I've been to Dr. Ho's office several times now, once in July since the pandemic started. Staff is very polite and professional, they wear face shields and masks to protect us, and they remember your name, you're not just another patient. Parking is validated, but you have to pay like $5. Seen Dr.Ho for an emergency. Spoke to the receptionist Char who was very friendly over the phone. She was so kind to squeeze me in that same day. Upon my visit I found the office to be nice and clean. I was greeted with a warm welcoming smile from Char and she was very helpful in answering some of my questions regarding my dental insurance coverage. Meeting Dr.Ho I found him to be very knowledgeable,caring and patient. His assistant took radiographs of my tooth and Dr.Ho has this scope with a camera which I was able to see what he was seeing as he explain what his findings are and what proper treatment recommended to get done. Dr.Ho really took his time explaining what the treatments consisted of and answered all my questions and concerns. So, happy I found his office. I will be back again for sure. read more

I haven't seen any Dentist for about two years, and I decided to look for a new dentist that makes me feel like they do care about their patients. I am so glad I took my co-worker's advice to switch to Dr. Ho. The first visit was amazing, they took pictures of all your teeth and x-ray.(which my precious dentist didn't do) And of course I found out that there are lots of work need to be done to my teeth. haha... Dr. Ho and all his staff was so friendly and nice, and the clinic is clean and parking isn't an issue at all. And also I really like Dr. Ho use ipad to show you how your teeth's cavity look like, so you have better idea how serious they are. lol Highly recommended. read more

Granted, my reason for coming here in the first place was because I live a few seconds away from their office. But Dr. Stephen Ho is now my regular dentist and I didn't even bother trying anyone else. - I never have to wait more than 10 minutes. The one time the Doctor was running late (30 mins), the receptionist informed me he had an emergency surgery earlier right away so I knew what was going on. - He does cosmetic dentistry plus regular procedures. Personally, I don't see why you would go to a dentist that also doesn't specialize in making your teeth look great. - Everyone is super nice, including the doctor. He also cares about the patient's health. Example: I want to get braces in the near future and instead of pushing the more expensive route, he actually promoted the 'cheaper yet better for my bite and hence my health' route. I still decided to go with the more expensive one (screw long term haha - who wants to wear obvious metal/plastic for a year or two) but at least he tried to get me to do what's right for my long-term dental health. - He has a controlled-injection system for freezing the mouth, which is basically a way to reduce pain. These things are awesome, especially once the freezing goes away. - Some people might find this a con: he does prefer composite fillings (the white kind) over the amalgam ones (the metal kind) and he will tell you this albeit very gently. However, I am in complete agreement that the metal ones are evil (!) so this was a pro for me. He still does the metal ones if you want them. But do you really want tiny, tiny bits of mercury going into your stomach as the filling decays over time??! Ok, it's less mercury than fish I'm sure but still! Now if only I could find a good doctor... read more

I have since been here two other times since my last review and scheduled first thing in the morning appointments for both- was taken in as soon as possible. I had 4 cavities done and was extremely nervous- the dentist and assistant went out of their way to make sure I was completely comfortable. My family was visiting Honolulu from New Jersey last August when my 10 year old daughter started crying because her brace wire was poking the inside of her cheek. Dr Stephen's office was the second i called for an emergency visit. I am so glad the first office didn't pick up because the care she received at Dr. Stephen's office was excellent. It started with the very warm staff but most importantly Dr. Stephen was extremely gentle with my daughter, especially when applying the anesthetic. He very patiently explained what he was doing throughout the process. At the end of the visit, the nice woman at the front desk filled out the claim form so I could submit to my insurance company (she couldn't submit it herself because I didn't know which CIGNA entity I use). bottom line is Dr. Stephen was great and I recommend him to Honolulu residents and tourists like me who need dental services. read more

Dr. Stephen Ho has been my dentist for a long time and I am totally satisfied with all the work he has done throughout the years. What makes me relaxed and comfortable is how Dr. Ho calmly describes what he is doing in a procedure, why he is doing it, and what is coming next. He actually takes the time to explain why he does things! For those individuals that don't like needles, you will appreciate how Dr. Ho will first numb the gum area with a topical gel so that you hardy feel anything at all when he injects the local anesthetic. I especially like how Dr. Ho will take a digital photo using a tiny camera, upload the picture of my tooth onto a monitor so we can both look at it, while he explains what is happening with my tooth. The staff is top-notch. Charlene (Char), dental assistant/office manager, is very efficient, always calling/texting me the day before my appointment as a friendly reminder (Oh boy, thank goodness for some of those reminders.) You can tell that Natalie, dental hygienist, truly cares about me, as we regularly discuss how my daily teeth brushing routine should include proper flossing and attention to the gum area. I went to see Dr. Ho because I had a black spot on my molar that I thought may be a cavity. His office manager Karen was very friendly on the phone, she even got me a visit on the day I called. Dr. Ho was very nice. Dr. Ho talked me through his findings, showed me with the camera-scope what exactly he was looking at, and offered several recommendation choices. Dr Ho has been my dentist for over 25 years and I wouldn't go to anyone else! Under his care my teeth are in great condition!!! Wanted to share a recent experience... my tooth started hurting. I woke up to a dental emergency [wisdom teeth] at two am this morning. Still new to the area and on my own, I was nervous to try and go through the process of finding a physician to help. Thanks to Google, I found DDS Ho, right behind my apartment. I went in without calling the second they were open [8am]. Normally I would call first, but this was an emergency. They were very kind and sweet and made sure to try and help me out. They were able to squeeze me in at 9:15a, even though they had a full schedule. And for good reason. I was feeling physically ill and they made sure to help me out and made sure that i was comfortable and taken care of. The whole staff was very professional, understanding, the office was beautiful and clean, and the whole experience was very calming. The effort made to make the patient feel at ease was astonishing, from the music to the view, to a calming photo placed on the ceilings. They were able to give me an equally wonderful and clean referral, as well. This physician and his team has certainly earned every award they were given, and my respect. I went to Doctor Stephen Ho's office on Saturday February 13 for an emergency tooth extraction. He was so kind and Professional but very welcoming and sweet. I'm sure he could see how scared I was, its been awhile hence the Emergency Extraction Lol. One of the most scary parts of the dentist, that fears me is Yes the Needle. But Doctor Ho is a True Tooth Whisperer. He was Gentle on my mouth he kept me calm and relaxed and most of all I didn't feel a single thing. The Procedure took a little over an hour he took really good care of my Mouth. He had such patience with me, cause I was more nerves then anything about just being there. Doctors scare me period. Dr. Ho and staff are the most pleasant dentist I have ever been to. I have been going to their office for 6 years now. They always ask how I have been doing and talk story to make me feel comfortable when I am waiting to see Dr. Ho. I currently live in Japan, but when I come home to Hawaii for short family visits Dr. Ho always makes time to accommodate my tight schedule. During my last visit home, Dr. Ho was able to fix my fractured tooth, help me get a referral and complete a root canal for the fractured tooth, and filled in my cavities.
