If I could give negative stars, I would. I don't often write poor reviews, I try to keep it positive, but I think corporate needs to get involved here or shut it down because people are going to get sick outside of a terrible dinning experience. It was just before 4:00 pm and there was a line around the entire building, not moving, which is why we went inside and the madness began. We ordered one small milkshake and paid the manager. I quickly noticed drama going on behind the counter with the manager and employees. We stepped aside to wait and although it was not busy... customers stood around waiting to be seated and to pay, and they waited so long the lines started to grow, all while staff stood around and either talked or did nothing. It was blatant. The manager stepped up to the cash register again to cash out a customer and then was abruptly and loudly rude and very unprofessional to an employee while in front of customers. Obviously something was going on, and we all have bad days at work but this was uncomfortable for the people who couldn't miss the drama, being they were waiting to be helped. The manager then stormed off, not helping other customers waiting. I continued to wait for a small milkshake. There was easily 3-4 employees, that I could see, possibly more in the back, standing around while customers waited to be sat, waited to be cashed out, waited on food, food sat in the window to be delivered and no one raised a finger to include the manager. Then a whole group of employees came out from the back, possibly a meeting ended, and they all stood around too! It's was jaw dropping. About then, a customer came over to me to say the milkshakes were taking a very long time and he couldn't even pay. Then I watched a customer storm out and yell as he walked out the door yelling something t about Steak n Shake. I also waited long enough to notice how filthy it was everywhere I looked which made me question sanitation and the safety of the food. About 2O mins into our wait, I walked over to the service window and asked a staff member to please check if one of the shakes could be mine. She didn't check a ticket, she handed it to me and once I took a drink of it, it was the wrong milkshake. I left. That was enough Twilight Zone. I would never eat here after seeing the commotion today. Between the unprofessional manager and the slew of Un-engaged staff... hey Steak n Shake... you get what you pay for! You pay people poorly and you create low morale which equals sub par to no service, zero work ethics, no leaders, a dirty filthy dinning space and a horrible overall experience which means a drop in repeat customers. Where is the pride in ownership? What happened to corporate expectations and guidelines being this is a chain restaurant? I won't be back. This site needs a major overhaul or to be shut down to bring in a place that cares about business, it's customers, their employees and the opportunity they have with its prime real estate location. Across the aisle and several booths to the left, sat two ladies, one of the pair seemed to have a walking challenge. As they ate, they appeared happy with the service and the cuisine which are the chain's well-known commodities. Just today...just today, Sit back, relax, take it all in at a "Steak and Shake." I walked into the restaurant only because the drive thru was not working and I think it was a Godsend. However, I didn't get the message. What I saw was a cook who commented on someone not dressing the burgers after she made them and a waitress saying it's not their job to do so. Raw burger meat out even after the cook disappeared, hot dogs, burger meat, cheese, on a cart that needed refrigeration. Buns on top of burger meat. EWWW Cross contamination. Matter of fact, my daughter said why are they leaving raw food out and why are they letting people in the restaurant work there if they are doing this to the food. Customers were getting very upset, etc... the list goes on and on. I waited for my Garlic burger with fried onions, lettuce and tomato: 20 minutes. What I also saw was no manager around, a messy dining room area, and no cook. They were in the back. When I asked for my money back, the manager said because I had used my mobile app to purchase the burger, I had to get the refund from them. So as I'm in the restaurant dialing the number and about to speak to cust serv, the cook came out of nowhere and said she would make me the burger. I asked her would it be fresh? She said she would personally make it for me.I asked her, "with fries"? she said yes. I then agreed. OK, this is when I should have said no just give me my money back. But no, I was hungry(my hunger overrode my thinking). So, I get outside in the parking lot and proceed to eat it, very delicious. I got home and was so sick, had to deal with mild food poisoning. I am letting the health dept know this about them. There should be no reason why this should have happened. Bad customer service and no idea on how to store food correctly. read more

While I do hate waiting in the drive thru line for my order, the food Steak 'n Shake puts out is typically worth the wait. I don't mind a little delay when I know they're cooking my food to order rather than bagging up pre-made burgers from under a heating lamp. I grew up loving Steak 'n Shake. At the time, they were only located off of interstates so it was a treat to get a steakburger, shake, and shoestring french fries. The service was always excellent and the food was fresh. This particular location doesn't embody that legend. The servers are nice but always seem stressed out and short staffed. If they forget a straw, napkin or you need something extra, be prepared to wait a while. The food is mediocre at best and seems haphazardly prepared. The restrooms could use a total remodel. Over all, I think I will satisfy my SnS cravings at a different location....at least until this one gets new management. read more

I love the idea of cheap food but they can't seem to get anything right here. Milk shake with no whip cream ends up with whip cream. Fries forgot seasoning. Ketchup on my table empty table next to me is empty. I am roaming around looking for napkins. Finally ask someone to get me some napkins and she returns with 2 tiny napkins. How do I wipe the mayonnaise off my burger that is not supposed to even be there? This location. Needs some serious management changes and cooks to wake up. My food was greasy almost all of the paper on my grilled chicken was grease. The fries had absolutely 0 salty and were under cooked. Finally my shake had the cap on only half way so when it came to my possession it spilled all over my car. One last thing they forgot 2 orders of fries and two sodas horrible service.
