The hotel was adequate and met our needs for a one night stay. The positives: 1. It is close to the highway. Less than 1 mile. 2. Free continental breakfast (They did wrap items individually for safety concerns. 3. Plenty of free guest parking 4. Open area to work or relax 5. 24-hour hot water and coffee. Area of possible improvement 1. They were very lenient about enforcing the public area mask policy 2. The rooms were a bit small 3. The staff was light, but they were able to multi-task Overall, a fine stay.

You can usually count on Hampton hotels to be a great place to stay and this Hampton was great! We booked our room and checked in all on the Hilton app. We used our phone as the room key, so we never went to the front desk. The room was very clean, the king bed was comfy. The room included a mini fridge and microwave. The bathroom was very nice with a large walk in shower, no bathtub. However there was an odd smell on our floor when we checked in. It was gone by morning. The free breakfast was decent. Belgium waffles, french toast sticks, egg scramble with ham and cheese along with the standard cereals, oatmeal and yogurt. There was not nearly enough seating for breakfast, we stood to eat while our kids sat.

Got the last room. Tv was gone due to lightening strike, so they gave us a discount. Lovely hotel, very clean, quiet and nice breakfast.

One minute you're driving along backroads in Ohio and then BAM, you're starting at a medieval castle. Ravenwood Castle is well known for its focus on games of all kinds - board games, social deduction games, scavenger hunts - you name it, they have it. My mom and I came for a special weekend where they were hosting a murder mystery. Put on by a separate company, but hosted within Ravenwood Castle, our murder mystery experience started on Friday night and ran through Sunday morning. We worked in teams to solve the mystery and along the way participated in goofy and quirky games and puzzles to help us score points. When you stay, you can eat on site, or you can book a cabin and bring & prepare food in a small kitchenette. Alternatively, there are a few places you can order from / go out to in the surrounding areas, but nothing is particularly close by because the castle is in a remote area. While I found the food to be mediocre, the beer and whiskey selection is great, and a surprise stand out was their version of butterbeer, which is dangerously chuggable. If you're someone who loves board games and wants a weekend away to connect with friends or family, this is a great place to go!

There is a plethora to choose from as soon as you check in or when you're dining in the pub or premade scavenger hunts to do while walking around the property during your stay. My husband and I aren't board game enthusiasts but we did have a great time at the castle. After checking in we made our way to the King Arthur Suite, a short walk from the check-in desk and through the dining hall. The door to the King Arthur Suite is quite literally in the middle of the dining hall which we personally felt was kind of awkward because it is a prime gathering space for most of the guests. The two story suite was spacious, painted in a funky green and featured a giant jacuzzi tub which was the highlight of the room. A comfortable four poster bed on the second story made us feel like royalty and is close to the door that leads to a porch over looking the grounds behind the castle. My husband made a fire in the large fire pit outside of the castle that is closer to the cabins. The area was stocked with wood and we spent the majority of our evening enjoying a warm fire on the cool fall night. The pub downstairs serves beer and basic bar fare. It wasn't very busy when we stopped by but service was wonderful and we felt very welcome. Another couple proposed the four of us play a game together and we reluctantly obliged. Our patient competitors taught us how to play "Ticket To Ride" and it was a blast. So, in the end, Ravenwood Castle (and our new friends) did turn us into game people.

Saw some art there one time, it was made for art it just works.. like a bouquet on a brunch table. Honestly you could do anything there.. a mixer, a paint and sip, that fits right?? Art and wine..yes please. You could hold a ballroom dancing class, heck you could hold a ball like a gala style benefit. Since I mentioned it perhaps a brunch type thing like from 10-14, everyone likes brunch and mossas maybe toss some puppies in there just for pettin, no.. what about a humane society fashion show, get them all glammed up and showcase them, talk about their likes and dislikes, their aspirations. Bunch of boozy young to middle aged adults high on Prosecco and crepes, lot of happy snooterdoodles getting homes.. why stop there.. maybe you pop an hours on both ends, 9-3 or 4? Of course it would be on Saturday.. duh. Maybe there is a screen set up in a corner of the room with all kinds of cozy bean bag chairs and blankets, pillows. On the screen it's playing nothing but Tom Hanks movies, this event is now from 9-5 so 8 hours of Tom Hank's blockbusters, Turner and Hooch, You've got mail, a man called Otto, Cast Away, and terminal, that lest one doesn't have animals but it is wholesome. For the first half like till 1 ish everyone can watch Tommies movies, snuggle pups and drink classy breakfast cocktails. What of the announcer is a little old man with a bow tie and his name is Hank. Hank Loves dogs and maybe he gets a little emotional when he talks about how bad they need homes.. that's going to tug on some heart strings.. you just drank 4 bloody Mary's and watched Tom fall in love with a stray cat and then Hank Gets up to showcase a poor puppy in need! He talks about how his late wife Darlene loved helping animals and her dying wish was for Hank to be happy and make the world a better place!! He pulls out a HANKerchief and wipes a solitary tear and smiles and says: I have had a wonderful life, and now it's time for Sampson to have a Wonderful life too, and a hopeful volunteer walks out showcasing a needy dog who has a big smile and is wearing a handsome vest, cause he gets a little cold sometimes.. awww. He love sleeping in the bed, under the covers and his favorite treat are little cubed sweet potato bites.. Hank says: he's a good good boi, and I'm hope that someone has it in their heart to give Sampson his forever home, and if you can't have pets then we hope you make a donation. What's this event called you ask? Hankering for Homes, I just got goosebumps typing that.. i hope that someone who has the money and drive finds it in their heart to organize this event, I would really like to attend... I digress, this is a fantastic venue with plenty of possibilities, but let's be honest, it was made for Hankering for Homes.

