Staff was nice to us but there was some confusion about our drink orders (we ordered the pizza party package online, I assumed it was a pitcher of soda, I'm still not sure what it was supposed to be but we ended up getting drink vouchers for small fountain sodas which was fine). First of all when we walked in the man at the desk did not have a customer service appropriate behaviour. He did not greet the customers kindly and instead offered a snide remark to my mother. Not only this, lane five did not work. There were constant technical issues that cut into our bowling time which we were not reimbursed for. 1. On arrival, lanes 13/14 were allocated for us, but close to 3pm, I was told there was a defect with these lanes and was swapped to lanes 21/22. These lakes were not cleared on time and guests had to wait for another 10 minutes for clearance of clutter/garbage etc. No apology from staff. 2. Requested for a dedicated host to look after all aspects of the party and provide the kids with a 2-3 minute session on how to use the lanes and play safely, the staff member behind the counter politely agreed that this can be done, but did not show up to conduct this session. No apology from staff. 3. One staff member (General Manager) directly started threatening the boys to not bowl 2 balls at the same time on the single lane, when two parents (me and my wife) were present within the two lanes in question (21/22). This individual threatened to shut down the lanes regardless of the remaining time. This is unacceptable behaviour from an adult and should have never spoken to the son's guests who were all minors. We are the hosts of this party and we were present. Anything related to the party, conduct, rules and regulations needs to be brought to our attention and NOT TO SPEAK TO THE CHILDREN/MINORS directly AT ALL! All of the kids were disturbed by the action of this individual which created an unpleasant situation for all of us to deal with also, with these kids' parents. They are supposed to bring any concerns regards to rules/regulations/fees to the parents on site and we were there all the time. No apology from staff. 4. Service was extremely poor/slow - There were 12 children, but only 10 plates were provided. There were no food-handling gloves, and thongs were provided to serve pizza slices. No cutlery was provided through email communication was provided to me stating 'Plates and forks for pizza and cake are provided to you.' No apology from staff. 5. When I went to speak to the staff member behind the counter about the incident mentioned above (#3), the GM in question showed up and provided no apology for the incident and continued to display unprofessional/dismissive body language and words regards to his actions from earlier. No apology from staff. When reported this incident to the Management team, they acknowledged that they plan to make some changes, but I doubt it as this seems to be an incident which has occurred many times before. They only offered 1 hour of complimentary bowling to my family, which I politely declined as I have no intentions of visiting this establishment ever again and facing the toxic management team who runs this operation so poorly. read more

Nice little local bowling alley in Newmarket. Wanted to go bowling with my sister and nephew and close by them is Stellar Lanes. We went on Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with a bowling tournament, and a couple of kids birthday party groups. and a league just finishing up their games. The staff were very helpful and polite and said they had no room, Did we have a reservation? Reservation for bowling - seriously ? No we didn't make a reservation.....he mentioned if we waited 10 minutes the people that have two lanes reserved might not need both lanes. 10 minutes later, our luck would have it - we got to bowl. Paid $38.00 for three people and two sets of shoes - My sister had her own bowling shoes ! We played two games and had a blast. Nothing fancy here, no laser lights, no disco balls, no music, just plain old fashion bowling with all the noises of a bowling alley and it was fun ! All three of us had a great time. There is a snack bar and we had a hot dog and french fries which took about 25 minutes to finally get, but it was good - freshly made on both items and was nice. read more

The facility itself is nice, the issue is with the rude staff. Came to bowl with the family early on a weekend we were the first ones there. We picked a lane to bowl the staff working was extremely rude stating we cannot just sit where we want and unfriendly throughout our visit. It appeared they did not want customers to be there. I will not be recommending this place to any friends or family and will definitely not be returning. read more

Terribly rude staff, my girlfriend and I came here to enjoy an hour of bowling and we heard they were connected to a disability program, which my girlfriend is autistic. We assumed they would have accommodations but did not at all. They made us pay before telling us to take our waters to the car, and we could buy their water instead. My girlfriend has sensory issues and can only drink specific brands of water which they did not have. They also offered to take our water and put it in the back, CREEPY! After we had brought up we were just going to leave without playing they told us it was impossible to get a refund. Was recently here for a staff function. We had a large group of people, and we were well taken care of. Bowling is always fun regardless of your age. We were served pizzas, some of which were accommodated towards vegetarians in our group, as well as chicken wings, mozzarella cheese sticks, deep fried jalapeños and mushrooms, and a classic veggie platter. I was not a fan of the pizza, but that's personal (I'm picky when it comes to pizza) and not reflective of their cooking. The staff that I spoke with we're very nice and helpful. They frequently checked on people who were eating to see how he food was, and we're diligent in coming around to collect empty platters, bottles, etc. I have been here once before and at that time, it was also an enjoyable experience. I would recommend this place for staff functions, friendly get together, birthday parties, or just a family night out. Great place, great service. read more

Went straight from hubby's work and it was dead quiet. It was only 4:45PM, but we didn't want the crowd. For twenty minutes or so, we had the place all to ourselves, plus the nice working people there. Their debit machine was not working so we had to withdraw money from the ATM machine. For an hour, two rental shoes, and a fun glow in the dark 5-pin bowling, we paid $38.00. The shoes were clean and that's all I care about. I didn't try any of the good because it was dark, no one seemed to be working at the time, and I wanted to make use of the hour for pure bowling. The lanes were good length ones. Everything worked, from the score board to the pins resets. Yes, the computers were tad old but these added the classic charm of a family owned business. (I think). The men's bathroom, as per hubby's description, was "fine, not prestigious." Upon wife's further analysis of his depiction, I would wager that it's old looking but clean. Again, all that matters, right? In all the place is a Stellar place for bowling, right on a road named Stellar. It's older looking throughout the place but everything works. read more

