Interesting recent turn of events at MD Plastic Surgery Gawley. In Oct. 2025 I called and requested an appointment with Gawley and was told that I would have to pay a consulting fee of $250 plus a $2,000 surgery fee if I wanted an appointment, even though I was a returning client. I questioned why I had to pay a surgery fee up front when I hadn't even seen him. She said that the fee was refundable if I changed my mind after the consultation. I have also been a skin club member of MD Skin for the past 5 years. The next day I got a call from my MD aesthetician saying that skin club members did not have to pay the consultation fee. I saw Dr. Gawley for my appointment and decided not to have the $35K surgery and requested a refund of both the surgery fee and the consultation fee which had been waived. That's where the fun began. The next week I stopped by the office to check on my refund and casually mentioned to the front desk that I would like to make an appointment for a facial consultation. She said that they had just had a cancellation and that Dr. Gawley could see me immediately. He explained that he could not do what I wanted and was concerned that I wouldn't be happy with the results. So I decided that I would not have a $51K surgery that I wouldn't be happy with, and I left the office reminding everyone that I had not received my refund to my bankcard. For the next 2 months I asked for a refund of my $2250 deposit with no response except to pass me on to someone else. Then I talked to the bookkeeper who said she was not going to refund my $2250 and the reasons she gave made no sense. After several more phone calls, I finally talked with Kerri White-Singleton who said that she was the CEO of MD Gawley. She gave me the same rude and pushy run around in a lengthy phone call in which she talked non stop until I said "Let's cut to the chase - are you refunding my deposit or not?" I paid $200 for a consultation with Dr. Jennifer Geoghegan and got estimates, which seemed high, but understandable if she's a good surgeon. I ended up needing non-elective surgery for a health issue that came up, so I could not proceed with scheduling right away. After healing and being ready to face another (this time elective) surgery, I emailed and called the office to schedule. When I kept leaving repeated messages with the receptionist that went unreturned, I went in person to talk to the office staff , and spoke with the medical assistant who promised up and down she would call me the next day at 1 pm to schedule but a year later never called me back, I realized Dr. Geoghegan just doesn't want to be my doctor and doesn't respect me enough to tell me. There is no other explanation for being completely blown off like that. I finally have another fantastic surgeon, but I was inspired to write this review now over a year later because in doing my research, I saw how many talented surgeons there are in the Scottsdale area alone. Unethical and Greedy Practice; Am I the only one who paid $2,000 for a quote? My initial impression of this practice was extremely nice and professional. They put on a good front. Do your research and look at the negative reviews for this doctor. Sadly, after the fact I did and each and every time there are issues you can see how this practice changes and becomes unwilling to help the patient and the Dr. hides behind his front desk. I went for a consultation and paid $250. At the time of the consultation, I was given a quote for the procedure, for free. I booked an appointment for a procedure and paid, what I was told was a $2,000 scheduling fee. I signed contracts/agreements and was given a packet, in a folder, on my way out the door. I erroneously made the assumption that the contract/agreement was included in the packet. It was not. First bad sign. I was reconsidering my decision to proceed with Dr. Gawley because he is not trained in a facelift procedure called "deep plane" which was recommended by another plastic surgeon, Dr. Paul Nassif. Unfortunately, Dr. Gawley is only trained to perform a "SMAS" technique. I wanted to speak further with Dr. Gawley about the difference between the two techniques, however, every time I called to speak to Dr. Gawley I was not allowed to because "he's out of the office" or "he's with patients". Second bad sign. At this point I was starting to doubt my initial impression of this practice and here is where my instincts proved to be correct: I canceled my appointment with Dr. Gawley with over 90 days' notice. I was told that my $2,000 scheduling fee was non-refundable. I had consulted with 3 other top plastic surgeons and every single one gave a full refund if canceled with over 90 days' notice. I understand that there may be "some" fees associated with scheduling an appointment, but $2,000? This practice was unwilling to negotiate or even discuss what burden they had incurred that would warrant them keeping