25 April 2026 I went to Steak & Shake today to buy a steak burger ... My first time at this Place and the first time in years that I visited a Steak & Shake. I was surprised upon entry to see a sign directing me to a machine to place my order. Fine. I touched the screen and searched for steak burgers. A complete menu of various steak burgers popped up on the screen and I had to peruse the entire screen searching for my steak burger with bacon , cheese , yadda yadda yadda. After accomplishing that feat I attempted to order a side of french fries. I punched the symbol for fries several times as my selection did not activate the machine into compliance. Oh well, looks like no fries today fatty boy. I'm on a diet anyway, can't ya just tell . So no fries fatty paid the machine and my change popped out. I waited and waited but no order delivered. People ahead of me and behind me received their orders. But not me. Finally after a gentle inquiry I was informed my order would arrive shortly. And so it did, minus the fries which the machine refused to give me. ( I think the machine knew I was dieting and wanted to help me out .) Boy , I sure do miss the human connection, the eye contact , the smile , the welcoming tone to the voice of the employee, who was now replaced by a cold machine. Harraumph ! In an endeavor to save money by replacing a human employee with a machine , Steak & Shake lost my money because after this experience I will be going to Burger King . If I'm going to spend my money let it be with human interaction, not with a lifeless machine. Harraumph I say , Harraumph ! read more

Steak ’n Shake - My Steak & Shake Steakburger. - Fast Food Near Me - Cape Coral, Florida

The BBQ Bacon Burger is my go-to at Steak n Shake! I wasn't a huge fan of the chili cheese fries, the chili was pretty flavorless but the cheese fries are good! The new tots aren't bad but they aren't anything to rave about. My main argument with eating here is the inconsistency is the amount of cheese they give you for the cheese fries. It's either barely enough and they make you pay for more or it's more than enough and they don't charge extra. read more

Steak ’n Shake - The BBQ Bacon Burger is my go-to at Steak n Shake! - Fast Food Near Me - Cape Coral, Florida

Had not been there in a while because their service is less than stellar. Actually, if you go inside you must use a machine and you must tip very generously (who am I tipping, no human contact?) if you want food. So no service except self-service. Who are you striving to be; Walmart? Zero ambiance, 100% self serve and if you can not figure out what to do you are SOL! So I got a "we miss you" come an get a free milk of your choice (after 4PM), placed an online order with the free shake and was charged full price for the orange dreamsicle shake. With a tiny bit of effort you could be great, but now you are the same as a year ago, slightly less than mediocre. read more

This store was ok a few months ago but today 8-29-25 it was amazing. I ordered on the app in the parking lot to pickup inside and eat there. I was greeted by a gentleman that appeared to be a manager. He said hello with a smile. I told him I had a mobile order and he asked my name. After telling him, he brought me my drink while I waited. When the food came out, a female brought it to me with a bigger smile than the manager! I felt special. The restaurant and drive through were busy when I arrived, but they still had time to greet me before the door closed behind me, with a smile! Where do you get that? And oh ya, my burger, onion rings and DC were great too. I hope they keep it up, I'll be back. read more

i used to come here after school pretty often and i've never had a bad experience. The inside is clean and the food is reasonably priced. I visited with my friend today to get the fourth of july drink and it was beautifully presented and we were greeted kindly by staff. read more

Wife and I went in for lunch. Not too familiar with their menu. We were greeted warmly, asked it we needed help with using their menu, and found it easy. Ordered, took a seat while waiting, and order came out fairly quickly. Everything fresh and tasty. Burger and fries for both along with Milkshakes. (Splurged). Restaurant was clean, kept clean meaning saw people sweeping under tables which is unusual these days in most establishments. Staff wore uniforms and gloves, worked together as a team, and was diligent. Great experience. read more

Back in Cape C again and drove through. Ordered a couple of burgers and fries, which were great, a couple of shakes (also delicious), but the onion rings were raw and stuck together. Not sure I understand how that happens, but could only eat one or two of the entire large batch. Since I never eat inside anymore, I ate it on my way back to the Hotel, so didn't take it back. Probably should've. The fries also were great. Will get O-rings at Culver's in the future and fries at Steak n' Shake. read more

