I can't stop looking at my photos!…read more I had such a great experience working with John Bartenhagen! He shot my wedding and my photos are fantastic! I loved that John was so responsive each time I reached out! Not only would he respond right back but many times if my questions were complicated he would ask to schedule a FaceTime so we could work out the details! Once you connect with John, he sets up a virtual meeting to make sure that you understand all he provides and his style of photos will meet your needs. He listens and plans all the details so you know exactly what to expect. He has an automated contract and payment service that makes both processes one-click simple. John also includes a engagement sitting with his service so you will have great "Save the Dates." John will prompt you for all the details at just the right time which takes the worry off you. He will discuss all the shots you want to capture and who you want more or less ;) pictures of. We did a walk through the week before at our wedding site and John's creative eye identified so many great photo opportunities, I knew I was going to have some really great shots and it got me so excited. At the "first look" I was pretty impressed when I saw John had a photo checklist tool on his phone to make sure every shot was captured. During the wedding/reception John was there to capture every shot and he did it in such a way that you never noticed him or the lighting stands. One of the best reasons to select John as your photographer is that within a couple of weeks (quicker than most) he delivers your print ready photos to his site and you can download them all in minutes. There are no additional charges to to download and share them with your guests or you can print them yourself! Although I can't say enough about John being the best choice for your wedding photographer and that he will be so easy to work with and deliver incredible photos. I will highlight that John is one of the nicest and "good hearted"people I have worked with. He is such a kind and caring person... it was a true delight to meet John. I'm so pleased that I will have such great memories of working with him each time I look at our photos!

After doing some online research and talking with a few photographers I decided to work with Stacey. We met in Old Town Alexandria one Saturday afternoon in October. I was nervous at first but shortly into our photo session I felt at ease as Stacey is friendly, professional and fun, not to mention amazing at what she does! She was also great with our greyhound and got some adorable shots of him. Stacey has a wonderful eye for light and color and found a lot of unique backgrounds for our photos. Our online gallery was available after about a week and a half and the results were fantastic! Soon after, Stacey scheduled a free consultation with us to view all our photos on the large computer screen that she has and to help us pick out which prints and framing options we wanted to put up in our home. She even helped us decide how best to place the photos on the wall. We received all our prints last week and have gotten our framed prints up on the wall, we couldn't be happier! If we were staying in the area I would absolutely work with Stacey again in the future.

I moderated a panel last week and a panelist I was being introduced to said, "yes, the woman with the most amazing head shot." Yesterday morning we did our 5th(!) family mini session shoot with Stacey in a garden next to the Capitol. It's wonderful to get these beautiful shots of our children growing up -- and have some shots with me that I love that aren't selfies! Years ago Stacey took an iconic (among our family and friends) photo of my son sulking off to the left of the Washington monument when my husband and I were were standing to the right smiling while pregnant with our daughter. That same day Stacey was able to joke around with our son and get the best shots of him smiling and enjoying himself. Our daughter enjoys the shoots just as much. Thank you, Stacey!

She is absolutely at the top of our list of all our wedding vendors. She is incredibly talented, professional, responsive, and patient. Over the months leading up to the wedding and after the engagement shoot (what a great decision that was to do!!!), Jan answered a myriad of questions leading up to the wedding (many not even remotely related to photography). She always answered emails immediately. Something we very much appreciated. Talented and caring is a wonderful combination in a photographer. Certainly there are other photographers who also have her amazing camera skills, but Jan has something that sets her apart. She is a kind, relaxed person with a wonderful ability to handle complex & confusing situations. She knows how to get people to relax in front of the camera & completely forget she is there - this equals amazing photos. I really do not think we understood when we started the selection process how important personality is when it comes to selecting a wedding photographer. But, we learned, it should be high on your list, right after photographic skill. We were so fortunate to have heard wonderful reviews of Jan and that helped us a lot in picking her. We had people going every which way the day of the wedding. But Jan had asked us ahead of time to think through what pictures we would want of family and friends. We did not quite "get" why we were doing it but the day of the wedding it became clear - Jan and her assistant had everyone in and out of shots before we knew it. Her assistant, by the way, was superb also. As we look back now at these gorgeous pictures, we realize no one was missed. During the day of the wedding, our entire bridal party totally lost it - what to do next, where to go, when to go. Jan, gently and sweetly, kept us on track the entire day. But she was never in your face, never intrusive. Most of the evening, we do not even remember seeing her or her assistant. But the glorious photos prove she was there! Jan posted the wedding pictures almost immediately after the wedding. We sent out the link to family and friends and the response from has been universally -- what gorgeous photos. She was able to capture not only the photos of the day, but perhaps most importantly the mood of the day which can be best described as - magical. No, Jan did not pay us to write this review, she is simply that good. We are so very happy we decided to go with her. When it is all said and done, the wedding flies by in a nano second. What you have left are memories and your photos. This is not an area to skimp on. Go for the best --- Jan Michele is simply the best. But hey, don't listen to us, trust your eyes. Her work on her web site says it all. Jan is a true artist who cares deeply about her work and her clients.
