By far the best Steak 'n Shake we have ever been in. The restaurant is clean and well lit. The staff is friendly and struck up a conversation with us while we were ordering and welcomed us to the area (we just moved here). When out food initially came out I was explaining to my husband how hard it was going to be to eat with all the bbq sauce on it. The manager heard me and remade my burger for me and brought it to my table with an apology. He was more than accommodating and very personable! The food was good and fresh. A lot of Steak N Shakes are closing down. We were excited to go to one before our flight. Everything is self-serve. You must input your order into a kiosk, pick up your food when they call your name, and fill your sodas. The kiosk isn't up to date. No way to edit your order to add or remove stuff you don't want. My husband was able to ask for ketchup with his fries but the kiosk doesn't separate it on the receipt. His grilled cheese that wasn't melted came out with ketchup on it. The cook wanted to argue but decided to just make a new one. My husband ordered large fries. In the end, he ended up with fewer fries than what comes on a child's order. While sitting eating the lady that greets everyone was arguing with someone that wanted to pay cash. read more

Just really greasy beef, cheese, onions and noodles. After waiting 25 minutes to get this we weren't about to try for a redo. There's about a tablespoon of grease left in this bowl where no one strainer the meat. Bags of garbage sitting around in the restaurant where no one took them out- just changed the van and left them. I scannes the menu for a while, knowing all along I'd end up going with the classic double steakburger with fries. And it certainly didn't disappoint. One thing I forgot about Steak and Shake is how quick the service is. It couldn't have been more than 5 minutes until my order arrived. The burger was perfectly juicy with the American cheese beautifully melted. The fries had a nice crisp. Overall, it was perfect for satisfying my craving without making me feel stuffed or gross. The Steak n Shake in Clarksville has some major issues, starting with seating guests. You can actually stand at the door for awhile before someone greets you. I do not know how it is possible to serve good food, but they do. I know you are thinking it's Steak n Shake what do you expect? Perhaps a clean table or a floor that's not dirty? Do not go into the rest room, you've been forewarned. I know these kids work hard and it's busy, but that's not a guests problem. When you open the door to provide service that's what is expected. I could care less if you are short staffed or the kitchen is running behind. This has been an ongoing problem for quite some time. I think personally it's the management. I have always felt you get what you pay for. Whenever we decide to go to Steak and Shake, I am ready for pretty much whatever happens. The food is inexpensive and fairly tasty. However service is up and down, unfortunately more down than up. Today service was terrible from start to finish. We were seated as soon as we got there. We were given menus and everything pretty much stopped there. Once we were able to order, the food came out relatively quick. BUT, I had subbed a cup of chili for my fries which is a .59 cent upcharge. The chili was not served with my burger and our server said it would be right out. Well, I finished my burger, ate some of my wife's fries, finished my Coke, and still didn't have my chili. I tried more than once while I was eating my burger to get our server's attention, to no avail. Finally, our server started waiting on a table behind us and as she went flying by I tackled her. Of course I'm joking, I only had to put her in a hammerlock! Ha ha. I did finally get her to stop at our table and explained I never received my side of chili. I also asked for drink refills for both of us as my glass had been sitting empty for most of my meal. She apologized and said she would get it. Well she did get the chili, but no drink refills. Finally about 5 minutes after I received my chili, we did get our drink refills. Normally, I would never go back to a restaurant where the service is so pitiful. BUT then I went up to pay the check and told myself; What do you expect when you're paying a few bucks for a meal? And so it goes. One of the best things about Steak 'n Shake is you always know what you're getting. One of the worst is how dirty they almost always are, and unfortunately, this location is no exception. The waitresses here are usually on point and the food is always hot and fresh, delivered quickly. The restaurant is covered in a greasy film, likely due to the open kitchen, which makes it a not so pleasant place to dine. The shakes here are great and I love that I can lunch with my kids here for under $20 and we all leave full! So first off your website says open until 12 am. need to change that. Came thru at 10:49 pm and there's a line and your lights are on and you rudely tell me that you close at 10. Tell me that you close early due to staffing but you going to let people sit in the drive thru when you are clearly there and not tell them that. Now to be honest Steak 'n Shake in general and this location have had numerous issues for years but recently the Louisville metropolitan area has lost several locations. The burgers are greasy but it's what makes them delicious. Every bite is like getting the flavor from a sirloin. The thin crisp patties provide more beef taste than just about any burger you can buy. Also don't forget the $4 meals. Anything like that from other burger places just can't compare. Today was my birthday and they sent me a free double and fries. Even though they were busy I got through the drive through in less than 5 minutes. It was fast and friendly but I would have like more than 3 ketchup. So, we were in the mood for Steak 'n Shake. It took forever for us to be seated. The restaurant was busy but there was a sea of empty but dirty tables just begging for someone to bus them. Alas, no one. We waited and waited and waited to be seated. After we were seated the server came over and took our order. And.... We waited and waited and waited. I had a bowl of chili and that was fairly prompt. It was very lukewarm but the server was nowhere to be found so I ate it. My wife ordered a shake. And we waited and waited and waited. People came in after us and their food showed up. Finally our food came. Of course, AFTER I asked. And, of course, it was our server at the cash register when we were paying. It took her forever to cash people out. She claimed ignorance as to why our order took so long.
