Dr Ali made sure I was a candidate for the reconstruction surgery I wanted and never made unrealistic promises. I appreciated his openness and honesty. I believe he truly has a heart for breast cancer reconstruction and handles these cases with the upmost care. The only hesitation I had initially was he only performed my specific surgery with one specific surgeon. After meeting that oncological surgeon (who is also amazing) I had my surgery. Butchered and In Debt: A 3-Month Nightmare and for the rest of my life. …read more ​I am writing this as a social worker and therapist to warn others. It took me a year to choose this surgeon and follow through with it, I thiught about trusting him for a year, and it has been the biggest mistake of my life. I went in for a deep plane face and neck lift. Against my better judgment, I allowed the surgeon to talk me into an eye lift and fat injections under my eyes--a procedure I was petrified of and had literal nightmares about. ​Three months later, I have been butchered. ​The Eyes: My left eye remains severely swollen and has not changed in two months. There is a deep, "black" discoloration under my eyes that $200 concealer cannot hide. I am forced to wear glasses 24/7 just to look my clients in the face because the results are so disturbing. ​Nerve Damage: My smile, which was my best feature, is completely gone. I have obvious nerve damage that has distorted my mouth. The way I talk, speech, and smile..yiu can tell I have the nerve damage by just talking to me...devastating. I could have accepted that on its own but my God..I was butchered. ​Visible Scarring: While one side is hidden (the side that i part my hair on so it would have been hidden anyways!!!), the other incision was made past my hairline and is completely visible. Unfortunately I was his learning curve and his biggest mistake I was left in a horrific and unfixable state because of this one man with a degree. I was lucky to live through the Serratia from unsterile medical equipment and other infections. My whole life was changed forever. I couldn't return to my normal job ever or ever have normal boobs again.. I am still not normal and think of him every time I have to look at my boobs just praying they will be normal to some degree again. My recovery after he moved lasted over 2 years. First there was a series of open wound treatments, 3 weeks as an inpatient in hospital and numerous other medical procedures. Oh yeah let's not forget having to insert interventions antibiotics 4 x's a day myself through a pic line because without it I would have died. After all these years, I am still finding forgiveness hard, but moving forward with my life by helping others make informed decisions. I hope the best for him and his new patients and hope no one has to endure what I did.
