Worst place I've ever stayed. There was blood on the sheets ask to get them changed was told house keeping would come by in the am to change them 2 days later still not changed. Mold growing under the sink on the carpet. No hot water for 2 days ask if we can get hot water was told hopefully construction will fix it today. Don't ever stay here. It's a nice place and clean inside and out. Staff very friendly. Problems I didn't like: 1) If you live within 75 miles they will take a security deposit of $250. I live 85 miles away with road closures and road constructions. They still did the security deposit. (Not sure if that is legal or not) 2) Room smelled like cigarette smoke. (Had to buy air freshener to cover up smell) 3) When taking a shower the sprayer is very HARD on your skin could not adjust it. Plus, the water was NOT hot it was lukewarm. 4) The sink faucet sprays everywhere when it's on and the drain stopper is adjusted incorrectly. When you push the stopper down to open it. It's just opens a little crack so it takes the water a long time to drain. 5) Last thing the tv is to small for the room it needs to be the next size up. I could hardly see the words or diagrams on the screen when watching the news or sports. read more

Giving the second star only because this place was a deal. We booked late so didn't have many options. The rooms were dark, saw a few bugs, and dirty floor. The shower curtain was gross. I stayed here 4 days, then 5, then 5 more, and then 3 again. I spent over 100 nights in hotels all over the country. That said, I think that it's safe to say that I can make a well-informed review. The staff: the staff is amazing. Sherri, Crystal, Borghese, and the other gentleman who helped me with my breakfast each day...they are all wonderful. Truly excellent people. Highest quality and nicest folks I've met at a hotel in a long time. The very fact that I know all their names should say a lot. Very friendly and attentive. The breakfast: They serve a hot, custom made breakfast everyday. Waffles, omelettes, bagels, etc. I really appreciated the fact that they had a hot breakfast!! It is an awesome touch!! I left feeling great each day. Nice work!! The rooms: I stayed in 4 different rooms. Everything was clean. Really clean. I did have some issues with the unreliable WiFi which was a real bummer. They had a microwave, refrigerator, quiet air conditioners, iron and ironing board, and hair dryer. And they have an indoor swimming pool and hot tub! I am a single mom of three traveling to Montrose on the weekends to look at rentals. I have an awesome job opportunity over there. I thought this hotel was pet friendly. I have a certified ESA animal. I misunderstood when I came in about things. They have now charged me an additional $250 for a pet that is a mental health service animal even though the room was left clean with zero damage. I also apologized for the misunderstandin. They claim allergy issues which in the same sentence they said service animals are allowed in all rooms. I am genuinely disappointed in the lack of moral ethics with this company read more

The hotel is nice and clean and the breakfast was nice. The staff was really great and friendly. They also give free Italian Sodas for happy hour. But... these guys need new beds. The mattresses were shot. They dipped in and my wife and I had really sore backs after sleeping on them for three nights. Also, the pool was really cold. It was indoor and I expected a heater. It was not heated, or the heater was too low. My kids had blue lips! Also, one of the days, the maids took our old towels but did not leave new ones. I had to call the front desk for towels. The room was great! We got in at 9pm tired and thankful we found a nice place to stay! The nice man at the front desk quickly got us into our room. No complaints there. However, with the hastily fashion of getting the room, the man at the desk check us into a non-pet room. I clearly prefaced that two adults and one dog would be needing a room before signing or paying for anything. The man acknowledged this and continued to hand me a paper to sign, I later found out, that said we would not bring pets or smoking into the room. It was my mistake for not reading the paper I did sign, but also needed to sign it in order to lay my head somewhere warm that night. Even on our way up to our room, we heard the desk clerk mention to a person on the phone that there was only one room left. We assume this was the reason for overlooking the pet we had mentioned. The next morning, I was carrying our bags to the car and heard an employee talking to another employee about how someone had a dog in a non-pet room and she was going to "catch them on the cameras". When we were taking our dog outside for the first time that morning, we were stopped by that same employee. She yelled at us that we allegedly failed to mention that we had brought a pet. We explained that the man the previous night knew of our furry friend. She rudely rebuttaled that she didn't care and that the fee would be $250 extra for the "damages" and cleaning of the room. We said, once again, we said we explicitly told the desk clerk two adults and one dog would be in the room. She, again, unnecessarily rudely said she did not care and we would be charged. She should probably go back and check her cameras to confirm that we didn't mention our dog. Going back inside to get some breakfast, the same woman snarkily said that she only signs things that she reads. I would not be as upset if the woman was calm and approached the situation with more customer service. She was yelling and upset like we had purposely defied the room policy. She could've had a conversation with us explaining how we were at fault, as we kind of were. Instead her attitude towards the situation makes the establishment look disorganized and unforgiving. read more