The service was good, our server read back our order quickly and diligently without missing a beat. She did a great job even when we added and changed our order twice. The "new" Old fashioned Butter Burger was amazing. We split our burger in three since everyone wanted a taste. The drive though was quick and we got our order in a timely manner. The ambiance at each steak and shake is always the same, old fashioned and full of great memories! Would always recommend the Garlic Burger 10/10! I love steak 'n Shake, but I would not recommend this location I ordered Uber eats I paid for three different cheese sauces and I also paid for my combo meal. My fries were about a quarter of the way full. My order didn't come with any of my cheese, sauces and to top it all off my burger was flipped upside down and thrown in my box and it was the workers because my bag was taped and was not tampered with by my Dasher. Tried to call three times they obviously don't know how to answer the phone. read more

Hamburgers are way too thin and tasteless. Kiosk is confusing and had to pay for sauce and i could not find out howbto order just a burger alone all came with fries. No sauce comes on burger. Hamburger Buns were dried out. Greasy smelling place. Guy helped us scan a receipt for drinks cause it locks up after. The employee breath smelled like marijuana. Disappointed with this place. read more

The food itself is pretty good, but the wait time is extremely unreasonable. I came in ordered two things and sat down around 7 people came in after me ordered at least 4+ things and everyone of them got their orders before me. Took around 50 minutes before a stranger noticed i had been waiting so long and asked them to check on my order for me. I did see one girl working extremely hard though wish i had got her name. the overall environment was good and quiet. read more

Haven't been to a Steak N Shake for a long time, you order at a kiosk whether you're dining in or carrying out. I had the double steak burger & hub had the garlic butter steak burger, both were soooooo good. The thin crispy fries were hot & yummy, will definitely return. read more

1 star cause you made my door dasher go back and finish the order! GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!!

They always serve great food. The frosted glass for the shakes moves it far above average. Now they added tallow cooked fries!!! The only way French fries should be made!! Incredible!! read more

A good place to grab a light snack with my elderly dad. He enjoys a chili dog with the crispy shoestring fries and cold sweet tea. He prefers his iced tea with lemon but to no avail. Also, no waiters anymore so U have to order at the cash and credit machine then take your receipt and wait for them to call your number. You have to ask for ketchup if u want it and they give u packets. All in all it was okay. The sweet tea wasn't that sweet but they did have sugar packets. My hotdog was good and the shoestring French fries were very good, crisp and not greasy. Dad enjoyed his chili dog and fries also. He was just missing his lemon wedge with his not-so sweet tea. read more

The food is amazing. Well - it's the garlic bun. It feels like a heart attack in the wait every time I eat one of those burgers - but they blow every other fast food burger OUT OF THE WATER!! Love love love!! read more

So service here is absolutely rude and disrespectful to paying customers (1) paid for ranch sauces then cook comes out we're out of ranch at 12 noon with barley another customers sight well ok then (2) I said to cook when he popped back out can I try a few fresco sauce instead he says I told them you want your change back for them ok then never mind (3) now here is the problem I hear 2 employees talking about me regarding how I don't pay for the ranch I said excuse me I did pay for all ranch 1 without the meal .40 cents and 3 others with the meals so yea I paid for all them then she says to me I wasn't talking about you I said yes you are and I have proof of what I paid for and that I didn't care about the change for goodness sake I had to wipe off my table the seats the whole store floor sticky read more

Steak ’n Shake - Busy place - Fast Food Near Me - Cape Coral, Florida

Steak'n Shake, Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is chatter and my 2 cents on the food. Chit chat...When I was in high school Steak'n Shake was the chic place to go for a date. It had waitresses, it was expensive and had good burgers. I never ed liked the thin french fries. Now it is one of the cheapest burger joints with so-so servers. I came here to get my free birthday milk shake. Its never free. you buy something to get it. I got the very strawberry shake. Pretty good. I order the REALLY big cola. About 32 ounces for a buck, see pic. I tried the chili for the first time. Just mediocre and plain. The onion rings. OKay. A double cheese burger with those awful thin fries...$4....The burger taste like all the other fast food joints except maybe *urger King. What going for them is they are cheaper than all the others...plus you can get loads of coupons for variation of the burgers. I know from intuition the servers must be paid squat. When I left a tip the were excited. So if you are on the cheap this is a good place to go. read more

i've never had steak 'n shake before, tried it tonight for delivery, 2 doubles, one for dinner and one for lunch tomorrow ... this was the best burger i've had and just what i was craving, i got the basic double cheeseburger, and the double bacon cheeseburger with mayo and lettuce, and large fries. i don't think the second burger will last the night, these things are so darn good. doordash was really fast, the food was great, and i'm a happy customer. never eating mcdonald's again! read more

