I realize this was lost revenue for Lamar's Appliance Repair, but I appreciate their honesty diagnosing the problem and being truthful that we were better off getting a new fridge instead of repairing it. Replacing the broken piece would have cost nearly as much as a new refrigerator, but that was also money they would not earn from us. I really appreciate that they looked up any possible warranty angle on the compressor as well. Like I said above, if you need an appliance service / repaired, give Lamar's Appliance Repair a try!

The problem was a broken latch which I already knew. They then quoted me an additional $262 for the repair. The price seemed high, but I wanted to get the issue resolved, so I agreed to move forward. Keep in mind the part was $18 and he was there for about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, they were unable to fix the dishwasher, even after I was responsible for ordering the replacement part myself. When the repair still did not work, they agreed to only refund $80 of the $362, despite not resolving the issue. Instead, the only solution they offered was to install a brand-new dishwasher, which was not helpful. I am fine paying some money for their time and I was hoping for a fair solution. Overall, I was very disappointed with both the outcome and the lack of accountability when the repair was unsuccessful. I know there are more honest upfront guys out there who are not going to charge you a crazy amount when they can't fix the exact thing you paid them to do. So do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

I quickly did an online search of the part that needed to be fixed and it ranged from $16-$50, depending on the site selling it. I realized there would be a labor fee involved as well but this quote seemed very high. I asked the technician why it was almost $400 to replace a part that was so cheap. He explained their labor fee of $250 but that still left a good almost $150 he was charging for the part that at tops should cost $50 (and probably a lot less for Mr. Appliance of Lehi). I told him I'd pay the service charge but was confident I could have another company do it for less. Immediately, I called 3 of their competitors in the area and asked what it would cost to replace the part. They all quoted $150-$175. All of them also asked me what error code I was getting on my dryer. When I told them, they were puzzled that the technician from Mr. Appliance had told me what the problem was because they disagreed just based on the error code. A technician from another company came out and looked at the part in question and stated that wasn't the reason the dryer wasn't working and stated the part was just fine. He did one minor thing on the dryer, which fixed the issue. I tried to resolve this with Mr. Appliance of Lehi because I shouldn't be charged for a misdiagnosis. If their original diagnosis was correct, why did 3 other companies question the diagnosis and then one technician actually stated it wasn't the issue once he'd seen the dryer himself. If the part needed to be replaced that Mr. Appliance said was the problem, it's also curious that the dryer now works. Mr. Appliance gave me a response from their owner, which was pretty dismissive. Not only will I never be a customer of theirs again, but do your homework when working with this company. If they charge almost $400 when several of their competitors would do the same repair for $150-$175, that gives you reason to think.

Further they were barely any help at all to try to source new parts (did most of the legwork myself). Instead they stuck a heavy wrench tool between hinge where the door meets the oven body and applied body weight pressure against the door -- which they said has worked for other customers it did absolutely nothing at all to fix our issue except to make everything worse. Then they spent the next 15 minutes telling me to consider a new $3000+ unit.

They delivered and set up the units on April 18th and immediately we had issues with the wash machine not spinning the clothes adequately, and the problems progressively worsened, until the tank would not fill and eventually stopped working altogether. We contacted them on May 2nd (exactly 2 weeks later) and requested for the repair under the warranty. We texted video of the problem to the woman as she requested. She said she would arrange for the technician to pick up the washer and repair it. Five days later we have not received any call back and they refuse to answer our phone calls or reply to texts. We will be pursing other action against this company unless they perform under our sales / warranty agreement. I will update this review depending on their response.

Lourie was extremely knowledgeable and, upon answering a few of her questions, we came to the conclusion that the repair would cost more than replacing the washer itself. It's increasingly rare to find a company that is willing to put customer service ahead of profit and help someone avoid throwing good money after bad. I would highly recommend Lourie and L&K Appliance Repair to anyone, and we will certainly be using them the next time we have, any type of appliance issue.

I don't feel like most people these days are willing to just help a stranger out like she did, especially after business hours, but she was great!
