Steven B. BEWARE: I got shafted royally by this place and as…read morefar as I'm concerned, they give Colorado a bad name. I have a Mercury 225hp outboard, my alarm was going off and I didn't know what was causing it, I call Island Lake Marina and made appointment for 008-15-2024. They told me my low-level oil float was stuck causing the alarm to sound off and that I would have to have the tank replaced because the float is built in and not replaceable. Its the small tank on the motor. But other than the alarm going off its okay to drive.. They charged me $150.00 ... Then told me another tank would cost $140.00 and an hour labor for installation $150.00, total $290.00. Brought it back on 10-02-2024 and went to pick it up on10-03-2024. The lady at the counter shows me the bill and I was totally stunned $730.08. I realize shops have a 10% give or take but this was ridiculous. I was told he put an inline filter, check valve and a cap where you pour the oil in to the main tank because the old one was hard to get off. $60.00 for those, for a total of $199.00 for parts, Adding another $60.00 to the original estimate, would bring it to $350.00. I was being charged over double. Screwing a cap on, small inline filter and check valve could be done by me in less than 15 minutes. That does not justify another $350.00 and I'm sure purging out the air was figured in on the original estimate. That has to be done on any tank replacement. Oh, and lets not forget the $150.00 I paid for them to say I need the tank, which should have been deducted since they did the work. Brings the total to $880.08 for replacing a tank with 3 bolts in it.. Then when we were hooking my boat up, my girl said the key was left in it in the on position. I get home, friends are waiting, hook up the water and all my batteries in it was dead as a door nail and would not turn over. Then I look down on the side they were working and my taillight on my trailer broken. I was so mad. I felt like I was sucker for punishment. Paid $880.08 , dead battery and broken light, for a $350.job... I will regret taking my boat there for a longtime or the rest of my life, since I'm over 65. Attached photos

I have been a customer here for years, and wow, service has gone downhill. I have an older ski…read moreboat but have committed my business to Great Lakes since they have done so much work on the engine, electrical. I have had to take back the boat multiple times with out it being fixed correctly the first time. This most current time is after paying 3k for new pulleys and belts, water pump, impeller, the boat never ran right leaving us stranded twice on the lake. The worst is yet to come, the house that service built, is a joke to me now. The gentlemen got upset with me asking for a part # to see if I could expedite it so I could keep family plans for the weekend and not disappoint people coming to town to enjoy the lake. He cussed on the phone and refuses to talk to me know. Each time I ask for he manager Kevin, he is not there. I am human I make mistakes, we all do, I am giving them a chance, but I asked for transparency and communication which I did not receive. No apologies ever just an excuse that they are human and they make mistakes. I understand this as a person who helps others in recovery, we all do. I am asking for simple service and customer service steps. Hopefully they can call me back to be communicative, set an expectation and show some sense of urgency for my time, my money and my plans. I would not recommend going if you want simple service, and good communication and putting the customer first. All 3 they failed on, and in an ever more competitive world you would think service is what would stand you apart from the competition.
