Food was tasty and plentiful. Didn't see any planes land or take off but I can't discount Stearman's food for that. Still a cool place, great decor and setting. We were there after any lunch business, but still plenty of people! No glare from sunshine out of the big glass windows - kinda a cloudy day. I enjoyed my grilled chicken wrap, LOVED the skinny fries!! Service for ranch dressing to dip plus ketchup? Yes please. Hub had the plentiful wings and tho the salad wasn't quite perfect at first - they somehow forgot the bacon and bleu cheese crumbles, our server & bartender Millie made it right. read more

This place has the best food. You can watch the plane's come in and out. Sometimes the helicopters fly in to eat.

Loved the ambience of an a restaurant on the field of an airport! I ended up with the ribeye steak, mashed potatoes and white gravy. Excellent food choices! Will definitely come back at a later point in time. Brooklyn and her service was awesome! read more

Good diverse menu. A little bit pricey for what you get. Fun atmosphere and good service. We have yet to eat here in the day, so we haven't been able to watch the airplanes. We've only enjoyed the food. I don't know if on our first visit the cook was sick, but the chicken and the chicken nachos and on the chicken salad was tough and chewy and completely unflavored. On our second visit, we fared much better. The foods that seemed the most appreciated or the Reuben sandwich, the onion rings, the chicken sandwich, and the hand breaded chicken tenders. read more

Our first opportunity to eat here with a group of friends. My wife ordered fish and chips ($14.99), menu indicated three pieces of batter dipped cod and fries. We were expecting three pieces/strips of cod. What we received were three round cod nuggets about the size of a half dollar. Must be the most overpriced item on the menu. Don't recommend this food item. Other food similar to "bar food". Don't go out of your way, not sure if worth the drive. read more

Food was food and on an active airport , T34 flybys while eating what else do you need?

This is supposed to be a 'go-to' place where you can see planes come and go while you eat since most tables are in a hangar. But all glass walls means you have sun in your eyes, no matter where you sit. And now, air traffic is very slow. ONE plane was on the tarmac the whole time. Plus, for its 'attracting' customers because of its uniqueness, their menu is not much better than any other bar and grill. The food is good, yes. But it was so miserably LOUD that the noise plus the sun made it a 'fair' experience. We wouldn't bother going there again. read more

This place was just what we needed on our cross country road trip. After sitting in the car for long periods the last thing our twins want to do is sit down for a meal. Stearman Felid Bar & Grill has a playground for the kids. Unfortunately it was a little muddy when we went but still worth it. it's also on a small airfield so you can watch the planes take off and land. They had some decent happy hour food specials as well. My husband and I enjoyed a beer while the kids played. Food was decent, wish there were more non chain restaurants with play areas. read more

This restaurant thinks it's a destination restaurant location location because they are at a airport. The interior has a lot of aviation memorabilia. All around the servers are always polite. Nothing special one way or the other. The food is mediocre too good for me. There is not a reason to go there just for a particular food item. They think their chicken fried steak is out of this world in my wife would differ that opinion their places that I don't want to mention on this review that do a better chicken fried steak not far away. read more

So the vibe here is super cool. They had live music playing when we went. Unfortunately, their kitchen was struggling that night. I didn't end up eating because one steak was well done, the next was rare, the cheesy fries were cold the first round, then over fried to make them like rocks. The manager was polite and apologetic, he definitely seemed overwhelmed. I'll give them another shot down the road but it'll be a while. read more

Let me start with this... last night was the first time we had been to Stearman Field Bar & Grill in 3 years. The first time we went, the food and service was so poor, we said we wouldn't be back. Well, we thought that we would give it another go. BIG MISTAKE! The atmosphere is great! It's nice to sit in the restaurant and watch the airplanes come and go. But that's all that they have... atmosphere. My wife and I had a free appetizer card from our last experience. We asked the waitress what she recommended. Artichoke dip and chips (price $8.00). When it came out, it was literally a spoonful of dip, burned to the side of the cup they serve it in. The manager saw us trying to scrape the dip off the side with our chips. He offered to swap it for queso and salsa. He brought us salsa, no queso. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said she would take care of it. 10 minutes later we had a bowl of microwaved white, flavorless queso. I didn't say anything else, because it was free (no, I didn't eat it). I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich, no mayo with a little gravy on the side and ranch with crispy fries ($13 +). My wife ordered an individual pepperoni pizza ($8+). Sandwich came out, no toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. I didn't want cheese on it). They took a regular chicken fried steak and cut in half. The crust was mushy and coming off the steak. Fries cold and limp. My wife's pepperoni pizza looked like a frozen pizza with burnt crust. I was able to get the attention of another server and he said he would take care of it. 15 minutes later, the manager came out with my sandwich and said he put everything on it (including the cheese and mayo I didn't want). Fries were still cold. The meat on the bun was the same meat sent back 15 minutes earlier. I ended up eating half the sandwich and no fries. My wife ate 2 slices on her 6" pizza. We were done. Received the bill and paid, even for the giant bowl of gravy and 1oz cup of ranch. This time we decided that no matter what, we will not be back. Go to Stearman's for a beer and airplanes. Stay away from the food. read more

They need to get a little better control of their tables and not allow people to place orders for to go then allow them to eat at outside tables bypassing the waitlist. Might be a "local" thing. Can't believe on a holiday lunch time they would be out of a couple of their main menu items...pot pies and enchiladas. I will give them another chance in a few months to see if things change. read more

A fun place for a meal. The restaurant is just off the runway of the small Benton airport. Outdoor seating for great views of the runway in warmer weather. The food is decent but rather average. Service was very good. read more