They must've improved because I've had great service both times. Maybe the trick is to go late at night...

I went to Pine Island steak 'n Shake March 29 around 8 o'clock at nightOrderEd the number seven double burger with fries and a burger taste like it was five days old disgusting I almost threw up these people better have to start selling fresh meat not that garbage Threw it in the garbage try to call them to let them know and they never picked up the phone I don't think I'll go there again read more

Of 3 meals they got 1 right. Fries have changed. Must order from computer. Not user friendly. Will never return.

Understaffed fast food joint. I honestly feel horrible for these overworked employees. Must be the worst place to work in Lee County. As a result of poor management, it takes forever for you to get your food. Also by the time you get it, your shakes are melted and your fries are cold. read more

Worst experience ever... Never again! I've had some less than satisfactory visits to this restaurant in the past but today was the final straw. I felt like a milkshake so I slid into their drive through on my way past. Didn't look busy as only 3 cars in the drive through. Well first they ask me to wait to place my order at the speaker. A good 5 minutes passes before a voice finally comes back and takes my order for 1 milkshake. I then proceed to sit behind two other cars as we wait to "process" past the takeout window. Each of us has our money taken... but no food... we are slowly told to move ahead and "wait". It takes me a full 15 minutes to get to the window and pay for my drink... then another 5+ minutes sitting in the lane-way waiting for my drink. Almost a half an hour from when I started this fiasco the girl comes outside and tells me they are out of the syrup for my milkshake. I'm obviously angry and tell her I want my money back since they can't supply the item they sold me and she tells me to pull out of the way and she'll come back. This makes me angrier. Why should I be put aside to wait longer yet others who came after me are not inconvenienced? So I pull ahead, park my car and go inside... where I see the young lady NOT getting my refund but processing someone else's drink order. After standing at the counter trying to get someone to pay attention to me I finally wave someone down and demand that I speak to the manager. A gentleman who said he was the manager "apologized" and agreed that it was "unacceptable" that the young girl was processing someone else's order instead of getting me my refund. No explanation how I was made to wait over 1/2 an hour before being told my order couldn't be filled... or why my refund wasn't high enough priority to be processed before other orders who came after me. When I asked for his name he only gave me "Mike"... and it want until I insisted for his last name that he finally properly identified himself. I'll never step foot in Steak & Shake again! Just to add... when I went inside there was another customer impatiently trying to get someone to take his take order... I'm sorry to say I beat him to forcing someone to respond to me... but when he saw what I was going through, he turned and walked out. This place SUCKS! read more

Well if they haven't already pissed you off by being rude to you and messing up your order this might change your mind this is the final time We will be going back As our waitress took our order she got out a broom and wet mop and started cleaning when she seen our food was ready she stopped cleaning and picked up our plates of food with out WASHING her hands first and brought them to our table , after complaining the Manager Mike he said it's a common practice and when I said I wasn't paying for that slop he still gave us a bill I told him I'm calling the Health Department his response was they know how we clean , Nasty But after calling the Health Department they might want to expect a visitor read more

We received a $40 gift card for steak and shake so we decided to stop in. The restaurant was less than half full and yet we waited probably about two or three minutes before the hostess even acknowledged us. After we sat down, it took about another seven minutes for a waitress to come acknowledge us. The restaurant is not very clean. You can tell just by looking at the floors. But once the waitress came to take our order, the food arrived somewhat quickly. I had the Royal burger and my wife had a salad and the Wisconsin butter burger. Both were fantastic. Our children ate free meals because they have a "kids eat free all weekend long" promotion which was pretty cool. But you have to spend over nine dollars per adult. For five of us, our ticket only came out to $30. Pretty good deal if you ask me. We gave the waitress a $10 tip and were on our way. read more

