Re-building and updating our Alarm system in over 10k sqft house damaged/flooded from Dec 2022 hard freeze. First of all, this system called me and the police to say the house was having an issue. excellent! We were out of town Craig and Adam came out, repaired what was damaged and after 2 yrs of rebuilding with StateFarm Ins (the worst experience), they came back out and finalized the alarm system and even upgraded it to WiFi and cellular comm. These guys are super personable, friendly, knowledgeable. reasonable and i would consider them as good friends now. This is a 180 degree experience from whatever those other reviews are from years past. Stephens electronics (A1 vacuum) put a central vacuum in my house 20 years ago. Jim was always the kindest man and helped us every time we needed. Once he switched to Stephens electronics in hot springs it all changed. I ordered a part with them and it took 3 months to get in. When the part came in, they never would call me back to schedule an appointment. When I talked to them, one lady hung up on me. The next person, the owner told me he would not do business with me???? All I was asking for was an appointment. Very strange and worst business and customer service I have ever had. We live in a large hone and all I wanted was my central vac to work. I would not use them for anything!!!! Beware. Now they have my part for my Central vac off my warranty!!!!!! read more

We called Stephens Electronics, Inc in Hot Springs, Arkansas to add a security system and cameras to our 2nd home in Arkansas. Things started out great. The owner, Craig Christopher, of Stephens Electronics, Inc in Hot Springs, Arkansas, was prompt showing up for our appointment and very knowledgable about the various products/systems available and we were eager to get his quote and move forward with an estimated $10,000.00 system. We received the first quote about 5 days later and wanted to move forward. Then, Craig Christopher (President/Owner) advises it will be several weeks to get to our project based on other jobs and things going on in the business in his personal life. OK, we will wait. It will be worth it. 2 weeks later we beg for a revised quote as we added a few more cameras and made some additional upgrades and ask a few questions. We finally get the revised quote and it's a GO as far as we are concerned. So, we set a tenative date to set up test cameras to be sure wireless will work and confirm we are able to review remotely. If all goes well, we wanted to immediately proceed with a full install. Again, note that we are looking to spend close to $10,000.00 to $11,00.00. Then, all communication stops! Calls not returned even when calling office or cell. No replies to emails and we sent them daily. Mind you, we are going direct to the owner and this is how we are treated. Finally today, after wasting over 35 days of our time, we get an email saying he is too busy with other jobs and other stuff outside of work to do our job. (Must be nice to be so busy that your are turning down jobs over $10K) It's shocking to waste this much time on something, be prepared to make the investment, and then deal with a business like this that can be so unprofessional! We wanted to work with a locally owned company and feel it's important to support local businesses...Guess not a great idea in this case. If you are a business that is so busy or has too much going on in your personal life, why not say that 35 days ago and don't come to our home in the first place to quote our job when you know the scope of the project on the front end? I contacted this company to get a previously installed system reset to factory default. The problem I faced was, moving into a rental unit, the previous tenant did not leave the landlord the unlock code. I contacted this company over a month ago and they proclaimed it would only be $75 to unlock the unit. Contacted them today to find out that, the owner, wanted to sell me a new device. He claimed my $60 board wasn't sufficient enough. Now wait?! I am a customer that only wanted to service an existing unit, not upgrade an already installed system in a rental that isn't even my property. He informed me that I would probably need a new battery and other things, the $75 only covered them showing up. I am an electronics technician and testing to see if a battery is good is child's play. Also testing the magnetic switches in the door, which I already did. It seemed as though he only wanted to come out if he was going to make some extra cash for his trouble. Avoid this company. It's a wonder that they are still in business with the customer relations they possess. I'd just soon pay the manufacturer to re-flash the control chip and reprogram the unit myself than to deal with someone trying to buffalo me into upgrading.
