This was the NICEST, KINDEST and most competent staff I have ever met. I brought my 95 1/2 year old friend in today for multiple tooth extractions. The entire staff was so warm and caring, I wish I had more words to express my gratitude. Dr Stephenson is amazing and was able to extract all of her teeth in less than 30 minutes. I needed all four of my wisdom teeth extracted and had been waiting for five months for another oral surgeon in Napa to contact the local hospital anesthesiologist in order to put me out given that the removal of my wisdom teeth would be my first surgery and my biggest life fear. They warned me it would be months before I could get an appointment for the procedure. I followed up every month but just kept getting dismissed, "oh maybe next month; June for sure; actually late July." I gave up on waiting on the other oral surgeon since one tooth began to break the surface and ended up scheduling a consultation with Dr. Steffensen. The whole staff was very warm and welcoming. Dr. Steffensen took the time to listen and answer all of my tedious questions without making me feel rushed in any way. He also reassured me that I could call him literally any time of day with questions following the procedure (if I was in pain, needed different meds, etc). Dr. Steffensen truly cares for his patients, and I've found that to be rare in the Napa medical field unfortunately. His bedside manner made me feel very trusting in him to perform this procedure that caused me SO much anxiety. By the end of my consultation, they offered me a procedure the NEXT MORNING, so I took it! Again, the staff didn't keep me waiting at all, welcomed me and praised me for "doing so well" and let me know exactly what was going on before putting me under general anesthesia. Dr. Steffensen happily answered my last-minute questions and gently started the IV to get things going. Next thing I knew I was struggling to open my eyes as one of his assistants was keeping a close watch on me while we waited for my mother to pick me up. I think I had struggled to ask a few of the same questions due to the gauze and the medication but the assistant was very sweet and tolerant. Overall a wonderful experience and a very caring environment. I'm very glad that I had Dr. Steffensen perform the procedure I'd been dreading for eight years. I'd recommend him to anyone in need of oral surgery- especially if they have severe anxiety about it as I did. read more

Doctor Stephensen, Is not only a wonderful Dentist he is also a really wonderful person. He is very compassionate and takes time to explain your procedures. He makes sure that you have the appropriate medications after your procedures and the office follows up with a phone call to your home to check on you. He only performs oral Surgery, and he is the best at what he does. He took my daughters wisdom teeth out and she never forgot how kind and gentle he was to her. Dr. Steffensen should get 4 stars but because of the billing staff rudeness and incompetence, I cannot give it. The billing staff think that a medical necessity statement for an extraction should come from your medical doctor. She stated that they didn't even have to bill my insurance, that it was just a courtesy, and then hung up on me when I argued with her. Way to keep customers coming back! read more

I will start of by saying that I suffer from a Dentist PHOBIA! However, my visit to Dr. Jon E. Steffensen's office could easily be the best dental experience of my life! Dr. Steffens and his staff are patient, friendly and very professional. I went for wisdom teeth extractions and I was very nervous when I arrived to the office. The front desk staff, Socorro and Montse, was very kind and attentive. I felt welcomed from the as soon as I walked in. The paperwork process did not take long and they made sure I understood everything always reassuring they were there in case I had any questions. The girls have a great sense of humor and they made me feel at ease with their conversations always maintaining a great level of professionalism. When it was time for me to go to the surgery room, I was greeted by the doctor's assistant, Nancy. As soon as I sat on the chair my anxiety kicked in. I explained my phobia to her and she was very understanding of my severe anxiety and did everything she could to accommodate it. Nancy is the most compassionate, sweet and professional girl! She made me feel very comfortable and thoroughly explained everything that was going to happen to detail before Dr. Steffensen arrived. At this point I was very calm and did not feel nervous anymore. I was impressed with the level of professionalism and kindness I was being treated. Dr. Steffensen explained the procedure once again. He has a great personality. He is highly skilled and genuinely wants to do the best for his patients. The procedure was quick and painless. You should know that Dr. Steffensen has the magic touch. I can't stop raving about him. During and after the extraction I felt NOTHING! A little soreness of course but that never hurt anyone. I barely bled and I didn't have to starve. It was phenomenal! I sincerely cannot recommend Dr. Steffensen and his team enough. They are an amazing team and they work together systematically an efficiently. i was scared to have a wisdom tooth removed because ,as a kid, i only remember my dad moaning in pain, for hours, and , as a tough old navy vet, he was very brave and rarely ever complained about any pains, but he did after his 4 wisdom teeth were pulled. i was very relieved to find that i had no pain during the proceedure, and got the proper meds afterward to heal up with only moderate discomfort. what a relief ! going back soon to get another tooth pulled. will follow up, but expect a good experience. would give 10 stars if i could. read more

I can not give any stars for this business. I first need to say that Dr Steffensen himself removed my daughter's wisdom teeth successfully in March 2015 It was a simple procedure in the sense that all her teeth were erupted. My experience with the billing staff was completely degrading and were very impersonal. I was told on several occasions at the time of the initial eval and time of surgery that my daughter had no co pay. Then several months later I get a 319.00 bill without any explanation. When I went in with my bill they told me it was an error. Then another few months went by with another bill that now indicated 180 days over due. I called and was told again it was an error. I then received another bill this time it was around Aug-Sept 2015 stating it was over due. No call no explanation. I called and was sent an itemized bill showing that dental coverage had a 319 $ discrepancy . Now, by this time, because I had no personal contact it felt degrading . I pay my bills and on time. I paid 160.00 $ January with a letter with my concerns and disappointments how I was treated. On February 16 th I received a letter from a collection agency for the remaining 156$. Of course I paid as I do not want my credit report tainted. I will never recommend this business not because of the Dr. but because of who he has on staff especially with the billing staff. A simple call would have been nice. BEWARE . DO NOT TRUST THEM WHEN THEY SAY THERE IS NO CO PAY. BTW the one star was because it wouldn't allow me to post with zero stars. I had a very bad experience with this office. Would not recommend to anyone, due to the office staff and billing person. They do not know what they are doing. Was told I had to pay my part on day of service or work would not be done, which I did and I had no problem doing this. They stated my insurance would pay the rest which they had already confirmed and they would take care of. Three months later I was billed 1200.00 after I had payed "my part" (475.00) on day of service. I attempted for two months to get a explanation from the billing person who never called me back after repeated calls and leaving my name and number. Finally after talking to someone (not the billing person)at the desk they said it was an error and my insurance did not pay all that was billed. I talked to my insurance company and they stated that the the dentist office did make an error, they should have known on day of service what was to be payed. I am very mad and upset that I and my family have to suffer financially for there error. I am also very mad that it took over three months before they notified me. I have told all my friends NOT to go here !!! read more
