This was my first visit to Grandpa's Cheese Barn after passing it for many years. It is a cross…read morebetween a roadside attraction and a gourmet cheese shop. They have an abundance of parking and every kind of cheese you can imagine. I appreciate that they had staff cutting and handing you samples instead of samples sitting out. There were plenty of staff to answer any question you may have and you could request a sample of any cheese. They actually encouraged you to try the cheese. We walked out of the cheese barn with a bag full of goodies and stroll across the courtyard to the candy shop. I was told Sweeties was a new addition. They had so many options it was overwhelming. The two stores could multiple charcuterie boards. We ended up with a bag full of sweets also. The courtyard was very cute and welcoming. As we were leaving an Amish man arrived in his horse drawn carriage to sell homemade baskets. It was nice to see a larger business supporting a small business. I would not hesitate to stop on my next trip.

The renovations are phenomenal, and we loved the indoor/outdoor dining and play area. Our active 2-year-old didn't want to leave the mini play barn, which gave the adults time to enjoy the delicious food and treats. Every employee was welcoming & friendly- the entire experience was Gouda-Fun . We'll definitely be back & often! Dick and Vera would be proud to see all the WONDERFUL additions to their barn!

By trying some of them, we found a couple of cheeses that we took home. So delicious... you really can't go wrong with many, even with the weird flavors. They even had cream cheeses that you can try with preztels. Lastly, you can watch them make the cheese. Such a great experience and definitely worth the stop.

Everything like traditional cheddar and swiss to more unique options like veggie, and buffalo wing. Most of the cheese had samples. It was a perfect way to get a sense of the differences between some of the varieties (standard vs smoked vs aged for example). Most cheese could be purchased in blocks, slices and cubes. They also had some beef stick options, dips and cheese fudge. I had never heard of cheese fudge before so was very intrigued. It had a different texture and flavor than traditional fudge but was definitely worth trying. They also have traditional fudge on the other side of the store. There were workers behind the counter actively packing cheese and willing to answer any questions you might have. Much like other tourist attractions, you have to walk through the gift shop to get to the cash registers. The line was kind of long, but it moved fairly quickly. This was a great stop with a lot of tasty products. Definitely recommend a visit!

My friends really wanted to visit the Guggisberg cheese factory but they were closed for the day. This store offers not only cheese but other smaller grocery and household items such as butter, apple butter, mugs, t-shirts, etc. I don't like cheese so I didn't buy any cheese. My friends may have bought small cheese blocks but I can't remember. They did sample some cheese which they liked. MY PURCHASES -- I bought an Italian bread dipping mix which is a small tin of herbs. I finally tried the dip in April 2026 by adding olive oil the dipping bread in it. The spice mix is too strong so I don't like it that much and I don't believe it was made locally. I also bought Apple butter which is locally made and tastes good. The Apple butter is too sweet for me though so I've hardly eaten it but it goes well with toast. If you're in the area, stop by this local store. The back of the store is cute because of a little fountain and a well-kept lawn. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 87/250 total reviews in 2026 - 928 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 19 May 2026

Part deli, part gift shop, part factory. This cheese shop's…read moreclaim to fame is is that they are the creators of baby swiss. They are apparently now one of the largest manufacturers of swiss cheese in the US. When you enter, there is a shop which is a combination of gift shop, cheese accessories and grocery items. There is signage that shows off their awards, talks about some of their history and also takes about the difference between regular and baby swiss. The deli where you can get freshly sliced cheese is in the back. The clerks were extremely friendly answering questions and providing samples of anything you want to try. Much like the outside, the inside continues the swiss theme. The reason I gave it four instead of five stars is the space itself. It was really congested even though it wasn't really all that crowded. I can't imagine what it would be like on a busier day. J don't know what, if anything can be done about this that, but it definitely can be hard yo navigate if you have mobility issues or don't like crowds. Oh and the cheese hats are a fun nice touch.

Never order online! I placed a surprise birthday order for my brother on July 9 for his birthday…read more When he didn't acknowledge it, I called Heini's to check on the order after verifying that payment had gone through on the 9th. No-one answered during their stated business hours so I left voicemail. After not getting a return call, I called again. The woman I spoke with looked it up, verified that payment had been received, and said it showed in their Paypal receipts but didn't go through to their website ... She took the order and said she would personally walk it through and it would be shipped out Monday. After still no acknowledgment by my brother by Thursday, I called to find out when it had been shipped but had to call numerous times before someone answered. I was told the order was canceled. When I responded that I had not canceled it, the response was "Didn't she call you?" One of the items wasn't available and she was supposed to ask whether a substitution was acceptable but apparently just canceled the order instead without notifying me. The woman I was speaking with said she would get it sent out but I told her I wanted a refund since it had now been 11 days and the order still hadn't been sent. The good news? I ordered from a competitor Amish cheese company and got more for $25 less!
