Business was not booming on Friday evening. I can understand why. Jacob, the manager, is rude to customers. They aren't coming back!

I'm from out of town and miss Steak n Shake. Went for dinner and was extremely disappointed. I ordered at the kiosk and paid $12.02 for a single hamburger, cheese fries, cup of chili, and a soft drink. There were only about 3 tables with people seated. 80% of the tables were dirty. My food came out in good time. They call your name, and you pick it up. No employees in sight when I picked up. I didn't received crackers for my chili. I waited, no one came. I decided to go back up for crackers later. I ate my burger and fries, and headed back up for crackers. No one around. I waited again, and waited, and waited. I called for the people in the back room. No response. Finally I decided to take 2 steps toward the back room door, which was slightly behind the counter. A manger, named Jacob, immediately reprimanded me for being behind the counter. I asked for crackers. He said, we'll get them and headed back to the back room. I told him I had been back twice, didn't get crackers when I got my food because there was no one to ask. He again said, we'll get to them. At this point I was done with this man. I asked for a refund for my chili since I couldn't get crackers. He stepped back out of the back room, reached into a container under the counter and gave me the crackers and then said, "when you leave today, don't ever come back." Im a 66 year old lady, who for the first time ever, have been thrown out of a restaurant! There was another party who had just gotten seated and saw this happen. The lady was outraged and said she'd never be back either. This manager, Jacob, was very rude, not customer friendly, and I can see why the place was dead on a Friday evening at 7:30pm. Very poor customer service. Good radiance to Steak n Shake in East Peoria, IL. Jacob needed to take a course in customer service and common courtesy.

I wish I could give this place a review lower than 1 star. The bathrooms were disgusting, the tiles and ground were turning black. The staff have no positive attitudes, one of the girls gave attitude when asked to wipe a table and a guy was yelling "damn it" in the back and getting frustrated. You have to order through the kiosk and the whole place looks filthy. The adult combos are basically the same size as the kids combos. We got our kids shake and one of them was served with a low amount of shake and the table wasn't wiped down, shown from the picture. Paid extra for the 99 cent grilled onion but was disappointed since it's cold and grimy. Took off all the veggies from the burger since they were gross and not fresh. The grill looked nasty and everything was disorganized. One soda machine side wasn't allowed to be used and you had to scan a QR code for even fill your cup. The exterior of the restaurant was disgusting and clearly doesn't have attention put towards it. Very disappointed!

Me and my family went up here for dinner today. Disappointed is an understatement. Well I'm already disappointed with steak n shake as a whole for removing my favorite burger off the menu. First it was the jamaican jerk but now the jalapeño crunch is gone too ‍ well we get there, my grandpa orders a salad which is shown on their menu online. They tell us they don't serve salads anymore. Well take it off the menu then! I ordered a butter burger with swiss cheese instead of american and they gave me a sandwich with no cheese at all. When we drove back around they took my sandwich, and picked it apart with their bare hands to tell me it did have cheese I just had to look between the buns. As you can see there was no cheese on my sandwich. And then they just gave it back to me which by this point it's cold now so I had to reheat it to even eat it. I asked if they could put some steak n shake seasoning on my fries (since they conveniently quit selling seasoned fries too) and they tell me they don't serve that anymore. what do you serve? i'm super upset with steak n shake overall for constantly ruining the menu but this location in particular I don't think I'll be going back to

