Go to Steve's! My "check engine" light just came on and I freaked out. Ok, here we go a $400 day. Went over there at 8 am and told them what was happening. He went out into the parking lot to check my car. Popped the hood, slammed it and went over to the gas cap and tighened it up and said "you are good". If it happens again come back. No charge! Update Took my car in for excessive vibration exam. This problem had gotten progressively worse over the last 5-6 years. I did a bit of research online (dangerous, I know), so I suspected the motor mounts needed replacement. Johnny wrote up the ticket and I also wanted the oil changed. Lo and behold, worn out motor mounts was the diagnosis. I am so happy that my car runs so smoothly now! The total was about $500 - 1/3 what the dealer would have charged. Steve's is the best. I'm saving up now to have my drivers side window repaired. The doohickey in the door broke and Johnny said they can fix that too! The dealer wants $150, just to tell me what's wrong! No thanks! Love Steve's Auto Express!! read more

I love this shop. Employees are friendly. Art is a cool guy and always very honest and that is the main reason I will never go anywhere else. They are always packed but they do such a great job they get it all done fast! read more

They did an excellent job replacing the breaks and rotors on my Honda Civic Hybrid. They were very friendly and polite. I got a genuinely good vibe from the people working there. They went above and beyond with their professionalism. I feel happy that I finally found a trust worthy auto shop in LA!! If you're trying to find a place where you can have work done on your car with a peace of mind then go to this place! read more

Their service here is so great!! I just came by for yet another oil change and filter change. They're prices are reasonable and hey work quickly. I would highly recommend coming in the morning on a weekday because their weekends are pretty booked. read more

The best mechanic I know of in the Valley. Art is an amazing guy, and his mechanics are top notch. I would recommend them to anyone. Been going here for years. So has my roommate. And have never been disappointed read more

I've been a customer for years. I've had great service with Art. Recently I had to deal with Tony. He was unprofessional and did not take care of the issue. He took advantage of my situation. I had to return 3 times and still the issue exists. Do not recommend as the place had changed and not for the good. read more

Excellent service. Great price. Quality repair. Fast service. Best repair shop in Granada Hills.

We have a Toyota and a Lexus and we never take them anywhere else. Great, honest and friendly service. Prices are fair and service is done promptly. Wonderful way to run a business! read more

I have been coming here for over 10 years now. This was my go to mechanic who was honest and had fair prices. I would call Art and tell him my problem and he would say bring it in and we'll take a look and give you a call with the damage. If I didn't want to go with the work it would always be a free inspection like it says on the front window. How things have changed since Tony took over. I dropped my car off and told Tony my issue and he said he would give me a call. He called me and said it would be $189 to do the work. I agreed to that price. Once I go pick it up and ready to pay he says $320. I said you told me $189 why is it $320. He said we charge $125 to diagnose the problem. He said it says it hanging right in the office! I said I have been coming here for years and never had to pay to figure out the problem. He said we changed that 2 years ago. So much for my to go to honest mechanic. Tony is a scam artist! This place used to have cars lined up waiting to get in. When I went today I was the only car there. Didn't think much of it till Tony rip me off. Stay away peeps! read more

Got some body work done here. Johnny is ultra-polite and game me a price of only $268 total, when my old shop was trying to charge me $320 without including the tax. Was in and out in only 25 minutes. They've definitely scored a returning customer. read more

I brought my car in for a free diagnosis and car estimate and asked for them to give me estimates on pricing. They didn't call me and I waited two days to call them and they didn't even look at my car yet until I called. Then they went ahead and fixed a couple problems I had without my permission and tried to charge me for the service. I told them that I was upset and improperly charged and didn't want anything fixed, only diagnosed. The mechanic was understanding and didn't charge me. I give a 4 star rating because the mechanic was apologetic, not because I was impressed by the auto shop. read more

This has to be one of last honest shops around. Extremely nice folks, I will not go anywhere else. Many thanks to Nelson who found the problem and got me going. Highly recommended. read more

