Worked here as a kid delivering these wonderful wonderful pizzas. Never did learn the addictive seasoning that they add to the sausage pizza. But I about had enough entire large sausage pizza to myself. They crank out the zas fast as they can. The dining room is closed. That kinda sucks. Spent many hours listening to the long version of American Pie on the jukebox. While slicing the cheese. One big thing is they don't use shredded cheese. I have never dined in at this place, always electing to have my pizza delivered. Last night I was at Rush River Brewery enjoying a drink and a game of hammerschlagen. We decided to order a pizza from Steve's and they were fairly quick to get it to us. Due to differing tastes, we got pepperoni on one side and sausage & onions on the other. The crust was thin and perfectly crispy, the sauce was tasty, tons of cheese and it comes cut in squares (a midwest thing). Each piece had a chunk of sausage on it. I started wondering if they planned that out as they put down the toppings. I think this pizza bears a very strong resemblance to Carbones (which I still like more). I would have liked to see a bit more meat on the pizza. It was kind of stingy given an extra large pizza was $20 (16" size). I would order pizza again next time I'm at Rush River. If I were downtown, I would probably be more likely to grab something else. read more

We had pizzas here in college and they were better then. I guess anything is better when you are drunk. The pizza is VERY bland! No spice yo the sauce and no seasoning to the meats! I used to work at this place 9 years ago. The owner, tom, is horrible and his girlfriend (now wife apparently) Margaret is just as bad. They treat their staff like absolute crap, we got screamed at and called stupid constantly. I got asked by Margaret how I even got accepted into college when I couldn't even find the lids to containers (all because I could not find the right box in storage and asked her for help). The turnover of staff was incredible. Nobody lasted longer than a couple months. One of my coworkers got callled "dumber than a sack of rocks" and left in tears. Tom would frequently throw tantrums and scream at staff, even in front of customers. It was humiliating. We had one old lady in tears ask to leave out the back door because she was too afraid to walk past Tom with how much he was screaming at us staff. The food is okay- but don't support this business if you think college kids deserve to be treated with basic decency. read more

We like (used to love), Steves and in our opinion, has the best pizza in River Falls. They also have gyros as well which are scrumdillyicious. The prices are okay but the service is lacking. We waited and waited for our waitress to return to the table to order dessert but she never came back. So we paid and left. The friendliness is lacking as well. Is it that hard to greet your patrons? Food is great, service was great, but the manager (or whoever was barking at all the employees) was an absolute horror. I go here often, I see the staff of young, sweet college kids just trying to make some money and obviously don't have much experience in the food industry at such a ripe age, but I appreciate the fact they're trying. I witnessed the manager speaking in the most inappropriate way of one of the employees recently, even yelling at her as she was talking to a table from the front of the restaurant with a line of people waiting to pay. Not only was he training another sweet, young girl, he was demanding the first one, WHO WAS HELPING CUSTOMERS aka doing her JOB, to come answer the phone as there were five other people standing in the kitchen who could have easily stopped and answered the phone. Why this poor girl had to be THE ONLY ONE possibly to answer the phone AND waiting on the guests in the dining room, makes no sense. And even so, she was BUSY. She wasn't on her phone, she wasn't spacing out... she was talking to a table. I've been in the industry for almost fifteen years and I've had some pitbull bosses myself, but they had the decency to talk either to or ABOUT their employees out of the range of customers. I have never been so turned off after I heard him in the ugliest tone saying, "I'm going to CHOKE HER... I'm SERIOUSLY going to choke her!" How awful! No wonder she seemed like she was walking on eggshells and all of this while he's training another young girl? I wonder what the turnover rate is like there! Sir, you are not Gordon Ramsay. I understand the pressures of the industry, but please remember we all started somewhere. These kids are making next to nothing (possibly less than $3 an hour in Wisconsin), going to school probably full-time, and you're treating them like complete crap. I wanted to give each one of those girls a hug!!! I'm sure this was nothing and not unfamiliar to these kids, which is completely pathetic. I went there for dinner tonight and the waitress was working her ass off, she was one of the best waitress I have ever had and while checking out she was standing there in line to use the register and and Tom YELLED at her saying "are you just gonna stand there or help someone Jesus Christ". While this is one of those "hole-in-the-wall" type joints, and yes, once you step inside you will see why, it's not the worse place to grab a decent pizza. The size of the meat is huge, compared to other mom and pop shops. The pizza itself was average and fair for the price. Not a bad place to feed a group or family if you are on low budget. While I would have appreciated some sort of cutting and serving tools to handle the hot pizza, overall it was a fair pizza. Steve's pizza is yummy. The cheesy bread with sauce is also amazing. My husband likes their gyros. I especially like the pepperoni pizza and their taco pizza. We usually have it delivered and they are fairly prompt. If you go into the restaurant it's not anything fancy. However, you just have to get over the look of the place's old decor and try their food. We are moving from River Falls soon so I'm ordering this as often as I can. I have been ordering from Steve's Pizza Palace in River Falls, WI for over 15 years and the pizza has been great. However today I received the poorest, rudest service I have ever received from any restaurant business ever. My order was unable to be put through because an employee could not enter a credit card properly. I called back and it amazingly went through the second time with the SAME card. I complained that my hungry children would now have to wait 20min longer for our pizza. I received no suggestion at reparations just a sorry and then hung up on. When I call to ask for the manager I hear an "Oh Great!" in the background and then Immediately get told when I did wrong and how my "first" card was bad, even though they were the same cards. I was unable to get more than five words in until I would get interrupted again. When I finally get exasperated at being cut off for the third time I gave way to anger and let the F-bomb slip. I then get told that nothing will be delivered and hung up on again. So I called back to get the owners contact info, but was told by the employee that she did not know the ladies number but could take down my info. So, I ask to talk to the manager once again to ask for his name. I then hear another "oh great" and get told off again and that he is the owner (so he's a lady?) and hung up on again. I admit that me dropping the F-bomb was improper. However, it shouldn't have gotten to the point of a customer being treated so rudely and told he/she was wrong and had a bad credit card. I hope to get a hold of the real owner and hopefully talk to someone with customer service skills and politeness. read more

I'm a pizza snob but even a bad pizza is better than most cubby fill. I am from the Quad-Cities and have tried in vain to get the pizza crust the right thin and chewy but slightly sweet consistency that comes with malt powder but I don't have the patience to wait 24 hours for crust. Then I tried Steve's House pizza, it came in strips (could it be?) then the meat was finely ground (oh BOY!) lots of cheese, even a hint of fennel in the sausage and the crust was the closest thing to home I've tasted in 15 years! Easily the best pizza on earth. When you have a Steve's craving, you best satisfy it, or it will stay with you until you do. I once craved Steve's for 6straight days, and almost had to be hospitalized for it. Pick any specialty and any topping, it just doesn't matter. Their gyros are also wonderful.