the full $2,000 Which they called a scheduling fee, but when I cancelled the appointment for surgery, they then called it a fee for a quote. I am so thankful I did not proceed with a procedure with this practice. if something were to go wrong would I receive similar treatment as I've described above? Do yourself a favor, look at the other negative reviews and go somewhere else. I had a face and neck lift a year ago with Dr. Gawley. The result is that my face looks worse than when I started and I can't hold my head in certain positions without choking. A picture is worth a thousand words, so check out the numbered issues, and corresponding images. This issues are numbered and in no particular order of importance since they are all equally as serious as the other : 1. First, my right ear is now 3/4" lower than the left ear, protruding like an elf's ear and twisted clockwise one quarter turn(mirror image below) giving me what is called a "pixie ear". It was where it belonged until the surgery, yet Dr. Gawley is in denial. Beware of this possibility, which is worsened by the fact that Gawley refuses to acknowledge his obvious blunder. Adding insult to injury it's only getting worse. There is a constant pulling below my right ear which, with time, will only stretch the earlobe adding to the pixie look. 2. The skin under my chin, which was THE main reason for getting a lift, is hanging way worse than it was before. Not only is it now noticeable from the front of my face, my profile is irreparably worse. (see images!). With the hanging skin and my pixie ear I feel uncomfortable putting my hair back which was my favorite way to wear it. :( Sidebar: And do you know what his partner suggested I do? Use a neck cream that they sell! (Which I incidentally had been using already for years.) Since then Gawley has admitted that there is nothing he can do to improve it (as if I'd let him touch my face again!). 3. Has irretrievably changed he shape of my face. There are different techniques when doing a SMAS facelift (SMAS means that instead of just pulling the skin, this technique addresses the actual sagging of the muscle or root cause of lower face sagging.) One is called "plication" where they fold the muscle over and pin it back and up to more correctly pull the face up. The other is a "smasectomy" where, instead of folding the muscle over as with plication, they cut the extra chunk out of the middle and then sew the halves back together (also referred to as resectioning). I requested the latter since, unlike older patients who may appreciate the extra fullness a plication brings, I coveted the hollow under my cheekbone. (I HATE a full face on me and it took until my 50's to finally have the hollow I want.) But Dr. Gawley got all frazzled and condescendingly said that he wouldn't discuss his techniques with me since I "wouldn't understand" and not to worry, that it will look great. I must have been on crack or something to still have gone through with it. I was just way too excited and had already made my decision so I went against my instinct and am regretting it sorely. 4. This one is nuts: My right masseter, or jaw muscle, was relocated to the center of my cheek on the right side. When I clench my jaw my cheek gets full in a strange way which at best is ugly and at worse is unnatural and definitely NOT an improvement over what it was. So, on top of the folded over SMAS muscle mass, which I specifically and frequently said I did not want, the masseter in my cheek has permanently changed the shape of my face to exactly what I didn't want. (look at before and after!) And since I grind my teeth the muscle gets stronger and bigger adding to that puffiness. It's been suggested that I use botox to shrink it a little and possibly get a tiny bit of the hollow that I used to have in spades and repeatedly said I didn't want to lose. A noteworthy aside is that one of the plastic surgeons I saw to fix it, is dying to go in to see exactly what the hell he did in there, like a case study. 5. My neck looks better but now I can't lay down and bend my neck in certain ways without choking. It feels as if someone was squeezing their hands around my neck but also, as if something is caught in my throat causing a gag reflex. This happens when I look down at my phone, look down at my desktop. or sleep in the wrong position. I literally wake up choking. Actually, right now looking down at my computer I just had a choking fit and had to lift my head to swallow! SO not only has he ruined my face he has also messed with my health. Do not use Dr. Gawley. Read all of the one star reviews. This is far from an isolated incident. You will also see that there are more one and two star ratings most recently. Even though he keeps on practicing, he isn't getting any better. Of course with every bad review he writes a good one but still, if I helped save just one person from the plight that is Bryan Gawley the time spent writing this review is worth it. read more

