Whether you're just passing through or in town to see The Mothman Museum ( Just across the street ) or Tu- Endie- Wei state park ( A few blocks down the road ) or even The Silver Bridge collapse memorial ( Also a few blocks down the road ) The Lowes Hotel is the perfect place to stay while in town. We stayed just for one night & we ended up meeting the owner & many family members who made sure our stay was as nice as possible. For those paranormal enthusiasts it's reported the Lowes is haunted, especially certain rooms. We met a few patrons who were also staying in the hotel & claim a little boy can be witnessed riding a trike down the hallways as well as an old man who mysteriously shows up walking the halls, although we saw nothing of the sort. The Lowes Hotel is quite old but it's clean, neat & has everything you need. My wife and I highly recommend staying there. read more

The Lowe Hotel is a piece of history frozen in time; Being over or near a century old, the majority of this hotel is preserved in it's original condition. Owned now by the Finley family, this hotel may not have all the most modern convinces, but it does have something most don't; It's haunted! Thankfully, yes, they have an elevator, yes, your room has air conditioning. Yes, it has a mini fridge. The beds are big and soft! However, the phones are located out in the halls, and the last modern update seems to be the installation of the elevator in the 60's. If that bums you out, I was on the third floor and had no idea they had an elevator, and bringing up luggage up three flights of stairs? That's part of the past that can STAY in the past, far as I'm concerned! This is a family establishment, and they do have things like coffee or silverware, just ask at the front desk. As a pro-tip, the owners DO NOT discuss the hauntings UNTIL you have spent at least one night there. I asked for the most haunted room they had, but it was booked, so I got another room known to be active. I was woken up several times during the night for no reason, and did spy a little boy who wasn't there when I turned to tell him to go back to his parents. First off, to people who have left negative reviews, I don't get it. Of course they're not going to want people to just walk in "interested in possibly staying there" but really you just want to walk around and tour the place. If you want to see the hotel or experience any ghost stuff, rent a room like everyone else. This is a business. Secondly, if you're expecting this to be a hotel atmosphere like a Holiday Inn or something, it's not. It's more of a bed and breakfast type vibe. Which I like! But again, if you're expecting corporate modern hotel aesthetic and vibe, then this place isn't for you. The employees that my husband and I met and dealt with were extremely friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The place is old! Which means it's going to be creaky, have some cracks here and there, have that "old building" smell, etc. Which, by the way, that old building smell isn't a bad scent but I guess some people (looking for modern feels) might not like it. I love the feel of this place! It really looks and feels like stepping back in time. Even though it's older and hasn't had a ton of updates, it's still extremely clean, the beds are comfortable, and it's a great place. I 100% would stay here again! If you're thinking of staying here, do it! Just ignore the negative reviews because those people don't know what they're talking about. read more

The Historic Lowe Hotel is just across the street from the Mothman Museum and statue making it the perfect place to stay while visiting Point Pleasant. The interior entry is beautiful with its original tile, stained glass, and marble staircase. The room doors still use skeleton keys to lock. While it's not a brand new hotel with all the amenities, it is clean, the beds are comfortable, and suited our purposes for a weekend getaway. If you're looking for upscale comforts of the big city, go elsewhere. If you're looking to stay in a place with great history and appreciate the preservation of those places, this is the place for you. I would definitely stay there again if we ever go back. read more

Walking by the hotel my granddaughter commented on how pretty it was and my daughter in law saw the "historic " sign so we decided to go in and take a look. When we entered, an old woman was talking on the phone. She briefly put down the phone and said "can I help you." I told her we just wanted to take a look because it looked so pretty from outside. She very rudely told us to look in the lobby only because she was "trying to run a hotel." She then got back on the phone and was on it until we left in a couple of minutes. Being from out of town we could have been potential guests on our next visit but instead I would tell anybody and everybody to stay away. read more

A very unique and one-of-kind hotel! My family stayed at the Lowe Hotel while visiting Point Pleasant for Mothman sightseeing. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to make engage with our family and make local recommendations for food, shopping, etc. We stayed on the third floor, which is rumored to be haunted. While we didn't have any paranormal experiences, the hotel does have a different vibe and feel to it...Shining like! It made for fun talk and gave our kids something to think about at night! The hotel is conveniently located across from the Mothman Museum and a short drive from Mothman's home at TNT. The hotel definitely worth a stay if you're in Point Pleasant. read more

