After waiting over 1 hour to speak to someone regarding my authorization I get transferred to a voice recording stating they will be closed for Juneteenth. It's April 1st . Clearly that was an old recording. It's very frustrating to be on hold for over one hour a d not be able to get a hold of anyone. Very disappointing and unacceptable. The Doctor is brilliant! After two knee replacements and months of superb physical therapy via OSS I had nothing but positive things to say until.... This last Monday I saw the doctor as my left knee is hurting, the doctor prescribes an ointment to apply a couple times a day and I am to follow up in 30!days. My issue here and reason for a negative review is with the doctors staff, some of them cannot or are not able to do their job. Since Monday afternoon I've been waiting for my prescription.... I called Wednesday, two days after my appointment and after 38 minutes on the phone I was told it'll be sent to my pharmacy by end of day. Today is Thursday and four days since I saw the doctor and I still don't have my prescription. No one there at oss can seem to send over my prescription to Walgreens. How hard is this task I ask? Apparently some of the doctors new staff are incapable of performing simple duties such as sending over a prescription in a timely manner. No other doctors office takes this long.... Normally any prescription is sent electronically by the end of that day or even within hours of you leaving their office. Why are the doctors staff at oss unable to complete a simple task? We have called the office now twice since my Monday appointment. It should not require even a call to ask him um did you send in my prescription? Each phone call it was a game of not my fault and we are busy and have lots of patients.... None of these excuses hold any weight! It's your job to follow through and make sure simple tasks as this are completed. Clearly some of the newer staff are in over their heads. The staff used to be so efficient, polite and professional, yet now today that has sadly changed. Again, the doctor is one of the best in his field yet some of his newer staff simply are not up for the jobs they now hold and should be replaced by those who are more on top of their game. I am so dissatisfied and disappointed by how such a simple task as sending in a prescription that was written Monday has yet to be sent electronically to my pharmacy. It's almost comical but I am not laughing. Lastly, there are no excuses for incompetence nor for ignorance and unwillingness to just do your job, I'm sure these newer employees could use a Starbucks or Alfred's coffee card to wake up and perform their daily tasks with more proficiency and pride which is lacking at the moment. If that does not solve the issue then maybe let them go and hire those who can and will do the job faithfully. Lastly, and a second complaint if you will. Two months ago I needed to reschedule a procedure. I called and left two messages with dr. Jeters (another incredible doctor there at OSS, like Dr Yacoubian, on top of their game and profession!) scheduler and have yet to get a return call to reschedule. After two months waiting I went elsewhere It must be so busy there that one must call more frequently or simply walk in and ask to speak with the scheduler or whoever in person. Far more labor intensive than it should be in all sincerity. Appreciate and admire the doctors there, love most the staff and all the physical therapists upstairs are dedicated and caring, yet these newer staff members really need a good taking to and just do your job please with no excuses or anything but just do your job do your job!:) read more

I called this doctor 3 times and waited on hold so long, I just left a message. Then, over a week later, they TEXTED me wanting me to text them my information. Why would I want to go to a doctor when their office staff NEVER answers their phone! Even when their recording says the call will be returned within 24 hrs, it took over a week to respond! And with a text?! If it takes this long to respond to my calls, I imagine scheduling will take forever. So I found another orthopedic surgeon. read more

Dr. Stephan Yacoubian performed a shoulder replacement procedure on me and it changed my life. After 2 years of pain management with sports doctors, limited range of movement and limited activities, I now can do all of the physical activities I use to do! Prior to my procedure, I could not do simple things like carry groceries or even hug my wife my two arms. Now I am even able to scuba dive and many other physical activities I have been unable to do in the past couple years. I can't thank Dr. Yacoubian enough for the quality of life he restored for me. Poor medical ethics and quick patient turnaround are his driving force. His instant diagnosis based on X-rays provided no cause of the issues and his recommendation for PT at their facility was his only solution. Absolute shit front office. When my daughter booked the appointment for suspected ACL tear they did not bother to tell her that she was not covered. She flew in from PA where she was temporarily staying for her appointment. Imagine flying with wheelchair and crutches. I even called 3 days before to check to see if we could do an MRI beforehand to speed up the process. They were rude but we got the MRI anyway. So after a lot of logistics had gone into getting to this appointment, imagine standing there being told you aren't covered. ISNT THAT THEIR JOB??????? After sitting in the car with my daughter crying we miraculously received the MRI report. Negative. By the grace of God she wouldn't need surgery nor would we have to ever deal with that office again. Good riddance. read more

