Love this office, front office staff and Dr Wong. Have been going since 2016, for allergy shots . Had suffered for years with Asthma , upper respiratory and sinus infections . Then hives became a chronic problem. I am pretty much symptom free due to the protocol Dr Wong put me on. I owe my great health to this office. I feel like a miracle baby. And now I am around dogs all the time , no issues. As a patient , I did my part and showed up for injections and appointments as instructed. Also asked questions , which were patiently answered. Got there at his office at 3:00 pm for my 3:15 pm appointment. I specifically told his staff I have to leave at 3:45 pm for my other appointment next door. The rude staff told me if I leave they would charge me $25 for no show fee. I paid already $25 co pay and got in the room at 3:15. Waited for 30 mins still no doctor. Went to the next door clinic to notify i will be a little late. Came back to doctor wong's appointment and was told i am no longer a patient today since i left. Arrogant and rude office manager. Dr. Wong is always very patient and never rushes from one patient to another, he really makes sure that all the issues are addressed and always finds a way to help patients for the costs of certain medications and treatments when it is possible. I'm a little torn to write this review since I found Dr. Wong to be a very personable and knowledgeable doctor. I moved from Washington DC after having seen an allergist there for over 3 years where I took regular allergy shots. I found Dr. Wong through yelp and he is also the only allergist in Hacienda Heights. This is important because if you plan to take regular allergy shots, you need someone close since this can be a time consuming endeavor. Anyway, I have nothing negative to say about Dr Wong, but I am disappointed in their incompetent front office staff. After 2 appointments with Dr Wong, the first being when I took my allergy test shots and the 2nd to recommend a treatment plan after getting my results from my Washington DC allergist, I noticed that they wanted me to sign paperwork stating that I would pay a copay for my injections. Now, I knew this was incorrect since I had the same insurance as I did in DC, Dr. Wong is a preferred provider within my insurance, and for over 3 years at my other allergist, I never had a copay for injections. I only paid when I had a visit with the actually allergy doctor. Anyway, to make a long story short, after calling my insurance company several times and the doctor's office also calling my insurance company, it was determined that I wouldn't have any copays for injections shots. Unfortunately, this took a lot of arguing and explaining to them which was incredibly frustrating and made me less than confident about their billing department. I found them rude, condescending, and very unprofessional and can't recommend going to them even if they are the only allergist in town. read more