Hey yelpers, here's a important review . I had my clutch done at Steve's express and I supplied all the parts like brand New clutch kit, clutch cover and New fly wheel. dropped the car off in the morning with all the new parts, and said to done late afternoon. Well mid day Art calls me to Say I need a master clutch Cylinder. I had one because I was going to install it my self, but I decided to just dropped it off. He never mentioned that he was going to charge me an extra $100 when I dropped it off. He Let me know When I picked up my ride it was $100. At that point what do I say it was done. I had these parts for over a week before I decided to have it done by Steve's express. So I know what they look like and in detail. HERE'S THE KICKER.... the NEW CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER HOUSING WAS MADE OUT OF ""PLASTIC""! I happened to notice that the clutch pedal was making a clicking sound every time I pressed the pedal. So I looked under the dash and I saw that the old master clutch cylinder was still there and the reason I really noticed it more was the old housing of the clutch cylinder is made out of "METAL !" and the pedal rod is all metal as well the new one has plastic. So steve's express never put the new clutch cylinder I supplied them and charged me to install it. I emailed the maker of the of the New clutch cylinder and they said that the clutch cylinder I ordered was made from a Heat treated plastic. Thats proof enough for me, I have the email and the old master cylinder that I had to replace because the noise it was making was coming from the old master cylinder going bad. The one they charged me $100 extra for. The only reason I had steve's express do my clutch is that I live in a condo and theres No auto repair work allowed on the premises . I'm not new to auto repair I do most of it myself on the side or the street normally taking couple hours. clutch would have taken all day or more with hand tools. FYI ...To steves Place if you think I am making this up.. please contact me and I will supply all the proof from emails to old parts I still have along with sale invoices. And I also have another part that I can't get to. I think was reused, that I can't get too because its in the bell housing. At this point advise from Small Claims Civil lawyer might be in the future. FYI, ask for your OLD PARTS TO BE RETURNED TO YOU. Beware of this place read more

Great place. They know what they are doing and they don't rip you off. When I took my car in, they originally thought it was the clutch that was making a noise. That would have been a costly repair. Once they had a chance to check it out, they called me and let me know it was the starter and it would be a lot less. I was SO HAPPY! An honest automotive repair shop so hard to find. read more

I made a yelp account just to review Steve's Express. This was my second visit to Steve's, the first visit I needed a new master cylinder hose, I ended having them do my entire rear brakes. The service was fast, efficient, and more than reasonable in pricing. My second visit, I thought I needed new front brakes and possibly rotors. Steve's express not only gave me the best quote for labor and parts, they diagnosed me and the problem ended up being a loose/missing screw. They replaced the screw and had my car ready in no time. Did I mention I wasn't even charged for the second job. Definitely recommend Steve's as it is hard to find a good and fair mechanic. This will now be my go to spot for any and every automotive need. read more

I don't want to write too many good things about this shop because this shop is super busy but i know why. The service is Great, Price is very fair and they can fix anything! Art is the Gentleman who takes in my requests and he is Honest and believe it or not i stopped asking how much because they are just that good! they always take care of my plumbing van and i'm more than happy so far. read more

I needed a fuel pump on my car I walked in and asked the guy behind the desk how much would a fuel pump cost to replace and install he gave me an estimate and when I heard the estimate I thought to myself that's kind of high. So I told the guy behind the desk I would be back. So I went to another shop down the street for the same job they quoted me almost $200 less then this place I'm sure they do a good job, like oil changes brake jobs rotate tires smog check. but compare and check prices around the neighborhood. Takes only 15 20 minutes to drive around the neighborhood and get an estimate it might save you a couple hundred dollars. Estimates are free... Got the job done at the cheaper place . And saved almost $200 bills. People drive around town to save $0.10 on a gallon of gas so why would you not drive around to get an estimate that might save you couple hundred dollars. read more

