Grapefruit peel and Amarillo hops included in the Grapefruit IPA kit

The greatest thing about Stein Fillers is their knowledge base. Their ingredients are high quality. Plus, you'll want to join the Long Beach Homebrewers. The annual dues is $25 and you get a 5% discount on all Stein Fillers purchases, which pays for itself if you're an avid brewer. There are monthly meetings where Homebrewers get together and share each other's brews. I'm a total n00b, 8 days into my first brew (Grapefruit IPA; ingredient kit is from Stein Fillers) and I ask them a ton of questions that they are more than happy to answer.

I believe that these guys have been in business for quite some time. I'm not sure how.... These guys are strait up pricks... Yes they have plenty of grain, hops, yeast. Prices are just okay. As read in other reviews, customer service is atrocious. Seemed like I was inconveniencing them buy spending my hard earned in their store. The owned seemed as if he checked out and stopped giving a crap years ago. The helper, some dude with a 90's looking goat-tee, seemed as if he was actually going out of his way to be unpleasant. Sorry that you had to get up out of your chair and weigh some grains for me bro, but that's you job. Both times I asked for assistance they gave me a general "it's over there somewhere, find it yourseld" answer. I will not only NEVER shop here again, I will tell every homebrewer I know to shop at addisons where they are cool and friendly. If I could give you negative stars I would. I may however, give you the finger next time I drive by on the way to my friends house! Namaste bitches...

Brew kits

My BF and I have been a roll growing vegetables, fruit, composting, so why not home brewing our own beer! The store has everything you will need if you're a first time brewer or experienced. They will give their honest advice without trying to sell you more. They have kits in a box with a description of the beer. Once you buy the basic supplies, the only things you'll need is another kit and new bottle caps, so the cost of home brewing comes down to $30 for 48 12oz bottles. They also sell cold bottles of cola, root beer, and sarsaparilla for the kiddos or non-drinkers.

I have to be honest. Contrary to some other reviews. I wasn't sure what to expect. I started going in about a year ago and at first I did notice the two guys there were a bit on the quiet side. Seems to me they kinda let you do your own thing. They will always ask if you need help. In my case I'm always looking for ideas based on what I see. When I have questions they seem to be open to helping without being mean or sounding snobby. I live in whittier which might very well be between Adisson and Stein Fillers. I will keep going here as long as they keep making good beer kits. Reasons to go to Stein Fillers? -Already made Beer Kits -List of Kits made for you with in minutes -Beer Kits are good price *Adisson Home Brew will make a beer kit for you but will cost around $40+ (quoted) Everyone is a noob at some point, just keep brewing!

The kit I am using comes with bottles but they are those "PET" plastic bottles, similar in quality to a 2-Liter, soda bottle.

SPACE Lots of room for tables so it doesn't feel cramped. And lots of tables to boot. PRICING they carry a lot of singles. And thier prices are very fair. This store is a win/win.

Their IG post stated it started at 11am, so the person on the phone told me to come an hour early for sign ups, which would be 10am. So the day came when the tournament started. Got there at 9:50am to make sure I get a spot since it was first come first serve, and the place was closed and no one was there. Waited until 10:20 and nothing. I was the only one there. Checked on google for store hours and they said they open at 12pm every day. So I'm confused why I was told to come at 10. If the event starts at 11. But store opens at 12. This definitely put a bad taste on my first experience and if I wanted to support this LCS.

The instructor was friendly and informative, teaching us the step by step process to fermenting tea to get kombucha. He was really patient with all our questions and encouraged us to experiment with different flavors, even providing a Scoby to kickstart our home brewing! There were four flavors being sampled, and my favorite was definitely the Yuzu - crisp and refreshing, with the perfect level of carbonation. I also really enjoyed the Bloom flavor, which was infused with blueberries. He mentioned that they have limited edition flavors, which they switch out from time to time. They are available at local farmers markets and have a brewing room in Huntington Beach you can visit. Overall, great kombucha and I want to give a special shout-out to the excellent customer service provided by the instructor.

I also ordered the pistachio croissant, Altar Society breakfast burrito and a couple pup cups for my boys. Burrito 10/10 definitely would be back to try their other burritos and they are decently sized as well. The vibe is cool I've been before but if you haven't it's an old masonic temple I believe. Original wood flooring, kept a lot of the old character of the building which I personally appreciate with every other business making everything new and flashy. Service was friendly could have been a little quicker but not terrible. Would I be back.. Yes, and not just for beer and pizza I'll come back to the coffee shop, nice and peaceful mornings, quiet, good food and drinks and the pups enjoyed their items as well.

My other friend was told they didn't have the exact glass and it took a while for them to bring out the beer. We had three kids with us and the kids food took forever and the portions were small. Refills on sodas took a while. They were overloaded with ice. As for my food, the pizza looked good from the top but there was no crisp, no chew to the crust. I ordered their pepperoni. I felt the rosemary was overpowering. The undercarriage was blonder than a golden locked surfer. Some of the meals required utensils and we had to repeatedly ask for utensils, only to have them eventually hand out low budget plastic to-go cutlery. I guess it was better than eating the slaw with the fingers. The server was apologetic. One of us ordered a burger. The bun disintegrated. It was a gluten free bun. I did appreciate them subbing it out when they found my friend was vegan. The server was friendly. I think they were understaffed. Bottom line, would I go back? No. No. And No.

Our server Austin noticed my bf's birthday when checking our ids and really took care of us, so we had a great first experience here. Shoutout to him! I'd say 3/5 and 5/5 respectively, so BJ's ultimately gets a 4/5. spinach and artichoke dip // 5/10 // you can definitely taste the artichoke in this one. wasn't the best to us though because we've had better cheesy spinach dips. BJ's brewhouse happy hour margarita // 7/10 // there wasn't that much of an alcohol taste because it seemed pretty watered down, but i can't really complain for a $6 marg. I didn't feel much after drinking but my bf was pretty red after. baby back ribs // 7/10 // we got the thursday special of half a rack of ribs for $20, which comes with your choice of two sides. not the best, not the worst. it was cooked a little dryly but the sauce helped balance that out. caesar salad // 7.75 // the salad was well doused in dressing and the croutons added a nice crunch. it's kind of hard to make salad taste bad if you put enough dressing on it to make it creamy, like that one Julia Child saying: "with enough butter, anything is good." just replace the butter with dressing though lol. side of mashed potatoes // 7/10 // didn't really stand out, but we did finish it. clam chowder // 7.5/10 // pretty decent clam chowder. again, not the best i've had, but it was satisfying enough. i liked it even more when i added a bunch of black pepper to it though; it added a little something-something that i felt was missing. chips and guac/salsa // 7/10 // also wasn't special but was fine. monster pizookie/salted caramel pizookies // 8/10 // i'm pretty sure BJ's created the pizookie, so this is their bread and butter. both pizookies were topped with their vanilla bean ice cream; the cookie is crisp yet moist in the pan, while the ice cream balances out the sweetness. both together created a wonderful contrast of warm and cold. Ultimately, I'd come back and would recommend others to try, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Maybe if I'm really feeling a pizookie. Just a little note: We were a little confused about seating and whatnot because it was loud and hectic (we couldn't really hear the host well); the gist of what we got is there's a raised area with steps that's different from the other area??