I've raised my rating one notch. Why? Is it because the service has improved? Well, no, it hasn't actually. It's because the food is good. I like the burgers, the crispy thin fries, and their shakes are some of the best. I was there recently and ordered three full meals, including shakes. They messed up two out of the three orders. Sadly the manager of this location is not doing a good job. Bad service makes you lose money. It's actually a testament to the food because otherwise this place wouldn't survive. People apparently tolerate the horrific management because they like the food. I'm guilty as well. I swear I wouldn't go back, but I still do. Imagine having a product so good you can fail on service and people still come. Now, imagine if you had good service. Wow. The owner of this franchise location would do so well that he would be buying another! read more

When I did my Yelp check-in I almost panicked when I read the negative reviews about this establishment... I was hoping they were all wrong, but how could they be? Then I just hoped I'd catch them on a good day. The food was very good, my order was correct, but they missed the "no onions" modification to my wife's order... easily remedied. She had the Western BBQ & Bacon Steakburger, I had the Frisco Melt... very tasty. The staff was attentive and nice, and timing was good. Prices were fine, I liked it here. read more

Had the old app was never happy with it or the service but then there was a new manager and it was better for a while. Then My husband wanted to eat there and I had to load their new app. It transferred my points. Use to be when you used the app it deducted from my card. I had only 4 points to get my rewards. I put money on a gift card in the app. It told me I had added it ok. Then we ate and I went to use my app. It would not say I had credit. It wanted me to reload. So I paid cash and I asked the manager about the app as the employees told me I could talk to about it. She looked at me and said its your internet you figure it out. Then a normal worker said many people had had trouble and was unable to use their app to pay already loaded money. Well I got home and it said I needed 40:points till reward when I only needed 4 more. So where did my money go. I tried to reach the company and couldn't. Don't use the app you will be disappointed. Then don't ask the manager unless you want a smart answer. Like you figure it out. Oh yes we got no forks or knifes. Asked for napkins. My daughter ordered steak burger with the works and mayo. It came plain, no mayo. We had to flag the waitress down. For all those things. They just throw things down and walk off. Don't check on you either. My daughters food was getting cold by the time my daughter got the things she did not get. We got 4 for 4 and had to ask for our cookies cause she already left the bill and couldn't get the waitress. Wow what a crazy night. Not worth the trip. I want my money back. I had an email to use my app for a milkshake. Right well if the app worked! Then manager needs to learn to be polite to customers. She could had said what the employee told me and that would have been better. Being rude to me when I could not use my loaded money was uncalled for. read more

In the two times I've been in to pick up a carryout order for my boyfriend, I've been unimpressed with the customer service/lack of courtesy of employees, as well as the cleanliness of both the dining area and restroom. Yet, the food is good and it's always crowded, which might be a testament to its pros (albeit the latter might be a "con" depending on your preferences). I just came in tonight and there wasn't a long wait in front of the register (one patron), yet it took quite awhile to place my order, as the manager, a blonde man in his 30s, was fooling around with one of the employees at the front register. Two adult men. I stood there, awkwardly, for about a minute before I was even acknowledged (after asking whether I could place an order, lol). I ordered a pretty basic "two single burgers with everything"--but the manager rung them up as doubles and tried to charge me considerably more. Probably an honest mistake, but had he not been goofing off with the other employee, it probably could've been avoided. To make it more awkward, there was an off-duty employee sitting next to the register on the patron side, half in uniform, STARING at me the whole time, especially when I first walked in. It was very weird and I still have no idea what that was about. I know that it's "just Steak n Shake"...but it was unwelcoming and kinda bizarre. Next, the restroom. I have an unofficial "rule" about this I've learned from friends who are cooks: never eat at a restaurant that has a dirty restroom, as the kitchen is most likely kept the same/cleaned (or not) about as often. Well, let me say I wouldn't have eaten here if Cape Coral were the desert and I had been crawling through it looking for food and water for upwards of a week. Yuck! Dried-up feces splattered all over the backs of both toilets. I ended up just grabbing my SO's food and peacing out of there. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more
