Recently purchased an engagement ring at Calgary Jewellery…read more The selection was excellent, with very wide price ranges available. The sales staff was actually extremely helpful and (surprisingly for a jewellery store) the staff does not try to push you towards unaffordable prices/options. Just be honest with your budget and expectations, and the staff will do its best to help you select the best option. Apparently, the owner of the jewellery store is often on site, making sure that all customers get excellent service. It's nice to know that he is there checking up on things, so when we had a concern he was immediately available to resolve it, and he invited us to express any future concerns so they can be addressed. Great purchase, great staff, great selection, great proposal.

It's a common misconception, I think, that most men believe that custom made engagement rings would…read morecost more than if they would just go to a brand jewelry store. I discovered Marlow Diamonds & Design when I went to jewelry stores and found that they could only give me a close match of what I wanted, and not 100%. As a customer, you have the right to get exactly what you paid for. Marlow sat down with me in front of a computer and showed me concept designs of engagement rings until I saw something that made me go, 'This is exactly how I envisioned it'. He never tried to upsell beyond my given budget. He is not a pushy salesman. He would just let me decide and point out the features that I want until I was satisfied. From start to finish, the end product was exactly as shown on the rendered image. No surprises. No wondering why it looks different from the render. We even had to resize the ring at the last minute to a smaller piece, and they were able to accommodate our request. Excellent customer service! My fiancee loved every detail. Marlow will make sure that every dollar you spend here is well spent!

We chose this jeweler based on their overall good reviews (looking back I regret to not looking at…read morethe bad ones). One month after receiving my custom engagement ring, three of the six prongs snapped and my diamond fell out. The ring had to be completely remade due to a manufacturing defect, and what followed was poor communication, quality-control issues, and multiple trips back to the store. Kat, the person that many people praised in the reviews, no longer works there. Initially, everything seemed promising. Kat was great to work with and gave my Fiancé confidence in moving forward with a custom design. Just one month after our engagement, three prongs broke and my diamond fell out. Thankfully, we didn't lose the diamond. After inspecting the ring, Marlow admitted the prongs had likely been cut too deeply or lacked sufficient gold support and that the ring would need to be completely remade rather than repaired. We then went three weeks without any update and only learned the replacement was ready after I contacted the store myself. When we picked up what was supposed to be a brand-new ring, it already had visible scratches and was made to the wrong specifications. We had ordered a 2.5 mm band, but the replacement measured 2.92 mm. After few days, we returned again only to find fresh scratches that needed correcting while we waited. To their credit, they refunded the ring setting cost. However, that does not undo the experience. An engagement ring is one of the most meaningful purchases a person can make, and instead of enjoying our engagement, we spent weeks dealing with a failed ring, a complete remake, communication problems, and repeated quality-control mistakes. I genuinely would not wish this experience on any couple during what should be one of the happiest and most exciting times of their lives. I would strongly encourage anyone considering a custom engagement ring here to take your business elsewhere. You don't want to risk it and we learned it the hard way.

Apparently if there isn't enough money in it for them they just won't bother. This message sent by email (1st), phone call - where I waited on hold and then the line just went dead (2nd), and 3rd via the request page on their website. It has now been three weeks since the original request. I suppose there isn't much markup in a $400 tungsten carbide band, which you can buy online for about $20-30 for identical quality. When a jewellery maker friend of mine advised me that the best high quality jewellery you can buy…read morein Calgary is obviously Holt Renfrew and this one shop on 17th called Rubaiyat. Now I pass here all the time, never in my wildest dreams did I expect what I saw inside; we are talking first of all an incredibly large store that descends for eternity to the back and is just plain lovely!! My friend wasn't exaggerating, every showcase, every shelf; every glassed cabinet was chockfull of lovely designer jewellery in the most spectacular designs. Here they carry some of the same designers as they do in Holt Renfrew but for a lot cheaper prices. But it didn't stop at jewellery there were beautiful globes of blown glass, intricately carved chopping boards that I would have hung rather than use and then my favourite an ethnographic object showcase in the far back featuring ceremonial objects from around the world. Here you can find original African Masks, fertility symbols from many countries, Native American antique pieces and authentic temple Buddhas. These objects were definitely market prices, you can buy these pieces for 4 times more on EBay, and here they are quite reasonable in price. Some of them have documentation too, so you know what village or tribe you are buying that object from. The service is tremendous, the people here know their stuff, they understand the precious cargo they carry. They are extremely present in helping you to see a piece or two, in my case more than 10. I love this store, it is exquisite, some of the most unique items I have ever seen and jewellery with such spirit, you should check this store out.
