"No job is too small" for a reason... For a $250 diagnostic fee just to show up, they must be cashing in.... They get a star for being responsive and answering the phone, which some electricians simply don't do. Beyond that, they sent over what I guess was an apprentice and another guy who didn't say much. I called twice, including the day of asking if I needed to go out and buy a plug. They said no both times. They guys came over with no equipment despite me emailing a direct picture of what was needed, and unwilling to drive 3 minutes to lowes to get it. We got charged and they left. After an email complaint they offered to send them back to change a plug without another $250 fee. Since we planned on having them actually do the job, while they were out here we asked for another small job or two (including simply changing an outside floodlight). Here comes more diagnostic fees for their "expertise"... Overall there are more experienced places out there by far, and many that will charge far far less. If you are in a pinch and need to reach someone, "no job is too small" here.... read more

Overall, I can't speak to their work. Their reviews on here are good and I'm just one person. But I think it's important to share my experience. I actually would rate it as a 3.5 but since yelp doesn't allow .5 stars and I can't in good conscience give them 3, I just rounded up. I reached out to this company after finding them on here (yelp). I checked the website and it looked like they handled the issue I was looking to have remedied (knob and tube removal) as well as a few other things we wanted done. I set up some time online and someone called me to schedule and in person quote. Josh arrived within his allotted time frame (between 2-4) which was good. He also told me he thought my estimation of the issue wasn't as bad (i thought 80/20 knob and tube he said it's more like 20/80). He took about 30 minutes to walk through/ take pictures. When he left, he told me he would talk to his boss and send me an estimate. This was on a Thursday afternoon. I followed up on the following Wednesday, and shortly after- maybe 30 minutes- I received a message from Josh saying that after discussing it, my job was too extensive and they did not have the capacity to handle it. So they could not give me a quote. He did not follow that up with: we can't do this now as we are too busy but in a few months we could. I am pleased with their honesty (I'd rather you say you can't do it then leave me with a wreck of a house). I also think the person who handles their scheduling is very nice. So in that respect they get 5 stars (and that's where they get the bulk of the 3.5 star rating). However, had I not reached out, I'm not sure they would have bothered to get back to me on the quote. That is absolutely 1 star behavior for a company. I was also a bit surprised they weren't able to give me a quote for at least some other work we asked for (upgrade of service panel and outdoor outlets). That's 2 star behavior. We received another quote and that company priced everything out separately just in case we wanted to do some items and not others. So overall if you have knob and tube issues you may (or may not) run into similar issues as I did. read more

Josh and his team updated my whole house last week in preparation for sale. They upgraded all my outlets and switches, replaced fixtures in my drop ceilings to new LED units, installed GFCI's, replaced ballasts in the fluorescent fixtures I kept, and troubleshooted my pool filter, which previously had been tripping the breaker far too often. Josh's estimate was very reasonable, and when compared to another estimate I got, it was a no brainer who'd get the job. Even though I ended up adding more work once they were here, the increase in expense was handled with fairness. All this work was done by two electricians each day over the course of one afternoon and one morning. Everyone (Ryan, Tyler, and Tyler) was very professional, efficient, polite, and conscientious. They answered all my questions with confidence and clear knowledge, offered suggestions when I had a choice to make, and cleaned up before leaving each day. They took notes on what needed to be done on their return after the weekend, and came prepared. I also appreciated that I got text messages alerting me of the appointment and that they were on the way, and I liked that Josh emailed me the estimate and final invoice, and secure payment was done right through the email with a simple withdrawal from my checking account. Josh was responsive in getting back to me, from requesting a quote, to follow up after the work was complete. Like most things done to help a house sale, I wish I'd gotten it done sooner so I could enjoy it longer! I'd recommend AJP for any electrical work needed. read more

I contacted AJP regarding water getting into electrical panel. Let me tell you their fast response and communication is A++++. As a homeowner it's so frustrating when you do not receive a returned call or response. NOT AJP - they were able to stop that issue and give me an estimate on replacing current panel - due to unforeseen circumstances the project has been placed on hold. When I contacted them with the changes there was no attitude or resistance - a quick No Problem is what I got. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Great work, I have used them twice now, and will continue to recommend them! We had them install an attic fan and our new house, when above and beyond what we expected. Give us a light switch with a light indicator. That way if we have to shut it down we can without going into the Attic. After doing some online research I contacted AJP Electric about installing undercabinet lighting in my kitchen. I received a prompt response and after sending photos of the area and answering some questions I had an estimate. I decided to move forward with the project and had an installation date the following week. Much to my surprise I received a text message the evening before, as well as the next morning confirming the time of our appointment. Josh contacted me prior to coming to confirm the color of my switches and outlets, and checking to see if a different color was needed. I received one more text when they were in their way. This was a huge plus for me - I've had other electricians blow off appointments in the past. When they arrived (right on time) Josh and Jim introduced themselves and got to work. Both were very personable and pleasant. As a single woman I never was concerned about my safety or my property. Josh explained what he was doing as he went. Several holes were needed in the wall in order to tie into the existing wiring which he had explained to me. They were nicely patched. After they cleaned up I was presented with my total. It was exactly what I was quoted. In addition to showing me the dimmer, Josh went and tried all of the electrical switches to ensure everything was in working order before he left. Both men obviously take pride in their work. As you can tell I am very satisfied and would definitely use them again. (On a side note, one of my neighbors stopped over while they were here. She asked for their card, as they had an issue with an overhead light. After a few questions, Josh offered to take a look. I called AJP Electric this morning and chatted with Josh about replacing my circuit breaker. I texted him a picture of my fuse box so he could check he had all the correct replacement parts with him.