Steve's is amazing! My mom and I have been bringing our cars here for years and they are simply THE BEST. I am a big car guy, I know every aspect of the engine especially my car. Well recently the steering wheel was making a grinding noise and for the hell of it I couldn't figure it out. I took took it to my normal mechanic of 9 years plus and he told me it was the ball joint. I told him the car just needed to be lubed 'cause of the hot summer. But he insisted it was the ball joint. Alright so I gave in and threw some cash to fix it. As soon as I got my car back it was still making the grinding noise. What the hell! I was furious, seriously it stresses me having separation anxiety from my car. So one evening I decided to scout out a mechanic near my home and found this shop. Specifically picked these guys due to being open on Saturdays, so that following Saturday I dropped it off. Hours later they call me to tell me that they just didn't have enough time to find the problem. But they did find that the clamps were missing from brakes. (old mechanics fault?) So I agreed and told them to get the parts , the cost was a bit pricey what I normally pay. Still the grinding noise continued, it was driving me nuts so I gave them another chance and dropped it off earlier than norm. Hours later I get a call and they tell me my car is ready. I ask, "wait I never authorized the fix without my consent." The service guy tells me its free of charge, the problem just needed to be lubed. Thats what I originally told my ex mechanic!!! Point being, never doubt myself again and these guys certainly impressed me. It is rare that I ever recommend a place but these guys are certainly reliable. I understand why they are so busy because people in the valley trust these folks with their most prized cars. If you care about your car bring it here; hard working staff, great service and honesty that goes a long way. read more

Super quick smog checks and friendly service. Getting that little smog check notice in the mail is always such a bummer. But at least this place makes it's a breeze! Quick and cheap! read more

Great spot. Hard to find honest people for auto repairs. These guys earn trust. GO SEE THEM!

This is a great place to get your car serviced or repaired. Top notch service and more important super honest people. They will only recommend repairs when you need them so you can trust what they say. It is hard to find a good repair shop, so look no further. read more

This is the place I come to when I want something done right. I've been coming here for six years and they have taken care of my vehicle and have full confidence in the abilities of the staff. It's always great to get an estimate and when they're done, actually have the job cost less and not have them charge the full price they initially quoted which I wouldn't have known the difference. That alone has made me a loyal repeat customer. read more

Art was great! He made sure he found the problem with my car and then took the necessary steps in fixing my car. His customer service was up to par & he checked in with me before fixing the problem to inform me of the problem & how much it would cost to fix it. Overall, great service! read more

Thanks Art for always being there to help me out with my cars! I can always depend on the guys at Steve's Express to make my drive safer and ease my tension of going to the repair shop. I never feel cheated or taken advantaged of (being a woman and honestly knowing nothing about cars). If I'm shy a little on oil, he just takes care of it. Love this place! Have been coming here for over 15 years! Thanks guys! read more

I had a coolant leak and I took my car here. This was a couple years ago. I had to wait a long time because they needed to order a part and the vendor brought the wrong part so they needed to get another one... But to make up for the delay, Steve gave me a coupon for a free oil change even though I had not complained at all, which I thought was very nice customer service in a situation where the delay was not their fault anyway. The waiting area was not the most comfortable, but it was fine. read more

This place is a block away from where I live and am I so glad to have them. Great customer service, you really feel appreciated here and make you feel like they are being honest with you. This is the only place I will take my car. Art is the nicest most genuine guy which typically doesn't exist when it comes to car repair. I really appreciate that he never makes me feel like a "dumb girl" when I'm telling him about a noise or other issue I've noticed with my car. He's a great guy and he does great work. read more

We needed to have a pre-purchase inspection done on a car we were considering buying from a private party and wanted to find a mechanic near the seller to do this. We picked Steve's Express in part based on the Yelp reviews, and I can say that our experience with Art and the shop lived up to the reviews. The inspection covered the mechanics, brakes, hoses, fluids and a visual structural inspection. We felt Art gave us an honest report of the condition of the vehicle, and not like someone trying to drum up business repairing faults that may be found with a vehicle, like some shops may do. If I lived closer to this shop, I would not hesitate to bring my vehicles here for service based on this experience. read more

I was in the process of making an eBay auto purchase, long distance. And Johnny has been so helpful. As it goes with used car purchases, things rarely go smoothly but the kind folks at Steve's Express have been nothing but amazing. Their prices seem really fair too.