Back in January I had my consultation with Dr. Geoghegan for a breast lift and tummy tuck after my weight loss journey. Dr. Geoghegan was absolutely nothing short of amazing. She immediately made me feel comfortable, she listened to me and answered all of my questions. She takes her time and you never feel rushed. She makes you feel like you are the most important patient in the room. Fast forward I am one week post op and although I am in the early stages of progress I am so happy and thrilled with how everything is healing and looking. I've also had my first post-op appointment the other day and she was so encouraging and cheering me on for how wonderfully I was healing and moving after just having surgery a week ago. The whole entire staff from the front office, to her Medical assistant Katy, to all the OR nurses, and anesthesiologist made this whole process smooth and seamless. BOTCHED!!! I took my teen daughter here because she unfortunately had one breast not grow and the other was deformed. She has been super self conscious and it has affected her self esteem. Since she had a special case we did consultations with several surgeons before making our decision. We chose Dr. Gawley because he assured us he could make her look great, symmetrical etc. I wish I could put a photo on here...she looks like FRANKENSTEIN. One implant dropped into her stomach area and she can't even wear a bra because the implant is so far below the bra line. The other breast is sagging so much it looks like a 90 year olds breast. When we called in they told us it would be 3k to fix the one that dropped in the stomach area. My daughter got so upset at the looks of it she developed anxiety and dropped out of her first semester of college!!! She can't wear bras so her one breast swings around and the other looks like a blob through her shirt!!!! It's SUPER noticeable and she stays inside. So I took her to three other surgeons and all three basically confirmed she was BOTCHED. When I called upset to tell them we shouldn't have to pay to fix, they scheduled us almost a month out. Then when we went to see Dr. Gawley first he was more concerned with what other surgeons we saw then my daughter who was bawling her eyes out in front of him. Second, he went on and on about how it was common for that to happen and it would continue to take more surgeries and now she needed a mesh that's 4K. I was pissed because if it's common WHY WOULDNT YOU TELL US THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE???? Instead of telling us how great she will look??? I get that other people have had great experiences but unless you have a super typical easy, slide in some implants and call it good kind of surgery...DO NOT GO TO DR. Gawley. He offered to waive his service fees for the surgery....I'd rather pay someone we can trust. ***update I took her to another surgeon in SoCal and he was speechless. But he fixed her!!! All I have experienced is the office staff. I was well received when I called the office. I explained I wanted a consultation with the dr for reconstruction of the breast that was removed due to cancer. I was booked to have a phone conference in a few days with a staff member so I could share my needs. My phone appointment was scheduled for 1:30 pm. No call. I contacted the office at 2:15 pm and found out the staff member was busy with the doctor and would call me at 3:00 pm. I received a call at 4:32 pm. During the conversation at NO TIME did I hear from the staff member an apology for calling me 3 hours after my scheduled appoint. I knew very quickly this was not the place for me. Basic belief in valuing people and their time was not present or expressed by the staff member. I did not request an appointment. read more

DO NOT GO TO GAWLEY. If I could give zero stars I would. Gawley completely botched me. I went to him 1 year ago to get a breast augmentation, on my left side he was supposed to do a lift which ended up being not a lift and it was so saggy. My right side bottomed out and fell into my stomach because according to my new doctor Gawley cut my ligaments from my rib. On top of him doing a terrible job when my mom and I went in to explain our concerns because at this point I had seen 3 other doctors and they all basically said they didn't know what he did, Gawley had no remorse for my situation. He also made it sound like it was my fault my breasts ended up the way they did by possible not wearing my bra as much as I should. The entire time he didn't want to own up to his actions. Gawley offered to "try" to fix them with a second surgery which would cost me another $5000 on top of what I already paid him. In this surgery he said he would put mesh in to held with the sagging but I went to other doctors and told them about the mesh idea Gawley had and they all said that mesh is for old people and it was a terrible idea. Gawley has no idea how to do reconstructive breast augmentations. What's is even worse is my mom was talking to her friend about how bad my surgery went and she was telling my mom how her friend had the same experience she ended up having to go through 3 surgeries and mesh was added for her and it ended up being Gawley that did her surgeries as well. So unless you are just wanting to just go a size up and get a cut and dry surgery do not go to Gawley because he will most likely botch your surgery as bad as mine. read more

