I ordered the blueberry pancakes with Michigan blueberries. Safe bet right? Wrong, the blueberries were kind of dry and chewy. I have two theories. One is that they were reconstituted dried or they had been retrieved from the back of the fridge after a bit too long. Either way I was really put off by them. The prices are high for the quality of the food. There aren't many restaurants nearby. Oh well the locals seem to like the place. read more

Excellent food & staff. It has been a full house every time I have eaten there (now 4). There is a longer wait for the food, due to hungry occupied seats, but the staff make sure the coffee keeps flowing at all times. Highly recommend! read more

I'm curious why so many negative reviews, although I've only eaten breakfast here. Every time we fly in and fish with Kyle Buck of Great Lakes Guide Service we come here before hitting the water to catch steelhead and honestly it's always been good for breakfast and reasonably priced. We've been a half-dozen times in the last two years and the service has always been good. This place blows away Denny, IHOP, Bob Evans, etc, so would people rate those a zero? read more

Avoid the sausage gravy. I don't know what kind of can it comes out of, but you'll need the biscuit to get the gravy down. Otherwise, a lot of other good offerings. Decent for this level and type of restaurant, and service is always exceptional. read more

Usually we come here for breakfast during the breakfast hours and have no problems, but today we came in about an hour before they closed. We decided to order simple breakfast items: Belgian waffle with over easy eggs, blueberry pancakes, and a kids French toast. I guess that was just enough to upset the cooks who were already hot to leave for the day. The over easy eggs oozed clear liquid the moment they were touched, obviously undercooked. The pancakes had liquid batter that hadn't cooked yet around the blueberries in both of the pancakes. We told our waitress about the state of the food and told her to just take it away, that we weren't looking to cause any fuss over it. Our waitress took the two items back to the cooks who then proceeded to tell her that we were just trying to get a free meal and then laughed heartily at our expense (I know this because they have a partially open kitchen and I have ears). Instead of any kind of apology or acknowledgement of wrongdoing, she came back with a check that had every item discounted 10% from a rewards program they have that we don't belong to. I guess we should be grateful for what we did get: a waitress who couldn't care less and cooks who pushed raw food even they wouldn't eat out of the kitchen for others to consume. All in the name of going home early on a Thursday... Needless to say, I won't be going back, especially if this is the standard of quality and behavior of the staff accepted by management and the owners. read more

I ordered eggs over medium. They arrived with even the whites under cooked. I told the waitress that they were at best over easy and I was going to send them back. She began lecturing me about how over medium eggs are cooked. My husband told her they were not cooked over medium. (Ex military cook) He said the whites were not even done. She completely ignored him. Because she was making a scene, I refused another plate and more eggs. I just tried to wave her off and said no. She began ranting about how wasteful that was, while other customers looked on. My husband ate his breakfast. She returned, and refilled my coffee cup. I did not say anything, and my husband was trying to hurry. She got a few feet from the table and yelled out, "yeah you're welcome," very nasty. Again, I said nothing. She did not receive the 20% tip that I normally leave. She continued to badger me all the way out the door, yelling out, "well let's hope your day gets better," again as nasty as she could, and again while customers looked on. I have never in my 60 years seen anything like it. I ignored her repeated attempts to engage me and continue to make a public scene, by staying silent. While it appeared that the other waitresses were polite and courteous to customers, I will never return to the restaurant. The bottom line is that the waitress was mentally ill, and the eggs were raw. LPS read more

Im not a regular but I try to come once a month because I enjoy it. I only eat breakfast when I come but the food is good and so is the service. Its also very busy usually so you might have to wait for a seat often. read more

My first (and last) time visiting here. I don't frequent N. Muskegon often and was encouraged to 'try' this place. Sorry I did. They had a 'special' called Great Lakes Reuben. Don't be fooled by the name. There is NOTHING 'Reuben' about this sandwich. It is a fish sandwich (with cheese & coleslaw) on rye bread. We were under the impression is was a Reuben with 2 pieces of fish. That is what we both understood and thought. I even requested mine to have the sauerkraut substituted for the coleslaw. Who knew. When it came and I questioned the sandwich, we were told they were 2 separate sandwiches. I was offered some meat to put on the sandwich, but declined due to MY misunderstanding. But then to be treated disrespectfully by being talked about at the counter. And then asking my guest if she wanted a re-fill on soda, but never asking me if I would like more lemonade. Wow. Maybe they don't refill lemonade, who knows! But I won't be finding out. read more

Went there today at about 12:15 and got seated right away. Ordered the food and it was not served until 1 hour later after I complained. The french fries were not cooked thru...raw in the middle. I asked to be comped for the meals as they came long after people that came in after we did were served and done eating. They said there was no manager on premises so they could not comp the meals but they credited our drinks...I had water!! I said that was not enough..she said because no manager was in the best she could do was a $5 gift certificate. We use to go all the time but the restaurant really down hill. Wow...we were so disappointed in our experience! We lived in West MI for years and came here every week. Since moving away, we try to come back when we're in town. We ordered our usual omelettes and were surprised to find a sad thin omelet stuffed with uncooked veggies and topped with a piece of regular American cheese that looked like someone just peeled it out of the plastic Kraft wrapper and threw it on. We used to love that these omelettes were huge, light and fluffy, but that is no longer the case. Both my husband and I didn't even eat half, but nothing was offered as an alternative and no apologies were made. It looks beautiful inside now, but no amount of remodeling can make up for bad food. I'm not paying for the atmosphere...I'm paying for a good meal. And this definitely missed the mark by far! read more

I've been enjoying breakfast at this restaurant since before it moved to its current location. The restaurant was known for its excellent omelets but no more. New owners have changed the menu and the food quality. The country fried steak and eggs used to have an excellent sausage gravy but now it has a pepper gravy that's way too spicy. It's a shame. We had a very good meal and coconut cream pie for dessert. Our server said she has worked here for over ten years. She was very friendly and the food was very good and freshly prepared. I especially liked the Belgian waffle with glazed strawberries and whipped cream. read more

After a hellish night, which consisted of a filthy bed bug infested hotel room, followed by a few practically sleepless hours in the car, my husband spotted this restaurant and we decided to get some breakfast. The eggs were over easy instead of over medium, but that's typical. Most restaurants can't do over medium. The English muffin was phenomenal, seriously, it made the breakfast. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was so clean. I noticed it immediately and instantly felt better. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars, is the hash browns were a touch over done, and the coffee was average. Otherwise, I'd stop here the next time we go through Muskegon. And I highly recommend it. read more
