Maryland is known for their crabs and a fried soft shell crab sandwich is one of the ways to enjoy them. The crab is fried and you eat the entire crab on a roll. The meat is sweet and juicy! Bottom Line: Excellent seafood in a no-frills environment. My husband and I have been driving past the Stevensville Crab Shack for quite awhile and we recently tried it for the first time. I'm sorry we waited so long to enjoy a meal from this seasonal and unassuming store front because it was delicious! I had some of the best coconut shrimp I have ever had and my husband had a crab cake sandwhich. He eats lots of crab cakes and gave it two thumbs up. We also really enjoyed their fries and I appreciated that they had a Coca-cola fountain soda since I was craving a diet Coke. Stevensille Crab Shack consists of s small storefront and a side yard with picnic tables. We visited in mid-August and given COVID-19 only one party was going into the small interior at a time to order. Then the employees bring out the food which you can either take to go or enjoy at the picnic tables. Even during usual times there is not any indoor seating. I'm glad that when we visited the employees were all wearing masks. My favorite spot to get soft shell crabs and a dozen female crabs. It's a no frills place that is all about the food. They only have outdoor seating with a restroom on premise. Keep that in mind especially if the weather isn't too pleasant. Love the soft shell crab sandwich here. Prices are reasonable. The deep fried soft shells are very crunchy and the crab itself is very fresh. The dozen female crabs run about $35 and they were very fresh as well. The main difference being that female crabs are smaller with the eggs but the meat is more sweeter. The sweetness is what draws me to the female crab. Well maybe not just female crabs too, haha. I don't want to hate on a business but we live an hour away and make the trip 3-4x a summer to come get crabs go to one of the many waterfront parks and eat crabs. So disappointed, we asked for XL crabs and got tiny crabs that weren't fresh. The thing with crabs is that telling their freshness is fairly easy because of the meats texture, you can also open the crab and see the color of the guts to know how fresh it was prior to steaming or worse yet when they reheat crabs that have already been steamed. Businesses change hands all the time, they fail miserably when the new ownership takes a winning formula and mucks around with it.
