Little did I know that the school had retained Vince Tarry Photography to do the shots! When I received the proofs I was simply blown away - he captured an inner joy and carefree aspect of my daughter's personality that I had found so difficult to image (and I have received extensive training as a photographer). As a result, I couldn't buy only one picture, I had to buy a set of several in order to do a 3-up frame that captured her laughter and playful spirit. I cherish these photos (as do her grandparents). Now knowing what I was going to get, the following year I took in both my older and younger daughter for a joint session and, again, was thrilled at the mood they were able to capture. Not surprisingly, I found myself ordering multiple images because the combined shots capture an endearing, priceless moment. It's worth pointing out that my comments implicitly go far beyond the technical work - the photographers know how to work with their subjects to get them to relax and know when to pull the trigger. These are surely the hardest parts to photography; the technical issues are small by comparison. Artistically, this business is a 5. However, they're not exactly cheap and especially since it's basically impossible to only buy one image I think they should have better pricing for large package purchases. Ultimately, I just bought the image files on CD - I couldn't stand the idea of not having all the wonderful pictures. But now I've got the hassle of heading out to a less expensive print shop or doing select, limited prints on my home printer. That said, I'm taking my kids to Vince for their annual photo from now on.

Our preschool used Vince's company and the school pics looked terrible. My child is photogenic and instead she looked very uncomfortable. Background was strange with fake yellow flowers on one side and pink blossoms on another - which are from two different seasons. The class picture was mostly of the playground (again BAD proportions), and taken too far away that you could barely see the kids faces, plus ours had a huge gap in middle like there should have been a few kids there. He synced up with the hotel contact to arrange all the details as to his equipment, set-up time, and understanding hotel and noise policies. I didn't need to get involved in anything. He was pro-active and you knew things would get done. He was on time, and the equipment he has is definitely 5 star quality. That's 5 start out of 5 stars :0) He has all types of music and really wants to understand what the crowd would like to hear so takes requests and encourages them. He's very personable and friendly with his customers. Our particular crowd wanted to hear urban music; world music mostly, but he has everything as I mentioned. Our evening work reception was a huge success then, due to the quality of his nature; quality of the equipment; and quality of the music selection. Our peeps had a great time.

I mean my music tastes include Taylor Swift, so that's all you really need to know. However, I'm so lucky that there are amazing DJs like DJ Meesh who DO understand how people groove and move to music and provides the perfect types of music to set the mood of the party. Everything from hip hop to euro trance, to just background music that's pleasant for chatting to. I hosted a corporate-ish party at a small venue recently and used DJ Meesh because she brings all of her own equipment. That was nice because our venue was fairly bare bones. She was professional, and did not ask for much more than internet connection and electricity essentially. The crowd seemed to do very well with her music and she set the tone of the party super well since people came in, mingled, and even danced when they could. She also brought her own lighting, which was amazing! Seriously it's like a packaged deal I was very thankful for this. She was easy to work with and I did not hear any complaints. I would definitely reach out to her again for future events.

What's great about Paulo is if you have a question or want to meet up in person, he is quick to respond. He put me and my wife first and treated us like family instead of a customer. Paulo even sent us a sample timeline with diff. types of music from one of his previous weddings so you can get a better idea of how to get started. He also suggested a few songs for the wedding to make sure everyone was on the dance floor and it worked the day of! Paulo def. knows how to get the party started. He also took requests from the crowd during the night and even announced it before cutting/scratching to that specific song! Our third meeting was at our rehearsal because my then fiancé wanted everything just right. You know how brides get. But it worked smoothly. From the ceremony music, wedding entrance songs, first dance and last dance of the night, I must say the music put everyone on the same vibe that a wedding should have which are: love, joy, and happiness! I know that sounds cheesy but I can honestly say Sept. 21, 2014 was the best day ever and glad that we chose Paulo and Chris. As a host, Chris did an outstanding job. I could hear the energy and enthusiasm in his voice as he announced us newly weds for the first time. He builds up the hype and can control the crowd at the same time so they can focus on certain parts of a wedding such as a slideshow, first dance and cake cutting. But these guys must be good…read morebecause out of the eight (yes, EIGHT) weddings that I've been to this past year they were the MC/DJ's at 3 of them. Wedding fatigue is a real thing people, but they really know how to keep the energy up. Other bonuses: 1. they come with an MC, Ben who is charming and delightful- knows when to keep things sentimental and when to turn on the humor 2. They dress up! This may seem like a small detail but I hate dj's and photographers who stand out like a sore thumb because their clothing screams "i'm an artist". They put on the button ups and ties which makes you feel like they really care about their image and they respect your event. 3. They come early... like really early with all their equipment and do all their sound testing... i know this cause I like to creep around wedding venues before guests are allowed in :) Finally, they take their task seriously! At one of the weddings I noticed all their equipment was packed up and I asked them when they would start playing. There was a traditional Thai band during dinner and the dj's were supposed to take over for the post-dinner portion but the family was wasted and wanted the band to keep going. The dj's were really concerned that the bride/groom would feel they weren't doing their jobs. I know, sweet right?? Oh, and it goes without saying their music is ReALy good :)
