I had had my house on the market in Albany a couple of years ago with another agent. After that…read morehorrible experience (I ended up not selling, didn't want that agent to get a cent), I figured all agents were the same. When it truly became time for me to sell to move closer to my job, I called Fraida as she was a familiar brand and she is a gentle and effective marketer...anyway, she redeemed her profession! She and her team (specifically Lisa)had my house on the market on a Thursday night and an offer by Sunday. Fraida turned that one offer into three by Monday and we had a signed contract within 4 days of listing. Oh, and it was for thousands more than I was asking. Boom. Not to mention, she found help for me getting little things done, having people show up to help me move, clean, paint. She paired with me a great lawyer (because one of the great things about Fraida is she "pairs" her clients rather than just have one person available). From the beginning she asked me to trust her. I found that easy to do and she well exceeded my expectations. Selling a house in the ALB? Listen to this woman. She knows her business. Straight up.

Fraida was very enthusiastic about our prosects for finding both. Another limitation we had...we were coming from out of state - a flight away, not a reasonable drive, so we were really depending on her to come through. Fraida said she would help us and we needed to sign a contract authorizing her to be our buyer's agent. Along with that, she told us there we needed to pay a $250 fee for her services. We suspected that was an Albany way of doing things, but being from somewhere else we didn't know that it was just her and we didn't have anyone to check with. She helped us find a rental...it was dog-friendly and that was enough. When we arrived in September we were eager to find a house to buy and Fraida dragged her feet. She kept telling us the houses available weren't right for us. We told her about specific properties that we'd seen advertised but she kept having reasons not to show us those properties. Finally she told us she thought she'd be able to find us a great match in the springtime. In the end, we did our own legwork, made our own phone calls and found ourselves a house. She recommended a mortgage broker and an inspector, neither of whom we were happy with and would never hire again. In fact, the inspector was completely incompetant and was more focused on the "spiral bound report" we'd get than on inspecting thoroughly. Since then we have worked with other realtors and we've learned that while many have good relationships with others, many dislike Fraida for the negative impression she makes on buyers and sellers in the Captial District. Still Fraida seems to have a successful business so she must be doing something right. I have no idea what that might be.