Had my first surgery ever, a hip surgery. All I can say is good things it flowed like the way we should expect things to flow but they never ever do in businesses today. Aside from the AAA. Every one is so welcoming. The Doc has a good rep. Nice guy, casual easy going gave me confidence Every department functioned from my 1st meet to my last therapy. Awesome organization. i've been a registered nurse for over 35 years. I have been developing extreme knee pain since April was sleeping. I called to make an appointment at the orthopedic center and they saw me within two days. I saw Dr. Yocoubain's PA. He listen to what I had to say regarding my pain. He did x-rays of my knee explained in detail what he found. And he sending me for a bone scan.! The office was extremely professional, accommodating, and punctual! I have faith in putting my issues in their hands. I would recommend them to anyone!! read more

Dr. S. Yacoubian repaired my left rotator cuff in 2015. Feels good and works great again. He just repaired my right shoulder and again I am doing fine. The results speak for themselves. My son had a high school football injury on Friday. Dr. Stephan V. Yacoubian was at the game and tended to my son. We went to his office today and he was able to see him for further examination. He was able to give us a full analysis and guide us for what to do next. He was also able to remove fluid build-up and my son's knee is already feeling quite better. Worst Doctor Ever!!! I'm worse off than ever. I suffered for six months after surgery and I still hurt. He does nothing despite severe pain. I went to another surgeon who did a comprehensive MRI to point out what Dr. Stephan Yacoubian DIDN'T DO, THAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO! Never returned calls or did any type of studies to find out what he did wrong. Run, do not walk away for this man. I'm contemplating legal action so that he will not hurt anyone else. read more

To be clear, I have not had an issue with Dr. Yacoubian himself - despite seeing him for a year and getting no relief from a worsening condition. He has always been attentive, looks me in the eye, and appears to actually listen to what I'm telling him. My review is of his office staff, which so often is the worst part - and the largest part - of a customer's experience with medical providers. I have dealt with two women there who were very helpful and super clear, but every other person I've spoken with has been rude by loudly cutting me off while I'm speaking, they don't listen and are therefore unable to ascertain valuable information, and lack basic comprehension skills. I cannot possibly enumerate the myriad ways my healthcare has been bungled by this office. Every step of seemingly straightforward transactions has been screwed up by someone on the administrative staff - usually Missy. I was given a satisfaction survey after a procedure I had done last year and I returned it with a very extensive account of all the ways my treatment was mishandled. I never heard back from anyone. When I wrote to the email address on the website to ask where to file a complaint, the very same woman I wanted to complain about was the one who responded to say I should tell her. I had already told her how unhappy I was and got no response - around and around we go! Some examples: 1. Dr. Yacoubian requested an urgent authorization for an MRI. Despite my daily calls to check on the status of the authorization, it took a week for Missy to begin the process, which then took another 2 weeks to go through because she did not submit it as urgent, as requested. Every. Step. Of. Every. Interaction. Is. Like. This. 2. During my last visit, I was given the results and prognosis for an MRI that wasn't mine. They had to bring me back in to give me the correct results. 3. I just hung up with a woman in the office who talked over me most of the time, and when I asked who I should speak with when I call the office back, she shrieked, "DID YOU NOT HEAR WHAT I JUST SAID??!!" Who speaks like this to medical patients? Who allows their staff to speak this way? A part of me tries not to get angry with the staff because I think it partly isn't their fault. They were hired for these positions by people who want to save money. It's the only reason I can think of to allow people who deal with an ailing population to be so incompetent, and so incapable of critical thinking and genuine care. read more

