You can strum a stringed instrument with your thumb... but you will not get the tone desired!! I asked the gentleman if I could use a pick on the instrument, he said no! I told him it was not the correct way to play the instrument , without a pick ! He quickly replied "I do it all the time!" What a smart ass! I understand his side of the coin!! As a store owner, he doesn't want a bunch of kids and yahoos coming in and scratching up instruments! I understand 100%! But, I really was interested in the mandolin and wanted to buy it!! Since he would not let me use a pick and correctly try out the mandolin.. I had to walk away! That was $1000 sale he missed out on! I would not recommend anyone going here unless they're interested in a cheap guitar and dealing with a smart ass! I still do not know what the tone of the mandolin truly sounded like!!

I brought my nearly 30 year old Specialized road bike in for a tune up and a new computer. It was a pretty quick conclusion that my bike was old and in need of serious attention. An easy fix would be a new bike , which was not in my budget. I really just wanted my old bike fixed up and Nick and his team answered the call. My bike was handed over to bicycle tech Eric who did an amazing rebuild on my old ride. My road bike is like new and I couldn't be happier with my service! Finding parts was challenging and I know from experience that no other bike shop would probably even look at it. Eric explained the service to me and didn't make me feel like a dumbass who should really just buy a new bike. Customer service is "KING" period! As a long time valley resident I highly recommend Aloha Cyclery for all your cycling needs.

I recently brought in two electric guitars for some repair work and Bevan had the guitars ready to go by the next day. Bevan took the time to explain the repair work and what was changed on each guitar. Most importantly, they both sound fantastic and play like butter now. After going through the repair work, Bevan brought out a few of his hand made guitars. It is easy to see he puts his heart and soul into his craft. Clearly he knows what he is doing and for the price paid, I left knowing the work done was as professional as it gets. Great to know that Summit county has a legitimate luthier. I will definitely be going back to Big Hollow Guitars for future work!
