Highly recommend Steve for small engine repair. He fixed my lawnmower completely, and it was a mess, and then rush fixed my snowblower before one of these big storms. He picked the equipment up and dropped it off, was responsive, and very reasonably priced. I will use him again for sure. read more

I found this service online and was curious to try. I had a snowblower that had a few issues and needed some maintenance done. Steve was very responsive. I had no way of transporting my snowblower to his shop so he offered to pick it up the same day and return it when the work was done. He was able to diagnose any issues that there was and also made any recommendations that were needed. The pricing was very reasonable. It's a small shop so only cash or check is accepted. I am very pleased with the service I got and will definitely be calling Steve again in the future. read more

Steve's Small Engine Repair - Farm Equipment Repair Near Me - Manchester, Connecticut

No need to go into the details here, however my experience here went from very positive on a snowblower tune-up last year to a current nightmare on a lawn tractor service. Perhaps the shop owner here delegates the repairs and service to someone less skilled and attentive, I can't say. Suffice it to say I will have to look elsewhere when my yard equipment needs service in the future. read more

I needed a neglected leaf vac/shredder serviced this past fall and found this place in my local area and also highly recommended. Steve (and family) do NOT disappoint in service and quality. Steve is a former landscape business owner turned service business so he absolutely understands the market and the need for the services he offers. He is not only very knowledgeable and experienced in his field but he is also exceptionally honest and approaches every job with an individualized and detail oriented approach. Very impressed by the work he's done for me so far and looking forward to sending him some more, even though it seems he has more than enough to keep him busy, Pricing is reasonable and Steve and family are super friendly, happy to support a local business at the most basic level. Highly recommended, 5 stars! read more

My toro lawnmower decided to not start last Thursday and dropped it off at Steve's business. He was accommodating and said it would probably be an easy fix with a tuneup and cleaning. I picked it back up after a few days and it works perfectly. And it didn't cost me an arm and a leg . Thanks Steve for helping me repair my mower in a timely manner and at a very reasonable cost. read more

The winter of 2014/2015 was too much for our six-year-old snow thrower. It died clearing two feet of snow from our driveway. My husband called Steve --who offered to pick up the snow thrower immediately. An hour later he was at the house troubleshooting the machine. He took it back to his shop, fixed and tuned-up the snow thrower, and returned it to us within 3 days (just before the next big snow storm hit!). Thank God for Steve! Had we brought our snow thrower to one of the "big" repair centers, I'm certain it would've taken weeks to get the snow thrower repaired (and would have been more expensive to boot!) I highly recommend Steve for all small engine repairs! We was prompt, friendly, reasonably-priced, and sincerely concerned about getting our machine back to us ASAP! Thank you, Steve! read more

Spoke with Steve about servicing a Chainsaw, his advice was solid and spoken from experience. Even though he wasn't going to make a sale (because he doesn't work on 2 stroke engines) he was willing to spend 5 minutes with me guiding me in the right direction. That folks is exactly why Steve's reviews are TOP NOTCH!!! read more

Steve is genuine and cares about his customers. Excellent turn around time on repairs.

After the last snow storm where I was left shoveling instead of snowblowing I called Steve's to get it looked at. He came out and picked up the same day I called, expecting to get it back within a week. The next day he called that it was ready! When he dropped the machine off, he started it right up ... just like brand new! Steve was very easy to work with, very accomodating, and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend. read more

Steve had my Stihl string trimmer for almost 4 weeks. When he returned it to me I eventually found he had broken it, failed to repair what he broke but more disturbing was that he tried to hide this issue. My trimmer ran very roughly for about 1 hour and when I looked closer I found he had broken the spark plug wire assembly. The spark plug rubber boot was now missing, he had jury rigged a wire connection to the spark plug and amateurish covered the connection with electrical tape. Since the spark plug cap is a friction fit with the boot and now wouldn't stay on, he glued the cap to the engine housing which failed very quickly. His repair job was very poor at best and more important was that he left my trimmer in a state that was dangerous to operate. I had to pay an accredited shop to repair the damage that he had done. $79.76 wasted. Do not bring any repair work to Steve, he is dishonest and untrustworthy. read more

Steve is the best! I was given a vintage Ariens snow thrower and I contact Steve to see if he could revive it. He totally fixed it so that it purrs when it runs. He picked it up and dropped it off and showed me how to use it and explained how to take care of it. He is fast and just a really nice guy. My wife and I moved to the area from NYC and so we had never used or had a snow blower/ thrower before. I highly recommend Steve. read more

I have a 32 year old Deere 318. He was right up front and said it was not his specialty. After talking to him for a bit he said he would stop by the next day and give me a few ideas what might be going on with it. After a few minutes he had the tractor running perfect!! Above and beyond in my opinion!! Highly recommend Steve!! read more

I'm so happy that I searched Yelp to find someone with positive reviews. My Toro wouldn't start, hadn't been maintained in 3 years and I dropped it off with Steve 5 days ago. Mower is working and ready for spring. I'm certain that the same work & repairs would have cost at least 50% more if I brought it to one of the two repair shops in town (and it would have taken at least 2-3 weeks). Very happy. Highly recommend. read more

Steve provided me FANTASTIC service at an unbeatable price. I recommend him without reservation.