This place is fancy, with everyone working there dressing fancy and high end decor. But is that what you are looking for when going to a plastic surgeon. I learned the hard way how bad Gawley is at what he does. After a disaster at the hands of Gawley, I went to a real medical plastic surgeon associated with a highly reputable hospital. Oh my, what a difference. There Gawley's horrific job was fixed. I should have run after the first interview with Gawley. He is arrogant to the max...repeat to the max. I suggest that if you want work done leave it to a medical plastic surgeon doctor, not someone who dresses fancy and thinks he is better than he really is. Dr Gawley left me with scars that I will live with the rest of my life. It has been years and whenever I hear the name gawley I cringe. When he does not know how to do a procedure you want he tells you "you" are not a candidate for that procedure. He ignores what you want - in breast size, and puts in what he thinks I really want. I had to have a double mastectomy due to cancer and he botched the reconstruction so badly that it took doctors in Boston to fix his mess - and doing the procedure Gawley said I was not a candidate for (using my stomach fat to build new breast). He only knows implants and should have sent me to a different doctor but his ego cannot admit he does not know how to do a procedure. Also I wanted no more than a B cup and he put in a C-D. I was mortified. Because he put in such large breast my skin opened up immediately after surgery and turned into a E.Coli infection at a time my blood count was low. I had a high fever for over a week and he tells me through his nurse (he never called) to continue to do what he instructed with the wound. My sister who is a nurse was in shock of what he was having me do so I started to listen to her instead. He refused to write a referral to a wound specialist but instead after a month with my wounds being infected and leaking (you could see the implants through the hole in my breast) he did another surgery to try to stretch the skin even more over the too large breast (he refused to put smaller breast in as I requested since he had to do another surgery) - then a third surgery when the skin started to die to remove the implants. All the while he is getting more money for added surgeries and his wife gets money for her part. HE PUT MY LIFE AT RISK! Being now left with a mess I went to a real plastic surgeon with Brigham and Womens in Boston and he did an excellent job with what I was left with - and no implants, but instead he did what I originally asked for (and told I was not a candidate by Gawley) a DIEP. As others mentioned Gawley deflects any blame onto the patient and is incompetent. Compared to what I experienced in Boston Gawley is a D grade plastic surgeon who pretends to be a doctor. I am so impressed with the level of care I received at this office. Dr Gawley is amazing and so is his staff. Cindy is one of the nurses and she obviously picked the right field of work for her. She never left my side and made me feel so comfortable. And the other day I met the woman who does the injectables, I forget her name but she's a really pretty little blond thing, and she's awesome. I highly recommend this office and everyone in it. I interviewed a lot of places before picking this one, and I don't regret it for one minute. It may not the cheapest place to go, but the level of care is absolutely worth it. Update: last night, after office hours, gawley calls my husband to check up on me and to give him his personal cell number. A woman from the office called me this afternoon to see if I had any concerns. My bilateral mastectomy surgery went very well and he was able to go straight to implants. When I visit the radiologist and oncologist, they've all complimented his work. My wife had a double mastectomy and chose Dr. Gawley to do the necessary reconstructive work needed. After the stress of having to make the decision to get a mastectomy, she had to endure months of pain to recover only to have the the implants fail as they did not stay in place. We would later learn through a second surgery with a different doctor that the implants were not secured well enough to the AlloDerm (mesh) that is needed when someone has a double mastectomy. They basically were just implants being held in by