I am crafting this review in the effort to give a recommendation of the highest regard to Stewart Sweet and his team at RPM mortgage. I reached out based on a recommendation from someone who has in the past, completed transactions with Stew Sweet and his team. At the time I took the recommendation just as given. As it turned out Stew and team not only proved out to be everything that had been conveyed to me, they were so much more. My event was clearly an equine situation that required more dedication than your average transaction. Stew went to work in a professional manner, inclusive of clear concise communication throughout the entire process. The follow up and support from the team (Teya & Gabby) was always presented in a timely, professional, polite manner. I fully acknowledge the extra efforts and leg work put in by the RPM team on the behalf of me and my family. In the end my family is in a better place as a result of the trust I placed in Steward Sweet and his team of professionals. I would like to extend a sincere thank you to each person at RPM Mortgage for going above and beyond. I highly recommend this team for any Mortgage transaction in your future. read more

Stew and his fantastic team recently helped me through a rather tough financial crisis. I desperately needed to refinance my home to resolve some debt. They made what easily could have been a nightmare experience, bearable for me. I cannot express enough the efficiency of this RPM team- they don't miss a beat!! Stew and team are amazingly responsive, organized and they are truly the best at what they do. They are experts in their craft. And, to add to the experience, they are all so pleasant and sympathetic. I would recommend RPM, especially Stew to any family member or friend of mine with absolute confidence that they will get the best RATE & that the process will be simple. THANK YOU STEW, TEYA AND GABBY FOR HELPING ME AND MY FAMILY! read more

Stew was incredibly helpful and professional in working with me to obtain my new home loan. With Stew's help the process was quick, easy and painless. Stew was always available to answer my questions either on the phone or via email. I was always informed about the next steps, what was needed of me and the projected time of completion. I would highly recommend Stew Sweet. Thanks again Stew! Michelle read more

We were recommended to Stew & Chet at RPM by our Redfin agent and it did not disappoint. The whole pre-approval, approval, and funding process went swimmingly. With Stew's help we were able to get pre-approved and waive our loan & appraisal contingencies. This really helped make our offers more enticing to sellers. During the final approval and funding process, Stew & his team were so awesome that we ended up closing early! There were over 100 e-mails back and forth between us in the 2.5 weeks leading up to loan funding and we always got a quick response. If you are in the process of buying a home, RPM is a great local lender that'll help you close. There has to be a special shoutout to Daina. She was super helpful in deciphering our finances and getting all of the appropriate documentation needed for final approval of the loan. read more

Stew and his whole team at RPM were so helpful and extremely responsive from the first day we walked in the door saying "Uhh...we...think we want to start looking to buy a house...how does this all work?" up until the day we closed. Stew, specifically, seems to have a real passion for this type of work and was always willing to explain things (sometimes a couple different times) and work through different loan scenarios with us. RPM Mortgage was recommended to us by a friend who was adamant that who you use as a mortgage broker when buying a house, particularly in this bonkers housing market, really matters and can even make a real difference in the strength of your offers. As a complete novice I just sort of took my friend's word for it, but now I think I get it. Stew and RPM put in the work ahead of time so that their name has become respected in this area in a way that walking in off the street into a Wells Fargo will never be. read more

Our agent, Cheryl Berger, recommended Stew and his team to us, as we were looking for a lender to purchase our first home. Stew and his team were a perfect fit: local, friendly and straight-forward. Throughout the process Strew, Teya and team educated us on the steps of the process, the documentation requirements and set expectation of all closing costs. Once we found the home, they worked diligently to make sure the close happened on a time and even made recommendations on how to get a better interest rate. Even though the process of providing all documents requested was a bit tedious on our end, RPM was patient with us and helped us stay on task with reminders, clarifications and answering any questions we had. We highly recommend RPM to any new home-owner who is looking for a lender. read more

Stew and his team are AWESOME!! 1) He is a really nice guy and 2 )he is a closer. We closed our loan in 3 weeks as promised no delays no issues. His team is on top of it and will deliver. Definitely will use again and will recommend to anyone. read more

I worked with Stew getting an investment property refinanced. The amount of time and effort that Stew and his team provided to get me a great deal and get the paperwork in place was amazing. During the process his and RPM's patience made it clear that they valued and wanted my business. I highly recommend Stew and his Berkeley team at RPM. read more