Working against the covid 19 on the frontlines as a senior resident physician left me exhausted and in need of a vacations. I decided to visit colorado with my family for a week. Things were going smooth and I was enjoying time with family when we decided to check in to " Staywise Inn" in Montrose for 2 nights. We read mostly great reviews and were excited to check in to our rooms after a long day of driving. However, I didn't feel welcomed at the front desk. The lady at the front desk (Linda, She later told us that she is the manager) was aggressive, impolite and condescending. Since we were a large group of 7 adults and 4 kids(eldest being 10 yrs old) we had 3 rooms reserved for us. (most of the hotels in the area let up to 4 kids under 18 stay for free). We went to our rooms and it was shocking to see the arm rests of the chair were torn and had underlying/cotton showing up, the screening drapes had holes and tears in it and the window screen was broken ( we were on the first floor). The other room had torn armrests of the chairs as well. We went to the front desk and asked them if it could be fixed or replaced. Linda was again aggressive and rude. She flatly refused it and said we cannot do it. We don't have budget for it and we were not aware of it but we can't do anything about it. I asked them if we can have another room and she refused that too. At this point, I told them that they could be more polite and I didnt feel welcome here at all. She was quick to suggest that we can check out. The other person who we do not know the name of, pointed towards a sign that said thag they reserve the right to refuse service( they had already checked us in). He also said that we knew about those things and another lady upstairs is complaining about the lock in her foor upstairs. He again said that we dont have budget and these things take time. I asked for the corporate's email and she rudely told me that she doesn't have it. (Strange as she said she was the manager). She then called the cops on us as if we were threatening or being aggressive to escort us off their property. She only made partial refunds at that time saying the rest will be done tomorrow. Although the cops were professionals and nice, the kids in my group and my mom were scared to see the them(with what is going on in the present times) . Anyway, we collected our stuff and left. We booked in another hotel paying more but at least the staff was friendly there and rooms were in a better shape. I am not the one to write unnecessary bad reviews but I feel as if we were racially profiled ( my brother was in the traditional arabic garb and women wear hijaab). I believe that I had earned this vacations after exhausting myself against covid-19 at work for months and deserved better than this. read more

What a lovely little hotel! We booked last minute on hotels.com on the way from Arches to Black Canyon. We arrived at 11 pm to a clean lobby and pleasant lady at the front desk. The room was super CLEAN: carpet looked and felt new (had a cute Bass print on it), the bed spread was modern and smelled fresh (this is a key factor for me, is it the modern kind of duvet comforter and crisp white sheets? Or the old school polyester, scratchy comforter with the thick, wool sheet that they may or may not have washed through the last 5 guests?). I also appreciated the little things: they left black towelettes asking that you not dirty up their white towels on items such as shoes and cars and they hung the shower curtain on the bar handle in the tub ensuring it dried from the last guest. The bed was also super comfy- felt like a pillowtop mattress (may be soft for those who love firm mattresses). The continental breakfast was excellent. The coffee was great, selection on bagels was on point (I grabbed an everything bagel), they had a waffle maker, cereal, pastries, a nice toppings selection for the waffles, Activia yogurt and a nice spread for omelettes! Yes they cooked actual eggs and had diced ham, green peppers, onions, cheese, salsa and sour cream. An added bonus is that it's so close to Black Canyon and a decent price! Definitely worth the money. It's not the Ritz, obvi.. But definitely in the higher echelon of standard travel hotels. read more

