They offer a Saturday breakfast buffet which is small but nice. They have an amazing selection of games to play. My biggest takeaway would be next time I'd stay in a cabin because of the noise level. Ravenwood Castle is well known for its focus on games of all kinds - board games, social deduction games, scavenger hunts - you name it, they have it. My mom and I came for a special weekend where they were hosting a murder mystery. Put on by a separate company, but hosted within Ravenwood Castle, our murder mystery experience started on Friday night and ran through Sunday morning. We worked in teams to solve the mystery and along the way participated in goofy and quirky games and puzzles to help us score points. When you stay, you can eat on site, or you can book a cabin and bring & prepare food in a small kitchenette. Alternatively, there are a few places you can order from / go out to in the surrounding areas, but nothing is particularly close by because the castle is in a remote area. While I found the food to be mediocre, the beer and whiskey selection is great, and a surprise stand out was their version of butterbeer, which is dangerously chuggable. If you're someone who loves board games and wants a weekend away to connect with friends or family, this is a great place to go!

One of the banes of traveling is a lack of access to a nice bowl of fruit or a salad that isn't wilted. It's very hard to come by anything fresh. All of our food has to come from restaurants. Chain-hotels that actually offer something to help this misery are so few and far in-between. I'm very grateful for a pop of freshness. It helps! It can be quite hard for one to be satisfied with a hotel, especially of this class. One reason is that they represent a temporary stop on a journey, away from familiar comforts. So, you're already aggravated before you get there and then they never seem to meet your needs, as if travelers are just happy enough to have access to a toothbrush for purchase. A bed and a roof! Perhaps the model they follow is that we need so little and are so easy to please because we are suffering so much already by being on the road that we just take whatever old crap they have to offer, like canned ravioli and whatever else preserves well. However, the rooms are very clean and so are the bathrooms (see my attached pix). This one is conveniently located right next door to the Holzer Medical Center - within walking distance! Also, keep in mind that there are not a lot of choices in Gallipolis, OH. The rooms are very clean and have kick ass air conditioning in case you are visiting Gallipolis in the summer time. Room entrances are located inside, NOT outside - one of the reasons we chose this place was because they had interior room entrances. A couple of nights into our stay, we realized that they do not lock the external doors - what's the point in this? We might as well have external entrances to our rooms. Let's talk about the hooker now... our group was standing in the hallway late one night and noticed some chick in orange hot pants step out of the door and then wave at us. It was kind of weird and I wasn't sure what to think at first. Then, I noticed she walked by the same door again - about five minutes later, she came back inside and approached our group with a question. She wanted to know if they still served coffee in the lobby. Now that she was up close, it was more than obvious that she was a hooker. All in all, she caused no harm, but the fact that anyone can walk up and down the hallways any time of the night means that this place isn't as safe as it seems. One more thing to add - the family that owns/runs this place is VERY, VERY, VERY friendly - I can't say enough about how they make you feel at home. I would probably stay there again, but they do need to address the security and climate control of the common hallways - that would bring them up to four stars.

The room had a clean scent, the linens were nice and clean, the bathroom nice too! Nothing fancy, but when you want to spend a night or two and not break a bank, this is the place to go! P.S.: the front desk clerk said they're a pilot program for fresh breakfast. They don't serve pre-made, microwaved food: it's prepared in a real kitchen the same morning. Had a child or untrained animal consumed this pill (unknown if a vitamin, heart pill, or fentanyl added) could've sickened or killed any child or dog. I turned this in a nobody seemed to grasp the severity (not to mention housekeeping & Exec Housekeeper & GM walking rooms) lack of attention to detail Below are the pics of the room PTAC that hateful & sarcastic GM Chip said "ALL THE ROOMS SMELL THAT WAY when housekeeping turn on A/C for guests prior to arrival." Looking at pics and being familiar with PTACs, this thing hasn't been cleaned in a couple years. No wonder entire room smelled like rancid mildew. GM Chip's many condescending comments were not well received and will not be tolerated. Instead of offering to help move to different flagged hotels 1/2 mile away I wasn't aware of, Chip said the only rooms avail were at some nasty roach motel 2 doors away that I wouldn't stay in without an armed guard. Just when I thought Chip only treated me like a moron, upon loading car to leave, another gentleman stormed out extremely upset. He said GM Chip just treated him like a fool and refused to book the 15 rm block for a later date even though front desk showed rooms available. He said after clerk confirmed availability and he was going to pay deposit, Chip came around the ofc corner and told her not to book the rooms for his non-profit group because they may not be available. This guy was fuming. I can see why. Chip's style and demeanor are unacceptable. This hotel may be financially successful, but I assure you it isn't due to his people skills.
