I went for insurance and without even asking me if I had the money to cover the premium Hillary at Lighthouse signed me up for a loan with Capital Payment Plan. She couldn't even tell me who my insurance carrier was because she put me in an "assigned risk" category so she could offer me a cheaper rate. If you look on their desks they have foot tall piles of invoices for Capital Payment Plan and they also have mugs and desk decorations with that logo as well. When I tried to cancel she told me it was done but it wasn't and they kept billing me. It took 3 months of calls and emails to fix it. They are taking advantage of innocent people who just aren't aware of how insurance brokers should work. When I questioned Hillary about it she tried to tell me this is just "how it works ". Lighthouse insurance is a broker. Call any other broker and ask if this is "how it works". It's not. They are scamming people. I lost about $700 dealing with them.

I got a letter a few weeks ago that I was losing my glass coverage due to "excessive claims." Very weird so I dove into this and found that the claims were popping up incorrectly because my Father and I have the same name. His Geico agent sent me a letter dating and proving the claims were for him and had nothing to do with me. I was also told it was told I have to wait until claims fall off after a certain amount of time which we were now outside of that window but the woman on the phone said "well I am not just going to re run the report again, try back in 6 months." Now I go start shopping policies with other agents, I can't go to SF agency because they don't allow that so I leave all together. This lovely agency tells me they will not cancel my policy without proof of new insurance because that is NY law, my new agent prepped me knowing they would try this tactic and gave me the proof that it is in fact not a law in NY. The woman on the phone said "well this agency requires this." I asked to be transferred to customer retention and the response was "we don't do transfers but I can give you the number." 1 quick customer service phone call confirmed that I do not need to show proof of new insurance in NY and that as of July 28th I will be free of this Ken Kortright agency. Stay away from this insurance broker, they will take all your personal information such as your…read moresocial security number, date of birth, etc... and never call you back with a quote even if you follow up. I called here on 03/04/2026 and spoke to a very kind representative who took all of my personal information for myself, spouse, and home for a homeowners insurance quote. I would be told it would take a couple of days to get a quote back which I said was not an issue but said my homeowners is up for renewal on 04/06/2026. By 03/23/2026 I still heard nothing (almost 20 days later) and called in to ask on the status of the quote. They apologized for the delay and said it was on the managers desk. I stated again my insurance policy renews on 04/06/2026 and they said it would not be a problem that they were working on it. It is now 04/07/2026 and this insurance company has not called me back at all. They were more than happy to take all my personal information, such as my social security number, date of birth, and other sensitive information yet never even provided me with a quote. If there was not a lot of positive reviews for this company, I would be concerned I was scammed out of my personal information, but then again those reviews could be fake as I have had a less than optimal experience.