I have been a patient for 12 years now, and the first time I met him and everyone at OSS Burbank everyone was very friendly. Dr Yacoubian and everyone there really cares about their patients. He gives give excellent care and really makes sure you get the treatment that's right for you. Successful surgery, but unnecessary delay and 2nd MRI. I expected Dr. Yacoubian to look at my MRI images, but he did not. Instead, he just read the report (from a random radiologist that neither he nor I selected--that's just how MRI reports work) and accepted it as fact. Your care here is dependent upon the quality of the radiologist who reads your MRI. I got a bad radiologist! Dr. Yacoubian repaired my ACL, but I had to get 2 MRIs before it happened. And if I didn't have a brother-in-law radiologist, who insisted on being a second set of eyes, I would still be walking around without an ACL. He did a good job on the surgery on my knee, but my surgery was delayed 3 weeks because he was either unqualified or unwilling to look at the MRI himself, and I incurred additional cost. When I came to him and said "My brother in law says I don't have an ACL", he sent me for another MRI. Luckily, the next guy read my MRI right. Looking back on this, I could have been more forceful, and said to Dr. Yacoubian "Please look at my first MRI and tell me what *you* think," but nobody wants to create an antagonistic relationship with someone who's going to cut you up. At the time, I was on an HMO, and had no choice in surgeons. Prior to Dr. Yacoubian, my experience with orthopedic surgeons is that they look at MRI images and form their own opinions. Maybe the docs at OSS Burbank are simply too busy to do it. My appointments there felt pretty rushed, so that adds up. read more

After a fall that also injured my suffered from shoulder pain for two years. I was finally seen by Dr. Yacoubian who has literally brought me back to my old self! His demeanor is very calm, but do not be deterred or think he doesn't "care". He knows what he is doing, and if it is not 100% visible on the x-ray or MRI, he will discover the complete answer arthroscopically! If you're looking for bedside manner, or a doctor who takes his time with his patients, this is not the doctor for you. Plus, you have to pay 200 dollars up front, just to be seen. Dr. Yacoubian decided my shoulder pain was caused by a bone spur he said he saw on the x-ray. He just started preparing the cortisone injection and wasn't even going to show me the x-ray until I asked to see it. If I have a bone spur, I've had it for years and it's never hurt before. I had recently had my arm pulled really hard and only after that did it start hurting. But he seemed to disregard that. Then he seemed affronted that I dared to ask to see the x-ray. Really? You take an x-ray, make a diagnosis then don't even show your patient? So, he showed it to me, then continued preparing the cortisone injection. He said, I could get an injection or do physical therapy. I sat there waiting for an opinion as to what to do, since he is supposed to be the expert. Finally, I had to ask him what he thought. He said a cortisone injection and physical therapy would probably help. He was wrong about the injection, because my arm still hurt, and the physical therapy made little to no difference at all. What helped was resting my arm. I very rarely write negative reviews, but maybe it will help future patients if he sees what this patient thinks of his bedside manner -- if he even takes the time to read these reviews. My knee issue persists, so I went back for the follow up (yeah yeah yeah, I said I wasn't going back but I always give people a second chance) and I realized that him coming across as bored is just his demeanor; he's very deadpan. There seems to be some negative reviews which could be misleading to everyone looking for a good surgeon. For those in pain, it is a critical need to find the right doctor who can fix your problem and hopefully do so in a way where you won't need repeat fixes down the road. The main complaint is the waiting room wait? That's really the reason you're going to bash one of the best surgeons, and probably a good choice for more people looking for truthful reviews. I have seen what they are talking about. I also know that every time I was 15 mins early to my appointment (by that I mean actually in the office 15 mins prior, not parking my car) I was first in the queue for my time schedule and I flew through the doctors office out before my appointment was even scheduled to begin. I did this every time and without fail I was through very quickly. One time i was 5 mins after the appointment schedule, for this I waited 30 mins until I was called. Now this is just my experience, but I think it can be apparent to most people who have gone to doctors for appointments, if you chose to be a little bit early, you are going to get through quick. Those worrying about time, about how long it is going to take, are usually the ones arriving 5 mins after and saying it is on time. Make your appointment for the 8am time slot lazy heads, I guarantee you'll fly through there. That being said, my experience with the surgeon and fixing my problems has been excellent. I have had the same surgery 2 times previous, once 5 years ago and another 5 years before that. I can say that this repair feels stronger and I have returned to normal use quicker than either surgery I had before. I was dislocating my shoulder frequently and had torn the labrum across the front of my shoulder. My current experience has been excellent with them and I would highly recommend them for shoulder problems. read more