Dr. Wong is a great doctor, very knowledgeable yet great at explaining everything to his patients, but his time management is so poor. We had a 5 p.m. telephone visit with him, at first that a staff called in ten minutes after the scheduled time and told that the doctor will call back, guess what? The doctor didn't call back till 7:20 p.m. as he finished with all of his clinic patients, what is the point when your staff scheduled me for 5 o'clock and put me on hold to waited all the time, sorry that I am not on your payroll, so it's not my job to waited on you! So I was referred to this specialist from my primary doctor. I was hesitant on searching for help because each time I get checked nothing is ever wrong with me but my primary doctor convinced me to try a specialist. First off this doctor off the bat didn't seem to take me serious because I am very young I'm 24 and I've heard him speak to older patients in a more polite manner. I'm just here to get some help because I've been having allergies all year long but having doctors like this is very discouraging to try to find help. I've been here 3 time and charged a copay of 65! I developed asthma as a young adult. I'm a senior now, and in all that time have only seen two doctors for asthma. The first I chose because he was a few blocks from my house. I saw him for a couple of years before he took on a young partner. I didn't realize at first that he was planning to retire soon, and this partner was actually chosen to take over his practice. That was Stephen Wong. I've been seeing him for decades now. He knows me by name and remembers the major points of my history by heart. He only looks at my chart to flesh out the details. He takes his time with me, answers my questions, and poses questions to me. In my opinion, he has never over-prescribed. (A reviewer below rants and raves because Dr. Wong prescribed prednisone, which the reviewer thought had nothing to do with his problem and was a way for the doctor to get him hooked on steroids. Prednisone is a steroid, but an anti-inflammatory. Dr. Wong has prescribed it for me occasionally because an asthma attack involves inflammation, and an anti-inflammatory reduces the inflammation. I never took it for more than a few days, and am not addicted to it!) Several reviews mention the long wait time to be seen. This was true in the past. I put up with it because I wanted to see the doctor, but I did complain to staff. (By the way, the staff have never been rude to me. Several even remember my name on sight, like the doctor does. I've never seen the staff being rude to anyone else either.) A year or more ago, the long waits suddenly ended. I guess the doctor and/or staff took the complaints to heart and just shaped up. So if you're hesitant to come here because of the wait time, you don't need to be. (At least for now. I can't predict the future.) All in all, I have no complaints and lots of praise. There were even a couple years when I had an insurance plan where Dr. Wong was not in their system, and I chose to come here ON MY OWN DIME rather than go somewhere else. Dr Wong is terrific Doctor. He will sit down and explain each and every detail and spend some time to go over the results with you. On top of that, the staff are wonderful too. I have never been to a doctor's office who is on top of things. When you are waiting for the referral to come in the mail the have already called u to set up and appointment. They are on top of things. Even when I needed more prescription to be filled they call right away. This place is so awesome. I wish all doctors or specialists were like them. I went to Stephen Wong for a persistent lingering cough and he started asking if I've ever had any sexually transmitted diseases. That was a little weird. Of course the answer is no. Then he started pushing if I've taken any trips recently out of the country or to Las Vegas. My answer to all of them was still "No". No trips out of the country. No weekends in Vegas and never had any STD's. Now can we get back to my cough, please? I'm no doctor, but my impression is a cough isn't a symptom of any STD I know of. Also, would you really go to an allergy specialist, if you had herpes. I don't think so. First thing Stephen Wong did was prescribe me Prednisone. That's a steroid by the way and what's crazy is he didn't disclose to me that it is a steroid. I had to call him on it. An allergy specialist prescribing steroids??? Oh, you're allergic to dust, HERE'S SOME STEROIDS! You can't eat peanuts, HERE'S SOME MORE STEROIDS! RIDICULOUS! I am familiar with the steroid he prescribed because my mom takes it. Once you start these steroids you cannot stop or you will die. I refused. Anyway, he then started sticking me with all these tests and said, "We'll call you in a couple of days." Couple of days go by, I get a call from his office, the results are negative. "Do you still have the cough?" They asked me. I told them, "Yes." They asked. "Do you want to take the steroids?" I said "No." They replied, "Alright, we'll reschedule another appointment for another test." What came next was a barrage of tests with needles and blowing throw pipes and x-rays and you name it. He was racking up all kinds of fees and charges. Ultimately, he couldn't find anything and then he asked me, "Are you really sick?" As if I was faking it. At the time I was working 55-60 hours a week and to think I had time in between that hectic schedule to come take tests for fun is ridiculous. This Stephen Wong guy is ridiculous. Took $3,000 to tell me it's not an allergy and he tried to get me hooked on steroids without telling me. I wouldn't even call him a doctor. He doesn't really care about your well being. He'll put you through every test he has to rack up bills and get you hooked for life on his drugs so he can make money. As for why he kept asking me about sexually transmitted diseases for a cough, I couldn't begin to guess. Probably some personal issue with him. I've been to a few doctors in my life. I got a full physical with another doctor, they never asked me about STD's. Nowadays, I try not to push myself too hard. I pace my workload and guess what, no more cough. I was referred to Dr. Wong by a coworker who also sees Dr. Wong. For the past year, I've been plagued with migraines and went to a bunch of doctors, took a bunch of medication, tried accupuncture to no avail. Then she recommended this Dr...I don't have any known allergies, but maybe a hidden one, but at this point, I'm willing to try anything. The office is older, but clean, in a medical building in Hacienda Heights. The staff was super friendly even though they were busy. When I saw Dr. Wong, he was super nice and has this sense of humor, I liked him immediately. And he asked questions and actually tried to get my complete background. I got tested for allergies by an assistant who was super sweet and I found out I was super allergic! who knew! Dr. Wong explained everything to me and actually came up with a few possible explanations for my migraines/headaches. He didn't just prescribe me medication and waved me off and blamed it on stress like the 20 other doctors I saw. He was actually trying to help me! I was so grateful and excited at the possibility of resolving this puzzle..He was thorough and concerned and he said even if none of the causes he came up with turned out to be the solution, he will know more through the xrays and sleep tests and allergy pills and will find the problem. At first I didn't know why I was going to him and felt stupid, but, he made me feel I came to him a bit too late! :) We need more doctors like him, not the ones that just medicate you and take your money. :P read more

Dr. Wong and the employees are good but the system for allergy shots is inconvenient. I was previously getting shots at Optum and the system was much more efficient and practical. They would take you in right away (Dr. Wong's office is always a wait after you check in, even if no one else is there), ask how everything went last time, quickly explain where you're at and what they're doing this visit, give you the shots, and only require you to stay 20 minutes if it's a higher dose than last time. Otherwise, you're free to leave and go about your day. At Dr. Wong's office, they force you to stay for 20 minutes every single time, and many times you're waiting for 30 minutes before they check you out. So for each visit, you have to plan for about 40-45 minutes of your day each time. When I ask any questions about where I'm at with the timeline of shots or another basic question, they seem uncertain or I get conflicting info. read more

Dr. Wong is part of an Asthma & Allergy clinic. He is a great doctor. I have really bad asthma and allergies and Dr. Wong has been very helpful in trying to get me well. He remembers who you are! I saw him once and then a year later and he still knew who I was. It's a great thing when a doctor knows who you are because they can help you. He is very friendly and very experienced. He is great for kids and adults. He has an office in Hacienda Heights and I believe the other one is in Monterey Park*. I wish all my doctors were like Dr. Wong. He's one of the most detailed and caring MDs I've ever encountered. He truly cares about not only your well being from an allergy stand point but also taking into consideration other aspects of your health as well. After spending 5 years at another allergist at the House Ear Clinic with my allergies spiraling downward, I was referred to see Dr. Wong to see if he could help. I was at the time suffering from increasing medicine, food and environmental allergies and my previous allergist had given up on me. Dr. Wong stepped in and reformulated my antigens for allergy immunotherapy and I've been there for the past 8 years. My allergies have improved tremendously and my vertigo has been reduced down to nothing. Dr. Wong and his extensive staff from the front desk to the nurses who work on the injection side are all friendly and makes you fee at ease. Yes, at times the wait can be a bit longer than expected but the time he spends with you in the exam room more than makes up for it. He never rushes you through an appt like many other doctors do and truly devotes that one on one time with you to ensure you get the best care possible. He has another office in Alhambra and spends part of the week in Hacienda Heights. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone with allergies or asthma. read more

They will make sure to get you tested and treated for any issues you may be dealing with and allow you to come every week.