Review Visit: October 29th, 2012…read more Chick-fil-A will Chick-fil-you-up. Living in the Central Illinois area, Chick-fil-a was only available via commercials and advertisements (or long drives). Luckily, the day came where the one in Peoria was built and opened it's doors to customers. Erin, Matt and I stopped in after a day exploring Bloomington-Normal and we were famished. It was a first for all of us and we were excited to try out the place that has rave reviews and good word-of-mouth. We luckily got to Chick-fil-a when there wasn't a long line in the drive thru or a packed lobby. Busy, yes, but not uncomfortably so. This place was swamped with people for months after it opened. We must've gotten extremely luckily with our timing. In the years since this visit, I still remember how incredible delicious the food here is. I don't remember what we all ordered but we all loved with what we got. That I do remember. The chicken sandwich was just what I needed after dragging my friend and girlfriend around Bloomington-Normal for the afternoon. I ended up coming back in 2018 with another friend who never had it and it was every bit as delicious as it was back in late-2012. I typically keep my reviews of nationwide chains short (barring some crazy story to share) due to many factors and this one is no exception. All there is to say about Chick-fil-a is that it is incredibly delicious chicken at a decent price. My only critique is that it leaves you wanting more after you finish your meal. Its that good.

Review Visit: September 14th, 2014…read more Thems some dang good biscuits. After exploring the The Nina and The Pinta boats that were anchored in Peoria, we needed some grub. I asked my dad if he had any specific place he wanted to try. He said he did not. I asked if he wanted to check out Popeye's and that's where we ended up going. It was a new eating experience for us both as Popeye's have just started to pop up in Central Illinois. I typically don't review big chains but I make the exception if they are new to the area. Popeye's is a fast food chicken slinging place. You order your food at the counter and either get it to go or dine in. We opted to dine in as we had the afternoon free. Plus, dining in is part of the experience. We both stuck with a standard combo since we didn't know what to expect. Our combos were fairly basic: chicken, fries, and sides. I opted for some coleslaw and a biscuit to accompany my main food. The place was a bit busy and we did end up waiting awhile for our food to come out. Frying chicken has to take a bit longer to cook than your usual fast food offerings. The wait was to be expected as the restaurant was new and still had that busyness to it that comes with any new place that opens. At long last, our food came out and it looked tasty and smelled delicious. It was about the halfway point through our meal that we broke the silence and said the same thing. This wasn't really worth it. Its not to say the food was awful. Its just that everything tasted so... bland? The chicken tasted like nothing despite the breading. There was a definite lack of spices in the batter or something like that. The french fries were alright, if not a bit soggy for my tastes. Again, that is just a personal preference on the fries. The coleslaw was forgettable but I feel that way about coleslaw in general. Its a side dish I like but not one I ever crave. Again, personal preference there. So, was any of this meal good? Yes. The biscuit of all things. Somehow that biscuit, despite being a bit dry as biscuits usually are, packed a ton of flavor in the puck-shaped baked goodness. I'm not a biscuit lover by any means but this place had me reconsidering that. The thing was just dripping (metaphorically) in butter-y flavor. I strongly debated getting one to go until I saw the line at the counter. We did finish the meal and sat there a little bit longer as we let the food settle. While we sat there, we discussed the cool ships we saw earlier in the afternoon and made some small talk about the lack of enthusiasm we had for our meal. We left and that was our experience. But was that my only experience with Popeye's? Nope. Going a bit off the usual path, I have been back many times with my friend Tim. He loves this place and will pick it as a lunch spot when we hang out. My experience with Popeye's has stayed pretty much the same since my first visit. Their food is just okay with the exception of two things. Their biscuits are my weakness and their new chicken sandwich, in my opinionated opinion, was awesome. I did eventually try it after the hype wore off and it was no longer a matter of life and death trying to order it. That chicken sandwich was seriously one of my favorites. The staff at the Popeye's Tim and I visit (we've visited multiple) do leave a lot to be desired. Each time we've gone, we've gotten less than the bare minimum effort from those working. It seems like none of them want to be there and doing their job is a painful process. We've never had an issue with our food but it does sully the experience when it feels like you are the biggest inconvenience in the world. The last two paragraphs don't factor in to my score but it is something to keep in mind if you are wanting to try Popeye's. I would revise the score to a 2 based on the poor customer service we receive when we go. No amount of love for their biscuits or the chicken sandwich can excuse the attitudes from the staff.