If you have decent insurance, why go here? They double and triple book appointments and unless you're the first one through the door, you will be waiting. And waiting. The outer office looks like a cattle car. I did have a problem with one receptionist who seemed bemused when I complained about the wait but the last time I was there they seemed great and were good with follow through. My primary doctor referred Dr Yacoubian and for an entire week I have been trying to take an appointment with him with no success. Initial phone call got me an irritated secretary Lisa that sounded annoyed by the fact that i needed an appointment. Mentioned something about computers being down and asked me to call later. This went on for 2 more tries, and all i got was being put on eternal hold. Have to get another doctor by now, I give up. Either they are incompetent or dont need the business. read more

Do not go to this doctor or the office if you value your time. They are always backed up unless you're the first appointment of the day, and even then the doctors are not there on time. Make sure you've got a full charge on your phone when you go in because you'll be playing a lot of games by the time your called. My wife went in with neck and back pain, and the doctor prescribed an MRI, but it was only for her back. When she noticed the the error on the prescription and called in to have it corrected, they said they had no record of her ever mentioning neck pain and made her go in again for an office visit so they could change it to have the MRI on both. read more

I needed surgery to repair issues with my shoulder (some arthritis and some rotator cuff damage). I'm over 70, but fit and active, and Dr. Yacoubian took a very conservative approach, starting with PT to see if my pain and discomfort could be improved or eliminated without surgery. Once it became apparent that surgery was the only option, we moved forward with that, and the process was smooth and extremely well organized. My outcome could not have been better. Within a few weeks I was almost totally pain free, and now, 3 months later, I am completely healed with no pain except for lifting heavy things away from my body with the affected arm only. I'm confident that a little more time and strength rebuilding will eliminate even that. I'm 99% back to my old, pre-shoulder problem self, and I could not be happier with Dr. Yacoubian and his practice. Highly recommended. read more

I'm updating this review... I don't know if my shoulder is 100% but it's close enough.... I was tempted to give five stars (and I'll tell you why in a second) but the bottom line is that my shoulder is only marginally better... BUT, it's only been two or three months since the arthroscopic shoulder surgery so when and if it gets 100% I will up it to a five. But I wanted to address some of the aspects of some of the other reviews. I totally understand the frustrations of dealing with doctor's offices... front office people that are short, surgery schedulers, doctors that are late to appointments... but (with one small exception), have found none of that here. As a matter of fact, the exact opposite. Life is too short to spend it waiting for doctors who don't have their shit together. I have left several different orthopedists (at other practices) for just that reason... hours spent waiting for doctors even when you are the first appointment of the day. I have never waited more than 15 minutes for either Dr. Yacoubian or Dr. Raven and the average wait (over at least 10 visits now) has been about 5-7 minutes. Also, I have had only great experiences with Lisa and she has actually cut through some of the inter office communication issues and got results pretty damn quickly. read more