Had a great weekend stay with friends for my husband's birthday. Even with the current state of things, Marcia was very personable. She took the time to recommend restaurants in town and sit and chat with my friends and me. The hotel is like stepping back in time and is beautifully decorated with antiques. We stumbled on this landmark gem while at a WV rest stop when my wife picked up a wonderfully done booklet on Mason County and all within. She called the hotel and was told upfront that they are a very old hotel and to expect nothing fancy... Well it may not be new and fancy, but we are so happy for that. We were greeted by some of the family owners and got all kinds of wonderful ideas of things to do and see during our short stay. It might be old but the woodwork and details that this hotel has there is no new hotel that can match! And what a beautiful river view. Besides the river you have to examine all the murals on the flood wall. Amazing. Check the town event calendar and make this hotel one of your stops. You won't be sorry. read more

We didn't even get to stay! We booked 2 months in advanced for only a 1 day 2 night stay. 4 days before our reservation they called and said "We don't want to work labor day" and refused to take us on the day we booked 2 months in advance. After hearing stories of how racist the elderly lady who runs the hotel is I'm so glad we didn't stay. They also refuse to do booking confirmations and couldn't even get my name right when they called. And then had the audacity to call 4 days '"ample time to get new lodging". They are grossly unprofessional and unpleasant. read more

My husband and I stayed here for our 5th Wedding Anniversary. He called ahead and made all the necessary arrangements as a surprise for me. Not only were we going to Point Pleasant West Virginia to see the Mothman but, we were staying in a 110 year old haunted hotel! AND !!!! To make it even better ... he made sure he booked us the most haunted room in the hotel! Rush and Ruth Finley, the owners, are just the best people! They made sure everything my husband planed went off perfectly, even to having two wine glasses and a cork screw available for the bottle of wine he surprised me with. Although Ruth has a very strict rule she never speaks of the hauntings until you have spent at least one night, she was great with letting us roam the fourth floor (which wasn't open to the public at the time) and helping us with information about the local area. The hotel is in a slow renovation, which is fine by me because they are taking a great deal of love in their restoration. We had room 316, which is the most haunted room in the hotel. It is three rooms put together into a suit. Now do not get excited thinking this was half a hotel floor, it was three old fashion rooms. Ya know back when they didn't have bathrooms in each room? So one room became the bathroom, one room was the seating area, and one was where the two double beds were. The room was adorned with not exactly period turn of the century furniture and decor but older furnishings. The bathroom was well stocked with ample towels and soaps, the beds had four pillows each, and the room was very clean. Although it was not incredibly hot during our stay, the two window air conditioning units were more than adequate for keeping our room cool. Most amazingly was that for as old as this building is, there was no noise from the other guests. One would think that for as thin as the walls were, the transoms above the doors and simple wooden doors on each room you would hear everything in the other rooms but surprisingly you do not, but then it is possible I was just so sound asleep in the big comfy bed I didn't hear anything! As far as the "super natural" happenings ... I have to tell you I have never had a more peaceful night sleep in my life! I know that sounds like nothing but when you understand that I never sleep through the night without waking up several times for one reason or another, you would understand why I personally think the "spirits" protected me and helped me sleep through the night. You do often get the weird feeling of being watched but that was really all that we "experienced". Having said that I do want to say that while we were there, my husband and I walked all over that town and were absolutely exhausted by 10 pm and quite literately passed out cold in those big fluffy beds. We took a lot of our ghost hunting equipment with us to take pictures, EVPs, IRF's and all sorts of things but never even unpacked our equipment because we were having so much fun with everything else in the area and talking with the locals! I can't hardly give this place a review cus I wouldn't stay there . First impressions mean a lot. We walked in and was rudely greeted by the wench behind the counter. She says walk ins have to stay in the lobby . We wanted to look around and see if maybe we would stay there . That's probably why no one was there . We were kinda interested in the place cus we heard it was haunted . So we ask her if she has any ghost stories . We stayed here in July 2016. This hotel was very charming, strange, cool, and comfortable. The owner greeted us and upgraded us to a suite since it was a slow Sunday night. We had a four month old baby and he slept great (that's what really matters) in his rock 'n play in the adjoining room. So did we, the bed was firm but not too firm. And the AC was working well. This place reminds me of the hotel in Barton Fink- but much nicer and not as creepy. It's just got that old cinematic vibe going on. The owner was very hospitable and we met one of the permanent residents there too, who raved about it. It looked like some of the locals like to hang out in the pretty lobby occasionally. It's a very chill and homey place, but with a little bit of warm eeriness. No ghost sightings but even for skeptics, it's a lot of fun. I highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay again. It's a great halfway point between Chicago and the Outer Banks. Take a walk down by the water to see all the murals, statues and the state park. Great views! read more