If your only going for bowling I would say it's a nice place and fairly clean. ..Extremely unfriendly staff . Booked a party there for 22 kids. Pizza is frozen and cooked and placed in a box . Takes 8 mins they told me and still couldn't get it out on time. They make a huge deal that you have to have it mid way between your bowling party time. After they finally agree to bring it at the time you want ...it comes 45 mins late anyways ... Would not allow us to use the empty party area which is open to the lanes ( even though it was empty ) It's nice there's a bar for parents to have a drink while they bowl or wait for there kids , this is the only plus in my opinion. Whatever you do don't ask for water. .. it's not included. Our party spent $750 in 2 hrs at stellar lanes and when we asked for water for the kids we were told it's not included in your package you get one soft drink , they are trying to push there water bottles for purchase which is not acceptable in a party atmosphere where you prepay before they give you anything but there attitude. !! The bowling is fine. No issues. This was my experience. Showed up with a lady and two small kids in tow. Asked about the cost to bowl. I was told I could buy an hour and if I wanted to play longer I could add more time later. The place was not busy. I paid for one hour. The hour and one half rate is less than the hour rate + the half hour rate. As expected the kids wanted to play more. I went to the cashier before our first hour was up and asked to pay the hour and one half rate. I was told unfortunately for you you must now buy the half hour rate. Not wanting to make a scene I paid it. Dec 30, 2016 STELLAR LANES 48.93 (includes four pair of shoes) Dec 30, 2016 STELLAR LANES 22.55 So I paid $71.48 to bowl on one lane for an hour and one half including renting 4 pair of shoes. Had I been given the one and one half hour rate I would have paid less. When I made this point later that day to the manager he agreed that I overpaid but he did not offer any compensation. He mentioned he would let his employee know that he made a mistake but he did not offer to make it right. Why do I have to ask the manager to pay me back what I am owed? Why doesn't he just offer it? He admitted the kid overcharged me. Frustrating. I was more disappointed with the management response to my situation than the fact that the kid overcharged me in the first place. My advice, don't pay until you are finished bowling. If they insist you pay before you bowl, walk away. read more

Stellar Lanes threw a gutter ball on customer service today! What should have been a fun, carefree birthday party for my daughter, turned into a miserable experience. At booking, they didn't tell me about a five child minimum and then demanded that I pay for five kids, when only three showed up. They also chose to discuss this issue with me in the middle of the party, disrupting everything. When I refused, they threatened to call the police. Not a "stellar" way to treat a customer. Think twice about booking your next birthday party here, unless you want to spend a night in the slammer. read more

Birthday party buyer beware. It seems super professional and organized when you sign up. Even more so than your average. We have done lots of these parties over the years and was initially impressed. Pros: Alley seemed clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly and as accommodating within their rules. Cons: 1) No assigned party point person for issues of which there were many. 2) Cheap on the plates and cutlery. We even ordered extra food for them. We kept having to ask for more because we had some adults helping because they offered no one to serve the food! They told us no seating for adults in the beginning. That should have been a red flag. Lots of chairs stacked and plenty of space. Would it have killed them to put some extra down? 3) Drinks for during bowling. We wanted to order some juice and some pitchers of water. Were told they don't give out pitchers of water. So we paid for juice. And then after paid told we could have water instead. So basically charging us for tap water when I am already paying over $300 for a party. Tacky. It was supposedly because of the cups?! She did suggest giving me everyone's drinks early but that would have been chaos during the bowling as we had just finished taking individual orders. 4) One kid didn't even get to finish their last frame. This resulted in copious tears. They killed the game at exactly the time to move to the party room. I get schedules but it would it have killed them to let it slide for one more minute? It's not like the place was full or people were waiting for the lane. 5) Told there was no lighter for the cake provided. Come on! So we had to scramble to find one. We were lucky. Then they come out with a bbq lighter. This should be standard. No one to help with the cake. Hmm. Oh and you have to bring your own knife and lifter. They told me this in advance but it's a bit odd. 6) Not told it was glow in dark when we booked. Ok. I guess if I had looked and correctly deciphered website which is unclear. Pm/am problem. I would have gleaned that. But my kid has sensory issues and was not too impressed about it. 7)No good way to handle late add kids. They did it as an "exception" but was told normally I would have to pay for everything separately. I get it. But no one else rsvps properly these days. And it is a big problem. At least we didn't have any unexpected drop offs. It could have gotten costly. Also, Too long in party room. Kids ate and were bored 20 mins later. Need to think of party room activities if you book here because no one is gonna help you fill the time. 3 stars for well meaning staff and ok pizza. But yikes on the management. read more

I had a very poor experience with a birthday party I organized for my son and his friends. We had twelve people bowling and one lane went down for over 15 minutes in our 1 hour bowl. When I talked to the individual in charge she checked the time that the lane was down and agreed it was an excess of 15 minutes. We had paid for 1 hour of bowling and she would not compensate or apologize for our experience. When I asked for the manager the manager was rude, abrupt and said "you get what you get for an hour" I would not recommend going here I would opt to drive anywhere rather than going back. read more
