Things here are quite expensive, but on par for the designers offered: Nanette Lepore, Theory, Juicy, Rebecca Beeson, etc. (not full lines, but selections from each). Most everything is so pretty, but what is on sale, well, you can tell why they had to put it on sale. A few times, I've found some cool things, like a green Juicy long-sleeve tee that I loved but wore so much it developed holes in it. Note to self: stop being so lazy and hand-wash things that are supposed to be hand-washed. I was happy to see that they added a shoe section. Much needed. Only they charge a lot of money for supposedly "upscale" brands that I've never even heard of. I bought a pair of shoes suspiciously on sale from $120 to $50. I say "suspiciously" because designer shoes don't ever go on that kind of sale. They were supposedly good quality leather, but cut up my feet so badly, I think they were something else. Maybe they included some leather amongst the plastic. However, Precision also carries really great lines like Faryl Robin. So it's just hit-or-miss. In my case, I should have used better judgment, and no, doing three to four laps around the store in them does not even begin to reflect how they will perform on the street. A big gripe: the only Hanky Panky underbeneaths they carry are the low-rise ones. I suppose they are suited well for some very thin women, and that's fine. But I would have appreciated having the option.

They have some really cute stuff and the staff is actually really good a putting you in stuff that you wouldn't have tried before but that looks great on you. However, they tell you that EVERYTHING looks great on you and then start playing the "are you going to get it" game. Since I'm easily swayed by compliments ("really, I look skinny in this, I'll take it in every color"), I would end up buying things that I would instantly regret. Since I have no will power, I just stopped coming in for a while. Le sigh. There was a really cute dress in the window this weekend, so I broke my self imposed moratorium and went back in. There were a couple of interesting changes: (1) no more shoe section, just a few shoe choices now; (2) no more theory or other really expensive lines (the economy hits us hard); (3) the former shoe section is now the cheap clothes/sample sale section (I'm not sure that this is about, the clothes are never well made, usually are made out of polyester and they never have any sizes); (4) the sales people are just the same (I was greeted with - "hey, long time no see, you have to come in more so I can keep my job." Ummm, okay). So I bought the really cute dress, resisted buying another cute dress and the super cool belt that they put with the dress I ended up buying. I probably won't come back as a regular, my wallet can't really handle it. But it was a fun trip down memory lane and I now have a super cute spring dress (if spring ever arrives).

Unfortunately, I didn't realise until after ordering that their refund policy only applies to US customers. When the dress arrived, it looked nothing like I expected and was a terrible fit. As with any online clothing purchase, you can't try it on before buying, so I requested a return for a refund. My request was refused simply because I live in Australia. What is even more disappointing is that I have since sent three separate emails through both their customer service email address and online enquiry form asking them to reconsider this policy. I have not received a single response. For a premium-priced clothing brand, this level of customer service is unacceptable. I genuinely don't understand how a fashion retailer expects international customers to shop with confidence when there is no option to return unsuitable items. I will never purchase from this brand again and strongly recommend that anyone outside the US thinks twice before ordering directly from them. The clothing is expensive for what it is, and the complete lack of customer care has been incredibly disappointing. There are plenty of other brands that value their international customers--shop with them instead.

It's been this way for years, and it's gotten worse. Occasionally someone will smile or at least not scowl, and stop talking about skincare and social plans for long enough to help a customer, but mostly it's borderline hostile from the moment they unlock the door and deign to let you into their precious store. Particularly egregious is the older woman with long red hair. Time and again, she's shockingly rude. In the immortal words of Edina Monsoon: "You only work in a shop you know. You can drop the attitude."

Period. Despite the brand being carried in countless retailers for over a decade, this is it and worth a visit for the "Fade Wall", dressing rooms (4) and flooring alone. You'll have to trust me here....  The center of the store is like a Lazy Susan complete with their latest/greatest on display. It really provides you the opportunity to not only see what's new but feel. In some cases, smell - Scratch n' Sniff baby! It can be overwhelming as no two pairs are alike so take your time. Having been a long time N&F customer, this was the first opportunity I'd ever had to try on such a huge selection of denim styles and fits without dealing with returns. Furthermore, I could check out the much slept-on shirting, hoodies and t-shirts I hadn't seen at other retailers. Strongly encouraged IMO.  Sales Associate Shane was patient and clearly knowledgeable. I could not be more appreciative for his time. He answered ALL my questions and BS'd while juggling hemming and other customers. Give the man a raise!  While I ended up having to order online due to being sold out (sizing), I could not have made the best purchase without Shane's guidance and recommendations. Much appreciated. I look forward to returning trips and hopefully grabbing a pair of their NYC store exclusive when the restock drops.

But the bathing suit I tried on had a security tag with an exposed metal wire that attacked my arm. And then also an exposed / open safety pin that thankfully I avoided. Again, the girls were really nice (provided a wet paper towel and neosporin - no bandaids though) and apologetic but good service is not worth a potentially permanent 5in+ long scar.

In the winter, I updated my boring bra collection with the most beautiful, perfect pieces from Azaleas (a five star experience that I previously reviewed). This summer, I got a whole new bathing suit wardrobe - picked up nearly every Hunza G style they had in stock, a couple vitamina bikinis, and that amazing Haight red one piece. I love the selection and they made shopping convenient throughout the last few months. Free shipping and then I utilized the in-store pick ups from the coffee shop next door. Now that the shop reopened, I purchased even more bathing suits (whoops!) and Carly could not have been more patient with me as I tried on approximately 100 different suits (thank you!). A wide range of styles and price points but I also trust Cindy to pick really high quality, well-made pieces which makes it easier to justify paying more for the quality. The customer service I have received here is unparalleled and I feel so grateful to have Azaleas as a neighbor in the East Village. One quick warning: the shop may look small but you can spend a lot of time inside!