Found last minute while traveling. For those who can't carry bags up stairs and down the long hall, avoid, in case you get placed upstairs. I could handle that. In the morning, my gas cap was left dangling with the gas door open, and someone stole gas. I asked the attendant if they had cameras, and he said yes. I called later when the manager was in, and she (didn't get her name) asked what was it she wanted me to do. I said what about looking at your cameras to see if you know which local was doing this? Neither clerk was interested in the fact that someone had broken into my car, which looks suspect to me. I would never stay there again. A very uninterested response from both clerks, so don't expect to feel safe or that anyone there cares if you do get ripped off or your car gets damaged etc. read more

This hotel provides great customer service! There was a hiccup with the reservation, however is was worked out really quickly by Amanda at the front desk. The hotel was very clean and all the staff were welcoming and friendly. I managed to leave behind some belongings and was able to call and have them shipped back to me. Stayed here overnight 2 days back in October 2020. Did not serve regular breakfast, just snacks that were provided at the front desk (not sure exactly what was provided, I did not have any breakfast). Front receptionist was very nice, was able to get me cutlery from the kitchen to use for my takeout order from a restaurant nearby. The room itself was just okay. Spacious with a king size bed. Everything was clean, but just outdated. The carpet, cabinets, AC unit, toilet, and shower (the whole bathroom really) could use a renovation. Overall it was fine, just felt old. read more

Nice hotel. Very clean and the beds were really comfy. We were disappointed to find that the pool was closed for maintenance, but we were tired and probably wouldn't have used it anyway. I booked online on the hotel's website and on our way there discovered that I had mistakenly booked for the following night. It was past the cancellation deadline, but I called them and they very nicely changed my reservation to the right night and did not charge extra. After we checked in we were invited to enjoy the Hot Chocolate / Coffee bar and they even kept it going for longer than scheduled, so the rest of our party could enjoy it to. We got a great rate - you do pay extra if you have more that 2 people in a room, but it was still a good price. The breakfast was good, we really enjoyed the omelets and the pumpkin spice waffles. read more

I went to a hotel called "Stay Wise Inns" for two days (luckily not longer). Negatives: * The toilet was very weak and clogged twice. ** The first time I went number 2 (normal amount) I used a normal amount of toilet paper, result: clogged. A John Stephen Goodman-looking maintenance guy fixed it. The second time I went number 2 (normal amount of black bile, in medieval terms) and used a very small amount of toilet paper, result: clogged. It overflowed (it was like an optical illusion and I couldn't turn off the water quick enough) and being barefoot with a bit of a cut on each foot after hitting them in the swimming pool the water touched my feet and I though I might get an e coli disease (so I took a shower). * There is no sink in the bathroom. ** Wanna discreetly use the bathroom at night while everyone else is sleeping? You can't really. * The signs in the pool room are misleading. One says "deposit towels here" (meaning "deposit towels you found in the towel area marked with a sign (which said something like 'get towels here') in this room here"). Hotel staff charge people for towels missing from their room. ** There were about 4 towels in room 112. * The refrigerator makes a squishy rubber sound at night when trying to sleep. * Nitpicky: ** Using the card to open the pool room is sort of difficult. ** One sign for pool rules (not the hot tub rules) said "max of 15 people", another sign for the pool rules (not hot tube rules) said "max of 20 or 25 people" ** The place is run by Nepalese; Engrish is sort of seen in the name of the place; "Inns" should probably be singular in "Stay Wise Inns" Positives: * TV is decent, technology, placement, and channel-wise * Good hot tub and pool (in the pool you can see the time out the window on an LED sign so you know how much time you have before 10 PM, when it closes, which seems a bit early but IDK). * Has 4 pillows for each of the two beds. If I was in a bad mood I might rate this as 1 star, but I try to be positive so I have rated this as 2 stars. read more

LOCALS NOT WELCOME. We booked this hotel through a third party (hotels.com, expedia.com etc) because it looked lovely and got great reviews. Unfortunately when we arrived at check-in we were informed that they would NOT rent rooms to "locals". We were REFUSED check-in. We were then told that anyone living within a 75 mile radius can not rent a room at this hotel. Apparently the owner has had issues with "locals" damaging the rooms. Seems a bit extreme to exclude potential customers from Grand Junction, Gunnision, Ridgway, Telluride, Montrose, Delta, and others. Buyer beware! I'm still speechless. read more

