If you have ever tried looking for good pizza in Manila, you know that the search can be a long and frustrating one. Though pizza is not an uncommon food item here, the Manila pizza does not resemble the Western pizza in any way. Made of cheese food, and luncheon meat, the Manila pizza is often bready and very sweet.
Fortunately, Manila is also a giant melting pot. As the local population becomes more affluent, Manila is more ready to welcome first world foods, made with first world ingredients, at first world prices). Steveton's Pizza is one such recent entrant.
The Steveston's Pizza would not look out of place in an American town. Its pizzas are loaded with cheese and tomato sauce. Order the Marguerite Two and you will also get bocconcini, garlic and basil. Want something really heavy? Go for the Caveman, a pie weighed down by pepperoni, bacon, salami and beef. Other pies have decidedly non-standard (for a Filipino) ingredients like smoked salmon and arugula. Each pizza is made to order and you can watch the pizzaiolo make your pie while you wait.