Cool Ass Hotel!!!! If you are a Lover of old Hotels this is your place!!!…read more It started with wanting to make Point Pleasant my first stop in my road trip home to California.. Why Point Pleasant??? Because of the Mothman of course... So we embarked from Woodbridge Virginia to Point Pleasant West Virginia... After hours of driving we see signs pointing us in the way of our destinaton... We arrived around 17:00 to the town center a few turns down some one way streets and there we are parked right in front of The Lowe Inn!!! I get out and walk through the doors and up the steps into the lobby... Its like I've been transported into a Stephen King book... Cool Right?? Well guess which one?? Scaning the suroundings I see a Phone Operator's switchboard, old room boxes for mail, pictures from the early 1900's & a small boy coloring on the floor but nobody behind the desk.. As I get closer to the front desk the boy looks up at me smiles, says Hi and takes off to another part of the hotel... I say HELLLO and out walks the caretaker of the Hotel!!! She greets us with a smile and asks if she can help... Of course we reply with the "we would like to stay for one night" Mary then begins to ask if she can see the rooms and the Caretaker says of course lets go upstairs... They leave and I begin to take pictures of this cool lobby... ... This place put me in the mindset of Stephen Kings: "The Shinning" and upon there return we find out that we will be the only ones in the Hotel tonight!!! Mary then asks about ghosts.... OOOOOOO right!!!! Caviot we will be staying in the same Room (303) as "Rob" from Survivor!!!!! Lets just say he freaked out when he stayed in that room!!! LOL I thought to myself what a wimp.... :) So we check in $59.99 plus tax for the night cool right!!!! The Whole hotel to ourselves for One night only 59.99 can't beat that.... The Caretaker hands me a Skeleton Key with a room plate 303... Now I am like too cool a Skeleton Key to unlock & lock our door to the room.... Of course I have pictures of me using the Skeleton Key opening the door. I grab our things and head upstairs.... This place has grand hallways and are long just like in "The Shinning" I was really expecting to see the girls on the tricycles but not this time... Maybe it was too early the sun had not set yet..... We head back down looking to get something to eat.. The Caretaker recommends one of her favorites down the street called Iron Gate... Dinner is over and we walk back to the hotel cold quiet erie but awesome!!! This town is right out of a Hollywood set.. In the town where the Mothman Prophecies originated!!!!! Back at the hotel our car is the only one the street creepy.... When the caretaker said we would be the only ones in the hotel she meant it... Nobody there just the Janitor but we never saw that person or even heard them that whole night... Heading up the stairs Mary was waiting for some ghost activity all I wanted was to shower and get naked... The room has a King bed that feels like Heaven when on it... the decor is early 1900's there is a Water heater to heat the room... This room ooozes Coolness!!!!!!!! If there were any ghosts in our room that night all they saw was my ass and a whole lot of naked!!! HAHAHHA LOL :) Honestly in all of the hotels I have stayed Hilton, JW Marriot, Hyatt, Wynn, Sheraton this was the best sleep in all my Life!!!!!! Never have I slept sooo good and been so refreshed!!! I love this place and will be back in September for the Mothman Festival....

As soon as we got into town we stopped at the statue of Mothman, I took lots of pictures, squealed like a small child on Christmas morning, and then asked the question, "Where to sleep tonight?" As soon as I saw the Lowe, I knew this was where we were sleeping. It's a fantastic hotel with the older elegance of a structure built in 1901. The caretakers were very friendly and allowed me to walk around the hotel taking pictures (there were no other guests) and telling me about the history. Yes, it can be creepy, specially if you read about the supposed hauntings of the hotel and have seen the Shining or the Innkeepers, but it's also gorgeous. We stayed the weekend after Thanksgiving and the family was decorating it for Christmas. Absolutely gorgeous! As some have mentioned the decoration is unusual and quite eclectic, the rooms all seem to be different, there is a banquet hall, a mezzanine, and a very cool ballroom on the fourth floor. Some rooms don't have amenities like refrigerators, the cable seemed to go out for a few seconds every few minutes, and there were no ice machines and such, but the hotel itself was just so much fun to wander around. It was also fairly inexpensive- our bill was around $70 something after tax and such. Fantastic place that I eagerly await another trip too!
