuum" bags are sealed poorly, so none of them are either water or air proof. This is what gives your food freezer-burn. Gimme a freakin' break! Taste and texture are extremely lacking. Blah, blah, blah, grass-fed. I don't feel nearly a great enough sense of self-satisfaction to offset the utter crappiness of this meat. The tenderloin was tough...enough said. Everything was also too lean to braise. Total rip. The final and most disturbing thing is the fact that they under-weighed every thing by 2 ounces. Every single ground beef package that I have used weighs 14 ounces, with a 1lb label on it. They really are willing to pinch your ground beef sack, man...that's just cold. So let's just recap here. 8 bucks a pound for mostly ground beef. Poorly trimmed and packaged meat. Shoe-leather tough meat. Lying and shorting customers in an underhanded way. Should you give them your money? Absolutely freakin' not.