Stew Sweet of RPM mortgage was terrific. He not only got our loan funded, but he was able, with RPM, to get us a significantly better rate than a competitor. He was easy to work with, always called back. I recommend him very highly. We have bought investment property over the years and I have never had someone as good before. read more

Where to begin? Stew and crew along with our amazing realtor (Cheryl Berger) were absolutely the reason that we were able to figure out purchasing our first home. Stew was able to explain our loan options so the very overwhelming and scary process didn't seem so scary and overwhelming. THEN when we had to take out another loan to do some unplanned but structurally important work on the house, Stew walked us through all scenarios and we will now be able to proceed with the project and still be able to eat! Ha! The team was prompt, professional, and exceedingly helpful. THANK YOU STEW AND CREW! read more

I recently used this mortgage company for a condo I purchased with my wife and sister in law. None of us were in the market and we kind of stumbled on our dream home and decided to buy it. We were not pre-approved and had to scramble to get our financing in order. We used RPM on the recommendation of our real estate agent. Monica Di Perna was our assigned mortgage broker. After submitting all of our paperwork to Monica, we asked about receiving a better interest rate than the one she quoted. My brother in law recently purchased a home and said his mortgage broker could get us a better rate. Monica replied that if she saw another mortgage broker running our credit, she would stop her team from working on our application and her company would not give us a loan. Because of our last minute decision to buy a home and the time that had passed since submitting our application to RPM, we could not afford to take the chance of RPM dropping our application. I felt that Monica took advantage of us in this situation. She knew we were in a time crunch and thoroughly exploited it. When we purchased our home using RPM, my wife and I owned a property as did my sister in law. We each sold our properties shortly after this purchase and used the money to refinance with a different lender. During the refinance, we were contacted by Stew Sweet - the branch manager of RPM. He received a request for documentation from our new lender. He reached out to us stating that he and his team would lose the compensation they received on our loan as a penalty from the bank. Apparently this happens if your loan is open less than 6 months. Stew informed us that our loan could be "recast" as opposed to refinanced. This option meant that we would have kept our same interest rate. This would have cost us tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the loan. When Stew reached out to us, we informed him of Monica's behavior. He was very apologetic and stated he would speak with her. We informed Stew that we had made it known to Monica we each owned a house and would be selling it shortly after our new home purchase. Why this wasn't taken into consideration prior to receiving our loan is still unclear. To Stew's credit he did offer us a free refinance. However, he attempted to have us recast our loan rather than refinance with a different lender so that he and his team would receive their compensation while we would be out tens of thousands of dollars. I found this to be unprofessional and unethical. I am shocked that a mortgage broker would behave this way. Steer clear of these people. read more

Stew made the mortgage side of my home buying experience so much easier than it would have been with anyone else. He found money for me that no one else knew existed. He listened to me when I told him how much money I had to work with for the sale, and he worked some serious mortgage magic, allowing me to close with cash to spare. He was so easy to work with, always very responsive, and worked into the night several times on my behalf. He and my realtor made it possible to close quickly, and he made something that could have been terribly stressful much much less so. If you need a mortgage broker, Stew is your guy! read more

Stew and his team are the best. I had a very difficult purchase and loan and they fought tooth and nail to get me in my home and did.

Stew and his team at RPM have helped save me and my wife thousands of dollars on the life of our mortgage. They are always happy to respond to any questions we have had no matter what day or time it was, and take great care in answering those questions fully. We have refinanced with them twice and definitely plan to do so again. Our mortgage is literally $500/month lower than when we bought our house 2 years ago. They definitely make the process easy and mitigate the stress involved. read more

Stew and team provided great service and a great experience, simplifying and taking much of the stress out of our home purchase. We made multiple offers and had to consult stew at odd hours, or with almost no time to delay, and Stew came through every time. I cannot image going through the process with anyone else, will definitely be a return customer if the need ever arises! read more

Where do I begin.. If I could give Stew and his team more stars it would be a pleasure, they made this much easier than I anticipated, always available and willing to answer questions with without hesitation. I cant imagine this process with anyone else. TEAM STEW read more

Buying a home in the Bay Area is emotionally stressful as it comes. Stew and his amazing team, including Gabby, Monica and Monalynn, made the process as smooth as it could possibly be. We were really blown away by their on-the-ball responsiveness. I remember telling my husband at one point..."Does Stew's team ever sleep?". Even when we had a few hiccups with our financing, Stew was the voice of calm and reason and really came through for us at the 11th hour to make sure everything came together. It was also really eye-opening to see firsthand the difference it made working with an ultra-local team who is highly respected in the East Bay. I noticed that when sellers/agents heard we were working with Stew at RPM, it was very advantageous because of his team's stellar reputation. When a seller/agent is more inclined to work with a particular broker, that says something! read more