My husband and I flew our plane in today for lunch. Great little airport and incredible food. What was even better though, our plane ended up with a dead battery and we ended up having to wait for help to arrive to fix the battery. It was a very hot day, so we came and sat back inside the restaurant.they kept bringing us water and ice and helping us anyway we needed. They went out of their way to be kind to us. read more

Stearman now use QR website to order your food so no one has to do any work seating you. you also get to pay online before your food ever gets to you. they prompt you to add a tip before you've received any service. i ordered a basic burger, tipped 20%. Ten minutes in I hadn't seen a soul and was wondering if this place even served water. Stearman offers a QR code to contact the manager directly. I used that to ask if I could get a glass of water, NO RESPONSE. Ten more minutes and my burger arrived (now at twenty minute) and I asked if I could get a glass of water which took another three minutes. THAT'S TWENTY THREE MINUTES TO GRT A GLASS OF WATER! The burger and fries were fair. It was a particularly slow afternoon and I'm not a demanding customer at all. I'll find some place else to spend my money from now on. read more

We ate here for the first time this evening. Not only is this place amazing but the food is great also. Amazing restaurant literally on the side of a small plane runway. We had the kickin' pilot potatoes for an appetizer and the chicken fried steak. This chunk of meat was not only huge but tender as well. I have had well over 100 chicken fried steak meals in my day and this one is definitely in the top 5 all time. Half of the seating is inside and the other half is outside on the covered patio. Shout out to Mollie, our server and the bartender for an amazing experience. I can wait to come back and try brunch sometime. Make reservations as this place fills up fast and lines are long on cool nights. This place is out in a field in the middle of nowhere, but definitely draws a crowd. read more

so I've been back once or twice since my original review. Not much has changed - the food has gotten better, it's passable, but nothing special. I had the Philly cheesesteak, and it had these weird ribbon cut onions that were a foot long, but everything else was diced.(?) It was underseasoned, and the fries, which were seasoned properly, were *barely* done. Again, great atmosphere if you like planes, and the service is still good. They just desperately need a menu overhaul. Squirting some Sriracha on chicken fried steak does not make it "Sriracha chicken". I think I understood the same guy that owns Oak & Pie also owns this place. Which makes sense, because Oak & Pie has had the same boring bland menu for 10 years. So not much hope Stearman will get any better, maybe I'll come back in five more years to see what's changed. read more

Our first time here: average food and below average service. Our server tried.. but was slow and we sat around with empty water cups almost the entire time. My sweet potato fries were soggy and seemed more like boiled potatoes,so I don't recommend that. Burger was decent and it was otherwise a cool spot to check out. read more

everyone else's food was good, but every bite of my ribeye had either fat or gristle. I didn't throw a fit but simply offered the information when asked how my food was when the waitress saw that I barely ate any of it. but that didn't matter. she didn't tell anyone and I was charged full price and not offered another steak. Also there about eight other tables open and we were seated right by the kitchen door. So our entire meal the employees one foot away from us were constantly walking in and out loudly saying, Door! Really cool destination dining for anyone who loves airplanes. The restaurant sits just 20 yards from the Stearman Field runway so you can watch small planes take off and land while you eat. Snag a table on the patio if the weather's nice. The food's pretty basic - sandwiches, salads, burgers, and the like. My chicken spinach salad with candied walnuts was decent, but really, the experience and the atmosphere are why you want to come here. Great place to bring kids. read more

Disappointed on a Sunday evening. Ordered the margarita that comes with a tahin rim per menu, but came out with salt. They fixed it, but cmon follow your menu. (And instead of taking my drink and making me wait 5 more minutes just bring me the correct one!) Ordered onion straws but got half crumbs and they tasted like they were sitting in the basket for a bit. Informed them, they corrected with more not fresh onion straws. Shroom Burger ordered medium came out very well done. Missed on the fixings as well. This restaurant is unique and I love the idea of it but listen...At a certain point management needs to lead not react. It's frustrating to have a dining experience where more things were off point than on. read more

I took a friend to introduce them to Stearman's for the first time. While Stearman's is a family favorite, my friend lives out west and has never had the pleasure to experience the atmosphere. I use to tell everyone that you go there for the atmosphere and drinks but I am excited to say the change in management has me now I'm craving my favorite dishes. My friend and I were lucky to have Gavin waiting on us hand and foot. He not only knew the menu, he was personable and even funny. Super great hire; good job, Stearman! read more

I've been coming here off and on for years . Really since they first opened and although they have made amazing improvements to the facility they have let the quality of food decline considerably. Stearman Field Bar & Grill is a wonderful concept - a fly-in restaurant. Very well decorated and replete with aviation-themed art and decor, it scratches the itch for any pilot enthusiast. The food is good, I cannot deny that. I opted for the Mushroom Swiss Burger and found it delectable. Also, the pretzel sticks appetizer is quite good. The service, however, is ABYSMAL. I come from a family of military pilots and really thought my retired-airline/retired military pilot father would like this place. He loved the environment. However, the service was so bad, we had to have a manager intervene. Wanting to give this place another shot, I took him there again, several months later. The service was actually WORSE. He asked our waiter what came with a menu item and the waiter actually responded, "I don't really know; whatever it says it comes with on the menu." Uh-oh. It only went downhill from there. Had to repeatedly ask for drink refills amd more ice. We ordered another round of appetizers that never came. We ordered salads that never came. We were served our food TWO (2) hours after arriving. We couldn't take it anymore and explained our frustration to the manager, who then gave us two $25 gift cards. We will not be using them. Ever again. What a waste of ambiance and a great theme. If only their service could match it, this place would be incredible. read more
