The area has been gentrified from the former Wharf area I visited back in the day. There was an impressive amount of restaurants, hotels, and concert venues in the area. We entered Union Stage for our concert. The upstairs area had a bar area and a e had to descend downstairs to the concert hall venue. We grabbed a quick bite of snack options at the bar area and a drink: the snack was tasty, the drink ok, but overpriced, and the service good. The ambiance of concert venue was moody and dark, but in a good way, enough for you to enjoy the atmosphere while taking in the show. Note: the venue is standing room only, so make sure you were comfortable shoes. All in all, we enjoyed the concert and look forward to coming back and exploring more of the concert/food options here.

Was looking for some affordable local flavors. This was a cool spot…read more AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking for the most part, typical for this part of town. Seating: Indoor seating with room for about 20 people inside the market. Vibes: You're right in the heart of Old Town / Fells Point -- the touristy but charming part of Baltimore. I dig the vintage brick roads, the historic feel, and the mix of locals and visitors passing through. The space sits inside a lively market (1640 Aliceanna St) with that true Baltimore seafood vibe -- casual, approachable, and full of movement. It's not fine dining; it's flavor-first, no-nonsense, and welcoming. Great for a quick grab-and-go or to sit down for a casual meal. FOOD/DRINKS: Crab Soup (A-Ok) Simple but hearty. It reminded me of a tomato-based soup with crab mixed in -- nothing too fancy, but warm and satisfying. I appreciated the richness and good amount of crab meat. I'm more of a clam chowder fan, so next time I might go that route, but this was still solid. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quick, friendly, and efficient. The staff clearly know what they're doing and keep things moving without losing that personal touch. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Good prices, solid flavors, and a classic Baltimore seafood feel. Sal and Son's Seafood isn't flashy, but it's genuine -- a go-to for a comforting bowl and a true local experience. I'll be back to try their other dishes next time I'm in the area. TIPS: * Check what's on special -- they rotate and have plenty of combo options.

It's probably because one meal was simple (crab cake sandwich, fries), and the other may have taken longer to cook to order (shrimp and chicken jambalaya). Otherwise, we were absolutely satisfied with the food. The crab cake sandwich was on point. The creamy crab soup was flavorful, creamy, and worth every bite. The shrimp and chicken jambalaya was also executed well. Also, I highly recommend trying the fresh fruit drinks. We got watermelon and pineapple, and "refreshing" doesn't begin to describe how good they were. The service was straightforward and to the point, which works for me. The establishment is located inside of a market. We went on a Sunday, so this was one of the few eateries open. I'm imagining that it is probably more jumping on other days. If I'm in Baltimore again, I'll definitely consider visiting again and exploring more of the menu.

The mix of strong competing perfume scents in the dining room was overwhelming enough that I legitimately felt like I was on the verge of an asthma attack. Thankfully, Melissa completely turned the experience around service-wise. She was personable, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest about the menu. You can tell she's been there a long time because her recommendations were spot on and she guided us well. The crab cake was INCREDIBLE. Excellent flavor, packed with crab, and very little filler. Easily the standout of the meal. The scallops and shrimp were also really good. My only complaint there is one I'll never stop having with restaurants in general: if you're serving shrimp in a plated entrée, just take the tails off. Nobody wants to stop mid-meal to perform seafood surgery and get their fingers messy. Overall, the food and service were strong enough that I'd come back, but hopefully next time the fragrance cloud in the dining room is a little less aggressive.

This time was no different. We decided to share the crabmeat cheesesteak and the lobster melt. Both were delicious. The crab cheesesteak was flavorful and filled with crab (not just that filler stuff). It's Maryland, come with it! My only ick was the over salty flavor that lingered after each bite. Half of the sandwich was more than enough for that reason. Maybe tone down the old bay?! The lobster melt was a yummy follow-up. It was juicy and buttery, and the squeeze of a lemon wedge was a chef's kiss accoutrement. I'd definitely go here again when I'm in the area! Service was friendly; we ordered to-go. I honestly do not remember anything re: seating/tables. We were too busy snapping silly photos with the giant, colorful crab outside lol

We had the Maryland Crab Soup, New England Clam Chowder (best ever!) and 1lb of Jumbo Shrimp ($26/lb) before hoping on the Water Taxi nearby for a sightseeing tour to Georgetown and back. I wish they build a hand washing station and have a few vending machines for beverages, then this will be a modernized seafood spot operated since 1939.

I love Baltimore…read more Jeremy and I had plans to meet up with a group of friends to celebrate Chris's birthday at 6pm. But the weather was lovely and we were bored sitting around the apartment so we went to waste some time downtown. We parked in Little Italy and walked the entire promenade for like the 15th time. There's always something to see... this time we saw TWO couples dressed for their wedding, and an entire dinner cruise worth of people wearing white. I see the need for some updates in the area. New neighborhoods are springing up, and old neighborhoods are being gentrified, but the area around the harbor remains the same... only slowly losing its charm to a mishmash of stores that don't offer anything unique, and over-priced restaurants. Though I was glad to see Angeli's pizza - we had Chris's birthday dinner at their Little Italy location last year and had a blast. Rash Field is a hot mess. I don't know what they think they're doing with that space, but it's ugly, broken, unmaintained, and dangerous. It's supposed to be a family friendly place, with a (scary as hell looking, Silent Hill-esque) playground but just a quick look around revealed many places where children should not go. I miss that crazy fountain, and the merry-go-round. But the new marsh area by the aquarium is pretty cool. I would have been absolutely thrilled if the otters had shown themselves, but alas I couldn't find any hint of them. I also adore the paddle dragons. And now there are electric pirate ships. No paddling required! Sadly, they are in no way accessible, but I still enjoy watching them. It's absolutely possible to have a great time at the Inner Harbor without spending any money (except for parking) just people/boat watching. Street performers, such as the dude playing the violin, provide the soundtrack. There are a lot of events held throughout the year in this area. Nothing much was going on when we were there, but the Book Festival is coming up... and the German Christmas Village is fantastic. I highly recommend my city. Go check it out.
