Called about a program was no help at all and was very rude, had to call 3 times for a reply, wouldn't recommend.

Maybe I caught the guy there on a bad day... but I had a key that was already cut, and I had swapped housings to a new one because the old one was old and wanted a new, better looking case with the remote buttons for a Toyota FJ Cruiser. I needed to get a new transponder chip for the key so it would start the vehicle since the one from the swapped housing was either lost or damaged when I disassembled the old housing. I had that key made a couple years and it worked perfectly but unfortunately (my fault) the chip was not working after disassembly. He had other customers and said it would be a wait, that he didn't know if he could do it from the valet key, it could take 15 to 45 minutes and then he stated he didn't even know if it would work. I explained the previous place had done it in about 10 minutes, and he said "maybe you should go back there." The shop which I had it done at was in Florida, so I said that was a bit far. ‍ I was courteous in my attitude, but he basically sounded like he didn't have the time or wanted to even mess with it. I would have gladly waited and paid the fee but the experience left me with a bad taste. Especially since it was only the chip, the key was already cut and the remote buttons already programmed. Meh. Perhaps the owner had a couple bad days with all these Covid rules... He was very direct and often interrupted me when in face to face. Knowledgeable, but almost arrogant. Called asking for service with a fob twice. Said he would call back and never did. He obviously doesn't need business that bad. All in all, customer service was a "meh." read more

Called the business. Spoke with very courteous gentleman. Explained that I had some optics in a case that i could not open because the lock could not be opened. He explained everything. Turns out the lock was broken. He was able to open the lock without damaging anything. Apparently a spring had broken inside the lock. I can now use my scope again. It only took him maybe 5 minutes on the outside. He did not charge me. I would recommend this locksmith to my family and friends. read more

I've gotten keys cut here before and they always work fine. I really wanted to say how much I appreciated their help today when I pulled over to take the chains off my tires. One of them was stuck because the connection had gotten bent, and it wouldn't come off. I was lying there in the freezing slush, and my mom went to ask them if they had anything that would cut through the cable. They didn't, but a man came with pliers and was able to bend it back far enough that it could be unhooked. He knelt in the melting ice without a second thought and did that for us. I had two collectible type banks from my childhood that had keyed locks. I had taken them to a couple of locksmiths on the west side of the state, with no result. I figured I might not rescue those precious pennies and dimes but it was worth a shot. They were friendly, knowledgeable and arrived at my car when they said they would, (which was sooner than other locksmiths/tow companies ETA's that I called), and the final price was the same as the quote they gave me over the phone, (which was also $25 cheaper than the other places I called). I've had bad experiences in the past where I've been given a quote on the phone and then the final price ends up being quite a bit more eventhough there was no reasons for it, my car was still parked where I told them it was and my car's year, make and model hadn't changed and was still the same as what I told them over the phone. Tow trucks make more money towing then they do locksmithing so their locksmith rates will usually reflect that, getting your door unlocked will generally cost the same as a tow minus some milage. I will be recommending Steebers to all my friends, family and anyone else who will listen. read more

The lady I talked to on the phone was friendly and knowledgeable. The problem they closed at 5:00pm I guess I am used to most buisnesses to be open till 5:30 or 6. My husband ended up using Mount's instead to get our keys cut since we live in Kennewick and we wouldn't be driving to Richland until the beginning of next week. read more

I recently went to Steebers with a problem with a door lock for a boat that is no longer in production that was missing its keys. I was worried that i was going to have to spend alot of money on replacing the door mechanism and drilling new holes to make it work. The good folks at Steebers took the time to take the lock apart and rebuild it so that i could have a set of keys. What a great experience! From the time they answered the phone until we shook hands goodbye, the time was super positive. I had no keys for my front door. Up to this point it hasn't been a problem but since I try to be proactive, i wanted to have keys. Not only did I keys and a properly working lock, which it hadn't been, I learned about good locks and ones to avoid. The whole experience was wonderful. The gentleman fixed my other dead bolts too. I was having trouble finding an ignition switch for an older Honda motorcycle, I was recommended to steebers by a local Motorcycle shop to have them make me a key, a quick phone call and a very helpful lady told me to bring it in, within 5 minutes she had figured it out and sent me on my way, great customer service and an awesome experience.