Just before a predicted snow storm I found that my generator started but wasn't producing any electricity. I found Steve's Small Engine Repair on yelp, read the reviews and thought I would give him a shot. I was SO VERY GLAD I CALLED. He had pick up and return delivery. He fixed the mechanical problems, tuned and cleaned the generator that I looked like it was brand new and THE PRICE, I thought, WAS AMAZING. I would not hesitate to call or recommend Steve's Small Engine Repair to anyone. Thank you Steve! read more

Steve was on the phone with me and helped me troubleshoot the problem. He was able to immediately identify the problem after I sent him a picture of the engine. read more

This man has no interest in working on old equipment. He is extremely rude and instead of giving a reason he doesn't want to service your equipment... he hangs up in the middle of a conversation. I left three messages and even inflated the tire he asked me to inflate so it would be easier to load for pick up. Still, instead of telling you he doesn't want to service OR he's too busy, he just hangs up in the middle of the conversation. He had my name and number.... never returned the call. In my opinion, he doesn't need to be running a business with his RUDE behavior. If your equipment is old.... forget this service! read more

Writing review for my parents who were told by a local competitor that it would cost $600 to fix their snowblower (after paying $80 to have it picked/dropped off and inspected). Steve picked up the snowblower, fixed it and returned it right away all for under $200. What a great guy--honest and reliable. Wish they would have called him first. Would highly recommend him. read more

Amazing service!!! I dropped off my Snowblower to be serviced and not even an hour later I got a call from Steve saying it was done and ready to go. It gets better, I called another big shop in town to compare prices and they quoted me at 70 bucks for what I was having done. And they said it was a 3 day turn around.. so needless to say I was VERY HAPPY with the service and the price I got with Steve!! I'll be using him for ALL my small engine needs. Great job, fair price, and honest work! Hard to find these days! read more

I found Steve on the Internet because I had a 10 year old snow blower that just wasn't working at the level it should have been. They picked it up 2 weeks later and had it back in 10 days with a very reasonable price. First snow storm last weekend and it works like new! This is an honest man running an honest business. I wouldn't hesitate to use his services again. read more

Do not hesitate to call this man for your small engine repair. I have a 10 year old Troy Built that needed work. He repaired the starter, gave it a complete tune up, and had it back to me in three days. It runs beautifully. He is very resonably price and truly cares about his work. The 30 dollar pickup and delivery is worth every bit. I would not consider anyone else for my engine repair needs. A true professional!! Peter D read more

Repaired my grandparents lawn mower, it worked for less than 3 months and the same problem! Brought it back and they claimed it wasn't the one that they put in. Complete scam/scum! Ripped off my grandparents for over $500. read more

I broke the starter cord on my 12+ year old Ariens snowblower. Of course this happened just after a snowstorm we had on a Saturday. I called Steve's, and he was able to come and pick the snowblower up at my house the next Monday. Steve replaced the starter cord, changed the oil, and gave the snowblower a complete tuneup. He had it back to me in two days! The cost of the service was very reasonable, and included the pick up/delivery charge. I will definitely call Steve again if I need service to my snowblower or lawnmower. read more

I have a 20 year old Troy Built snowblower that broke last March. I procrastinated until November and took it to a large repair shop and they told me it was not worth fixing. My wife suggested I get a second opinion and I found Steve on the internet. I called him and from the very first conversation I was treated with honesty and integrity. I brought my machine to him and he fixed it quickly and for a very fair price. He took the time to explain what he did and how I can take better care of my snowblower. Steve did a GREAT job fixing my machine and even fixed some prior issues I was told could not be fixed. My machine is running like it's brand new! If you have a lawnmower or snowblower or any other small engine machine and you are looking to get it fixed right, don't hesitate to call Steve. I am so glad I did and I know you will be as well. I will be taking my lawnmower to Steve as well. VERY satisfied customer. read more

Terrible place to perform any service. Requested to fix my relatively new Toro snowblower for belt issue as it got snapped. Tried to replace it myself same issue happened again. so few weeks back, specifically asked Steve to check and fix , based on all the great reviews. Guess what he just put the new belt and told.me it's all fixed. When the ran the machine with no load to warm up to clean the 6" snow fell on the ground, the paddle stopped working within a min as the brand new belt got snapped again as Steve didn't care to fix the actual problem. Ended up manually shovelling snow for 4 hours as Steve never bothered to respond to my request. Worst place and don't fall prey for the cool website as the service quality sucks. Do yourself a favor by finding a good dealer or another reliable and reputable service shop for your service needs as this place isn't cost effective either to start with. read more