I stayed at the Stay Wise Inn 7/12/18 - 7/17/18 I wanted to give this Inn 5 stars because the rooms and the property were clean and I never slept so well in a hotel (the bed was very comfortable). Unfortunately there were two major issues. Lacks good communication between manager and staff as well customer. Manager and staff constantly hanging out outside front door to the lobby on Smoke break instead of inside doing their job. I reserved a room for 5 nights nearly a year in advance. I confirmed my reservation a month in advance. The day I checked in. I was met by a very friendly and professional desk clerk who told me my room was not ready at the time. No big deal because I was early. I came back at the appropriate check in time 2 hours later. My room was still not showing available. The desk clerk went and checked the room. room was clean But was unable to make available on computer. The desk clerk said I could go ahead and move into the room and we will figure things out later. Half way through unpacking I got a call from from desk asking me to come to the desk. They were still having problem with the computer. They offered to upgrade me to the King Suite. Woo Hoo. I was told that it was only for a couple of nights until my room situation could be fixed. I was told, that more than likely I would be staying there for my entire stay but they couldn't guarantee that and I my have to move. No problem. I asked that I be given ample notice if that were to happen. Because I was going to be in and out of the hotel constantly. Two days later approximately 12:30 in the afternoon. I was at my Grand daughters birthday party. I saw that I had message on my phone from the hotel saying that I had to be out of the room because they had reserved it for another guest and that they were going to pack up my stuff and move it out of the room. I immediately called the hotel. told them that I had not received any word that I had to move as I requested. I told them not to touch my stuff as I felt that was an invasion of my privacy Not to mention against the law. I told them I will be there shortly to straighten this up. When I arrived I was told by the desk clerk (different one that who checked me in) that the manager had told me that I only had that room for 2 days and I had to be out. I told the clerk what I was told and also told her that I had never spoke to the manager. She insisted that the manager spoke to me. I told her how was that possible when the manager was off the day I checked in. The manager finally admitted to the clerk that she had not spoke directly to me. I removed my belongings from the room (half of which were bagged up). I was offered another room with two queen beds for one night. I asked about the remaining two nights of my stay. they didn't have a room available. Turns out they rented out the room I was originally supposed to stay in. I told them that was unacceptable. The desk clerk said her manager has offered to put me up at a different hotel at no cost to me. The desk clerk called other hotels but nothing was available at the price they wanted to pay. Lucky for me, another desk clerk came in to start her shift. She mentioned the person(s) who was going to stay in my room was only there for one night and said they should contact that person(s) to see if they would move into the lesser room. shortly there after. the customer came in. turns out the customer couldn't rent the room because of hotel policy (only two guest in the room. They had 5). I was put back into the suite for the remainder of my stay. Unfortunately by the time I made it back to my grand daughters birthday it was all over. The only other issue I had regard the breakfast cafe. The Breakfast that is offered is better than most offered at hotels. However, on one day the kitchen staff was hanging out behind the front desk leaving guests waiting. On another day the staff closed the breakfast cafe 20 minutes early. Myself and another guest were waiting at the omelet station for a while. Went out to the front desk to find out where the staff was. I was told they closed down early. I looked out the front window and there were two staff members and the hotel manager on smoke break. I passed on the information to the other disappointed guest. I am leery of staying at this hotel again. However, I will try again. The hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. Hope they get their act together. I travel to the Montrose area at least once a year. They will lose me as a valuable customer if they don't. read more

Our stay was a pleasant one. The staff Porter, Wyatt and Donna were all very helpful. The recommendation for Ted's Steak House for dinner was spot on . The pillows were a bit on the foam side, not as bad as some we have had though. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was a bit on the tight side. The baseboard molding needing reglueing The breakfast offerings- make your own waffles, Omelettes that you could add, cheese, chives, bacon bits, etc to, yogurt, instant oatmeal, various baked goods. Juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, no fruit that I saw. Roomy area to eat in. The pool/spa was closed for cleaning. The ac/heat unit is under the window so the curtains are always blowing when the unit is on. read more

Staywise was better than expected for the price. Our room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was good. On our trip we had been staying at Hampton inns for triple the price, and staywise gave better service and was cleaner than some. Just shows you, name brand isn't always the best way to go! Definitely would stay here again if passing through Montrose. read more