This is based on a horrible Asian woman who answered the phone when I tried to make an appointment she was so rude and condescending and just horrific, I would never see this doctor based on that. In addition when I called to speak to the office manager to put in a complaint, she was just as bad. Never did she apologize or try to see what happened. I have had the best doctors in the world in New York, and also some amazing ones in Los Angeles. I always think of staff as a reflection of the medical care you'll receive, go elsewhere. I urge you. My cardiologist referred me to see Dr Yacoubian as he was back playing golf after his knee surgery done by Dr Y. I always ask other doctors who they go to as this is the best referral source I know of. Better than online reviews! I had an ACL reconstruction done and a meniscus repair. He is an experienced surgeon and a great guy. He explained everything to me very clearly and so far I'm doing very well No pain and getting stronger daily. - HIP REPLACEMENT IS THE TOPIC I have to first inform you that I have not been approached to write this review, I am doing this because Dr. Stephan Yacoubian has truly saved me from a lot pain which I endured for a period of two years. Let me tell you first that hip replacement surgery sound pretty disturbing for a candidate but really is NOT. I am going to be posting video of me walking the day after the surgery upon being discharged without any kind of a limp and playing golf and riding a 650 lb touring motorcycle 3 months after the surgery, once I figure out how to down load the video clip LOL. I heart these doctors. After a run in with a very bad doctor at SCOI I stumbled onto Dr. Yacoubian. The staff in the office are very nice, great about getting you in and out quickly, and very helpful. Dr. Stephen performed arthoscopic surgery on my knee and I have no complaints. He was informative, both realistic and optomistic about my recovery and status. Most importantly, he listened to me as a person, and the needs of my lifestlye as opposed to just getting me in and out of his office to make some dough. I never felt like I was in bad hands and was happy when they remembered who I was without having to look at a chart. It's also worth noting how Dr. Stephan worked with the other doctors in the practice. They seem to have a very open collaboration with each other in the way things should be handled, they bounced ideas off of each other a lot about patients and diagnosis. I have been a patient of Dr, Yacoubian's for close to 7-8 years. He replaced both of my knees with great success and is now treating me for shoulder issues. At NO time during this entire time has he or his office ever pressured me to have surgery. He has always answered my questions fully. His office staff is great! The office has ALWAYS been very responsive to my appointment needs. Granted, Mondays are usually a crazy time to book appointments and I sometimes have to wait on the phone for, at most, a couple of minutes on other days. But I have also called in severe pain just before noon and gotten in by 1:30pm that same day. That's a caring front office staff who book the appointments. read more

I found Dr. Yacoubian thru my husband. We actually piggybacked our knee appointments and met with him at the same time. He was informative and took his time. After getting my MRI, he recommended I get Synvisc injections. I had already done some research and knew what they were and was ready to go. However, Dr. Yacoubian said we'd have to have approval from my insurance first. Otherwise, if he starts the first of three injections and the insurance doesn't cover them, it comes out of my pocket, cash. Approx. $900!!! Needless to say , I was bummed but appreciative because he was looking out for me. Another challenge we had was that I would have to visit the office three consecutive weeks and I couldn't take the time off of work. Dr. Yacoubian offered to come in early those days for me so I could get the injections on my way in. The insurance approved the procedure the next week and I had my last injection today. Keeping my fingers crossed that it works so I can get them on my left knee too. If there is a downside to Dr. Yacoubian's office, it's one of the girls at the front. They are so busy and you can tell. She was short with me and wouldn't make eye contact. There was one girl in the morning that I ran into twice that was really nice. Regardless, it's not enough to take his overall rating down from a 5. :-) read more

They took xrays on spot, but wouldn't let me see the xrays nor would they let me have them so there was no way of verifying what they said. Dr. Yaucobian found out I'd had a previous knee surgery, and when he found out the surgeon wasn't from OSS, immediately scoffed and told me the reason why I was having knee pain was because the surgery was most likely botched by someone who wasn't an expert, told me I'd probably need another surgery, ordered an Arthrogram of my knee (which is an invasive MRI), but wouldn't explain why I needed an invasive arthrogram instead of a regular, noninvasive MRI. I thought that as a doctor, he spent very little time with me, he didn't explain himself or any of the procedures he recommended, and he was really rude and tight-lipped when I tried to ask questions. I definitely do not recommend him or this practice. read more