the skin left after the mastectomy. It is far to complex to write all the details down in this review but it was doctor error 100%. Our insurance paid Dr Gawley above and beyond what this procedure normally would cost.He was paid $30,000 for the one hour he worked on my wife. Not only did the implants fail, Dr. Gawley took zero responsibility and then sent an additional bill to my wife for $6000. My wife had to endure a second surgery requiring an additional six weeks of recovery. I'm happy to say she is doing well now thanks to our new surgeon. I would also like to add that Dr. Gawley did say that he would perform the second surgery but there would agree to a total cost of $5000 for the first and the second surgery, on top of what our insurance would pay him for that second surgery as well as what he'd already been paid for the first. He would not be using a surgical center that was covered by her insurance but he would be using his own surgery center (not covered by our insurance) and his own anesthesiologist, his wife (also not covered by insurance). This was not the case for the first surgery. I don't usually post on yelp so I hope that this review saves at least one person from the smoke and mirrors and the money grab of this office. I had breast augmentation on one breast due to unevenness and liposuction on abdomen. Dr. Gawley may be okay with breast augmentation but stay away if you want liposuction. From my experience he is not a specialist in this. I was not a large person to begin with but now hate my results. It is as if he didn't do any lipo. Never had any work done but for a good reason. This doctor betrayed me by discussing my case with my previous surgeon against my wishes. My previous surgeon, who has permanently disfigured me actually got in my face at a follow up appointment and mockingly yelled in my face that he talked to Dr. Gawley about me. Dr. Gawley did my reconstructive breast surgery after a bilateral mastectomy in 2012, and I was not happy with the results. I asked repeatedly during our consultations for an estimate of cup size after the surgery (I wanted a B cup), and he said he could not guarantee the size but that I would be "happy with the results." Instead, I woke up with massive implants and a DD cup, and when asked why he used such huge implants, he really did not have an answer. After several painful months struggling with these implants, I ended up having them removed and replaced by an amazing plastic surgeon at the Mayo Clinic. Now, four years later, after absolutely no contact, I am receiving calls and letters from Dr. Gawley's office, saying I still owe $200. Really? Consultation - I have been wanting a boob job since I breastfed my twins 5 years ago. Immediately upon my consultation, the office felt like home. The front desk girl, Kelsie (sp?) was so cheerful and greeted me immediately. I was brought into a room to meet the doc first and discuss my wishes, before going to the exam room. The exam room was clean and bright. I loved my goody bag I received with a tumbler and hair ties. After changing into my robe, Dr Mahabir came in to take measurements. He went over every option, and the pros and cons of each. We came up with a solid plan that both of us agreed. Brittany, took my before and after a gave me a ton of useful information, especially printing out my wish pictures for the operating room. Pre op-- pre op was an easy experience. Karla was very kind and had gone over everything and answered all of my questions with ease. There was a discrepancy about my prescriptions. My name was incorrect, sent as my nickname instead of full name. They immediately handled that and everything was good to go! Surgery day-- omg want an amazing experience. I felt really welcomed with Tiffany at the front desk. When my nurse Nicole came to get me, I felt a nice connections with her, easing my nerves of all surgical talk and we were able to converse about normal life. She was so informative and she really made me feel like she paid attention to me. Dr Mahabir came in to make his marks and go over our exact surgical plan to make sure we were on the same page. He was so friendly and confident, which I loved. Dr. Fox my anesthesiologists came in and prepped me for what was next, and gave me my feel good meds. Then off we went to the OR! I was happy they wheeled me, instead of me having to walk in the room. Put me at ease. Once I was on the operating room table, Dr Mahabir held my hand and I had a mask put on my nose and face and told to breathe normal. Next thing I know, I'm getting dressed, and ready to go home. I mistakenly went to another surgeon regarding skin cancer removal (upon recommendation by my dermatologist who set it up) AFTER that debacle- I contacted Dr. Gawley and was immediately put at ease. The worst thing for a surgeon-is to have to rectify another's mistakes. Dr. Gawley handled the situation with professionalism, knowledge and a bedside manner which made me feel comfortable. He's the surgeon who tops everyone's lists- and I can personally attest to why! He's well respected in the medical community and that goes a very long way as well. read more

