So, as you're driving down the I-5 and looking for a place to get delicious sandwiches, this is the perfect spot! And, while you're there, stock up on wide variety of handcrafted sausages, brats, beef sticks, bacon, marinated meats, dry rubs and more! We brought an insulated bag with ice packs to put them in. We grabbed some for family we were visiting in Sacramento and stopped again on our way back home to stock up. We tried the Brisket and Ribeye sandwiches. The bread got soft fast, maybe a little too soft. They were both hot sandwiches so not sure if it was from a little too much bbq sauce, juices from the meat or how it's wrapped. The brisket and ribeye were tender and juicy. I liked the Ribeye a little more since it had mushrooms, bell peppers and onion. I would have liked the bread to be more toasty since we ate the sandwiches there. But, that's my preference; I love more texture in my food. Loved the variety of sausages, brats and beef sticks that we got. The bacon was a lot thinner than we're used to. We bought lots of their dry Wolfsen's seasoning since it's one of my bf's favorites! I loved that the beef sticks that weren't too oily and very tasty. I wish we had gotten more of them! The sausages were so flavorful!! We tried them in a variety of dishes. We really liked the Smoked Blueberry Bratwurst, Smoked Andouille Sausage, Smoked Chuckwagon sausage, Cajun Style Smoked Sausage and Smoked German Pork Sausage.

The variety is amazing here, if there were a zombie apocalypse head over here. From fresh produce and meat to boots and propane. Service at the taqueria in the back to the checkout up front was polite and quick, though we did get some second glances for being old white folk but it's most definitely a Hispanic store and that's exactly what we needed. We ordered a couple burritos, one with ham and egg the other with just eggs rice and beans. Both were good enough and filling but nothing really special about them to brag. We grabbed a few pastries before we left which are made in-house and they were delicious. Last words...zombie apocalypse.

There was no line at the carneceria and the butcher was quick to help us when we went up to the meat counter. Carneceria Meats Purchased: Short-ribs, Carne Asada (marinated) I know that you can't control how fatty the ribs are at times but they gave us very good pieces of short-ribs where we didn't have to trim them too much nor did we have to throw pieces away due to the fat. Asada was average price ($16.99) but it was very good Their tomatillo salsa was so good. Perfectly spicy. Their chicharrones were also a hit. I was able to pick up every thing we needed for a quick BBQ. Tortillas, tomatoes, beer...it was nice to have a market so small, have it all. Def will be back.

Seating area consists of 3 tables, and they've got one of those mini arcade games for the kiddos as well. Overall pretty small dining area but Gustine isn't a big city so didn'texpect a ton of seating. Menu is displayed on a couple of monitors in the wall as you come in. The pasta is cooked in an open kitchen right behind the counter as you order. Pretty neat to be able to watch them make your order. Ordered the Volcanic Fettuccine because who doesn't like a spicy Italian dish right? Got it in a bread bowl with added chicken so cost was just shy of 20 bucks because of the upgrades. Didn't end up eating on site because it was really close to closing time for them and didn't want to be "that guy" so took my order home. The fettuccine was really good, cooked well, and the sauce was actually spicy. Not as spicy as I was hoping it would be, but it did have a nice kick. I'd definitely have it again. Overall, nice family run place with home made pasta. Would have ordered a pizza, but they ran out of pizza dough, since it is house made they don't have any extra in the fridge/freezer like you'd expect at a lot of places. If you are in the Gustine area looking for some really good home made pasta check them out. Definitely worth the drive.

The store is always clean and the staff is always friendly -- although perhaps a little too friendly. It's a small town, everyone knows each other, so occasionally, checker chatter slows your exit. That's certainly not a deal breaker for me, but I have noticed people in line looking a little frustrated as talk turns to babies, family and etc... The produce and meat departments are outstanding and the rest of the store is always stocked and well organized. The store is on par with the Nob hill in Livermore and the Raley's in Turlock. And considering Nob Hill is effectively the only legit grocery store within a 10 or 15 mile radius, the City of Newman is lucky to have them.

This review is strictly for the new Golden Dragon Chinese takeout within the Newman Food Store…read more Located right off Fresno Street in Downtown Newman, the Golden Dragon is newly installed within the grocery store, and rivals nearby Good Times. This place is like a condensed Panda Express, with chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, kung pow chicken, and broccoli beef as their mains. There are egg rolls and chicken wings as well as a variety of boba drinks. You can order plates (one entree + two sides) or you can even order catering. We ordered: - Plate of chow mein with double orange chicken - Taro and mango smoothies with boba/mango popping, respectively The SO is a chow mein faithful. Unfortunately, this version was not up to par (compared to PandEx). He also said the orange chicken was only OK and very saucy/less meaty. I tried a bit of both and was underwhelmed. The drinks we had were great! Boba had a good chew. Service is really nice! They do move like concrete, though. Currently, if you purchase a plate, you can either get a bottle of water or a toy (I suppose for the kiddos). We got both LOL! Overall, glad Good Times now has opps because they're terrible, but this Chinese food place is only slightly better than them. I am giving 1 extra star for being in a really well-stocked grocery store. The food itself gets 2 stars.
