Immediately after your long journey across the world's smallest suspension bridge you'll be entering Steedman Woods - a nature path through some trees that was donated to the people of York in 1978 by C. Richard Steedman who wanted to keep the woods "forever wild".
The path is broken into two sections: there's a loop that partially trails along private property, and there's another path that goes up behind that private property into the nature reserve. However, that part is not a loop, so you'll end at Mill Dam Road and will have to double-back the same way you came to get back to that initial loop part of the trail which will deposit you back at Wiggly Bridge.
The loop part of the walk is maybe around a mile.
It's mostly very even terrain and good for a quick jaunt (because, why not? You're right here, you might as well get some fresh air, too). Good for kids and it's also dog friendly (on leash, I believe). The shore and mudflats are actually inaccessible, because of habitat restoration (which is really interesting to look at, and - as far as I know - has been going on for years now), so you need to stay on the trails. However, regardless of which season you visit in, you'll find it peaceful and good for bird and people watching. read more