Stew doesn't really need another review but I think I need to leave one, for myself. We met Stew at a home buying info session, he was just there to answer initial questions about financing. He was knowledgeable and patient, and had some great ideas. When we found our real estate team (Locally Real- Red Oak), we mentioned meeting and being impressed with Stew to them and one of the agents said she had actually just used him for her own home and had a great experience. Still cautious, we ran our numbers by several other recommendations. While most people knew their stuff, Stew was responsive, respectful, and complete in his replies in ways that other brokers did not even compare. When we were ready to start putting down offers, this is when this responsiveness really matters. We put down several offers back to back within a matter of days/weeks (it's a tough market ya'll), and he always had our next letter ready with individual recommendations for each house/market. Once we had an offer accepted, Stew was clear, firm, and insistent. Thanks to Stew, we had the keys to our new home within 2 weeks! I highly recommend working with Stew and RPM. read more

My husband and I recently worked with Stew on our first home purchase. The process was scary but Stew made it very simple and straightforward. I can't believe how fast the closing was -- 21 days as promised! I think having RPM as our lender gave us an advantage in our purchase as well. Stew was responsive, offered times that were outside of normal business hours when we needed that and was all around a great guy. Thank you, Stew!! read more

Stew Sweet and his team have my highest recommendation. We used RPM based on our realtor's suggestion. As a first time home buyer, I was appreciative of Stew's patience in walking me through the process and answering questions. He and his team were quick and responsive to emails and phone calls and made sure everything was taken care of on all ends. I later had an issue in setting up an escrow account for the home we purchased and Stew was quick to offer joining me on a conference call to help me figure things out. We plan to use RPM mortgage again in the future. read more

Stew recently helped us with purchasing our first home. From pre-approval to funding, Stew and his team were consummately professional, meticulous and incredibly available. We were working with a tight schedule, Stew and his team were amazingly efficient and very supportive, making the entire process as smooth and stress-free as possible. Stew, in particular, was super resourceful in proactively resolving (and anticipating) potential speed-bumps along the way. We'd absolutely recommend their services and would gladly work with them in the future! read more

Stew is great to work with. We've bought a house with RPM and also gone through a refi. Both processes were great. Would definitely recommend these guys. read more

In every interaction, Stew and his team were incredibly responsive and thoughtful. They provided all the detail we were looking for, were always happy to crunch and rerun permutations to help us figure out what we could afford, and were always on the ball. Stew patiently explained and educated us about different implications and helped us know what was coming at every turn of the process. It seems strange to rave about your mortgage broker, and if you are looking for a mortgage, Stew is the one you want on your team. We could not be more grateful. read more

Initially, I was drawn to some of the "no-cost" refinance advertisements, but I did my due diligence to of course be reminded that nothing is free. Stew, Monica and their crew made my loan process painless and quick. They are professionals in every sense of the word. Rather than simply be identified by a loan number and talk to some web loan company with a processing center in Des Moines, Iowa, I instead experienced RPM's personal service with my own loan officer and a team of their associates that were without failure, always attentive, endlessly helpful, patient and pleasant. (Thanks also to Gabby, one of their amazing loan facilitators.) During any loan process, you are providing the lender with incredibly sensitive and private information. RPM is worthy of such confidence. If I had a question, they provided quick responses with detailed information. RPM went the extra mile for me as I'm sure they do for each of their clients. When you feel warm and fuzzy towards your loan company, you know they have to be exceptional. Thank you Stew, Monica, Gabby and the rest of the staff at RPM!! read more

Everyone we came in contact with through RPM was professional and very responsive. Definitely recommend this whole office team.

We had a great experience with Stew and his team. We closed on our house in 23 days. They were very responsive and helpful. I would definitely recommend them! read more

Reading the comments published by the other makes me think that they maybe friends or relatives of Stew, as I had a totally different experience with him and the company. First, it took them a long time between the ermail and it just seemed like they do not care. They were very "Salesman" type and positive at the beginning, but after they charged me a substantial amount of money for an appraisal and having me wait for over TWO months for getting an answer of "sorry but...". I do not know why these incompetent people opened an office in Berkeley, they just create a bad reputation for mortgage professionals, just go back to your village in the 925 area code. read more