A friend of mine referred me to Dr Gawley for a breast augmentation. I've breast fed 3 children & I was in need of feeling confident again. This is a surgery I considered for 10yrs because I'm more of a natural kind of gal. I had 3 prior consults. 2 of them were awful & 1 was pretty good & I was almost 90% positive I was going to go with that doctor until my friend said go see Dr Gawley. I live in California and was visiting family in AZ & they fit me in for a consult! By the time I left their office I knew I was going with Dr Gawley, no doubt in my mind. The office is very nice, warm & inviting! The staff was professional. And Dr Gawley was so Amazing! He gave the most thorough consult! He spent a long time with me. I didn't feel rushed & he listened to all of my concerns. I was an A cup with asymmetry in my breasts. He let me know that I couldn't go too big due to lack of breast tissue. He let me know that if I didn't get a lift that my breast wouldn't be identical but he could get them close. He showed me pictures of a former client who didn't do the lift but had an asymmetry. He measured & took before photos. He was a true professional! I called them back that day & said I was going with them! They're surgery center is right next door & the staff there are super nice! Everything was very clean! It was my first time ever getting surgery & they made me feel very comfortable & helped to ease my nerves! The entire experience was amazing! Dr Gawley called to check up on me the next day & Amber answered all of my email questions. They sent me flowers. I get so many compliments on my breasts. Sometimes from people I don't even know. They'll very shyly say, you have nice tata's! I have friends of mine who are amazed at how real they look & feel! I'm so happy I found Dr Gawley & I highly recommend him & his staff to anyone who wants a great natural look with a doctor who takes pride in his work! I am a former patient of Dr. Gawley's, and I personally believe he is one of the most talented, compassionate, and genuine plastic surgeons in Arizona. Not only does he have the highest level of integrity, but his reputation and credentials are second to none. He performs reconstructive breast surgery to help patients like you and me who may have been disfigured by another surgeon, and he does so without any judgment and out of the kindness of his heart! You have a completely misguided opinion of this man, and you obviously have too much time on your hands. Your opinions are poorly fashioned, reactionary, and judgmental. Dr Gawley and his staff are incredible! I had a mommy makeover done about 6 weeks ago. From my first phone call, to my consultation, to the surgery and post surgery apts, all of the staff were always friendly and helpful. (I always walk away feeling like they are my bffs) My husband and I were impressed by Dr. Gawley at my first consultation and knew we needed to go with him. He is not only kind and professional, he is a master at what he does. I have had 7 kids, and my body definitely showed it. I had a TT and BA. My husband and I are thrilled with my results! I never thought I'd be totally happy with my belly and breasts again, but Dr. Gawley proved me wrong. He went over and beyond my expectations. I'm almost 7 weeks post liposuction now and still dealing with uncontrolled nerve pain and constant muscle tightness at all sites from having lipo of my abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, hips and chin. I was admitted to the hospital 3 weeks post op. Dr Mahabir helped me when Dr Gawley went on vacation (THANK GOD) because he knew medication management better. As a 15+ year medical sales representative, I was given wrong medication advice multiple times once before being admitted to hospital and once after (thank god I know better and didn't listen and told them immediately- possible medical malpractice had I listened) and they advised me they were sorry for the mistake. They did drive me to the hospital in uncontrolled pain 3 weeks after (thank you). I was told I could go back to work the next week and I couldn't go back for 1 month. I'm still dealing with AWFUL nerve pain. At first I felt like a PRINCESS there but after weeks and weeks of pain, post op issues and MULTIPLE communication breakdowns with staff AFTER my surgery I wouldn't do it again. Also, I wasn't told I would need someone day and night for 48 hours until the IV line was being PLACED!? I had to scramble calling everyone while my IV was in. Post Dr Gawley said "everyone responds differently" to lipo which I agree but this was WAY more than that. It was horrible experience. I'm now at a pain specialist. read more
