They sent us this cute little thank you card after our stay!

Such a great little getaway. Located directly across from blue mesa lake! The little cabins have great views, were super clean and newly redone, the owners were very nice and helpful! I would highly recommend anyone to stay here! They even sent us a hand written thank you note after our stay, we will definitely be back!

We stayed Labor Day Weekend 2019 at Blue Mesa Outpost in Cabin #4. Very easy to book and when we arrived were greeted by the most friendly people in a very long time. Easy check in, great information, and directions to and about our cabin. Cabin was newly updated and stocked with everything needed for a camping/cabin/hotel stay! Grounds were super clean and organized. We stayed in Cabin #2 about 10 years ago and were very impressed with the new owners and everything else since that time. Excellent Amazing Experience! You all are amazing and we are impressed how you are running your business! Kind, considerate, respectful of everyone, and genuine people. Anyone who leaves negative comments about you all are clearly having a bad life and haven't stayed down the road . Keep up the excellent work and thank you for being amazing hosts for us all.

Pros: Friendly staff. WiFi is available (although it is kinda slow). Cell service is available here for Verizon. Beautiful view. Very pet friendly. Cons: The water pressure kept shutting off sometimes during a shower. No restaurants or grocery stores within 20miles... so be sure to bring your own food. Overall: Comfortable place for the area. Would definitely stay here again.

We just stayed for the second time in the cabins at Blue Mesa Outpost. This is one of our favorite spots now. Kelly and Steve are so kind and work hard to provide a great family friendly atmosphere and campground for both glampers like us and campers as well. We have stayed in the cabins both times and really enjoyed ourselves. The cabins aren't super fancy but if you're looking for a clean place to stay (that's also very cute) and lay your head, shower and eat then it's perfect. The outpost is literally right across the road from the lake and a 2 min drive from Lake Fork Marina.

There are 15 campsites (FCFS) plus a small parking area for day use. CR 12 and FSR 706 are not paved, but any vehicle can travel the roads. The highlight of the campground is Lost Lake, a pristine alpine lake at 9600' elevation. The Beckwith Peaks are in the background. If you paddle across the lake (SUP or kayak - no motorized water craft) you get a stunning view of the Ruby Range. (No Ruby Range photos since I didn't bring my waterproof phone case this trip). The lake is dammed and is filled with snow runoff. Even in midJuly, the water was COLD. No chance in h e l l I was going to let myself fall off that SUP! But midJuly was prime time for the wild flowers. Lupine. Queen Anne's lace. Wild rose. Pentsemon. Sneeze weed. Cow parsnip. Fire weed. Absolutely stunning. I'm told the lake is stocked twice annually with rainbow trout. But I don't fish so can't verify. I did see lots of fishermen though.

It's further out west in Colorado so it takes a bit of effort to find yourself here but you will be rewarded if you venture out west. First of all this part of Colorado is gorgeous and a bit less traveled so you'll have more space to yourself which is lovely. The canyon itself is incredible. It reminded me a lot of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone if you've ever seen that. We did several smaller hikes around the rim as we had little kids in tow. Be sure to hold onto those small hands as I was pretty nervous about them falling in since it's just a big ol' drop around the edges. All that being said, this is a great park and I'd love to return sometimes without kids or when the kids are older to do one of the bigger hikes.

I didn't know too much about the park and was a bit disappointed that we had to nix the plans to do our large hike in the North Rim of the park. That being said, BCGNP far surpassed all expectations on just our very first overlook - Tomichi Point - within minutes of driving into the South Rim. I was not prepared for the sheer beauty of the canyons. The South Rim is so very different from the North Rim, so if you only have time to go to one, make sure to do your research. The South Rim is much more developed, more popular, has plenty of tiny hikes and overlooks, and brings the easy, classic beauty. The South Rim drive is an easy 7 miles and features 12 overlooks with the longest hike to the overlook being about 0.5 of a mile. And most of the hikes are more like walks. Stunning views, perfect for sunset. You'll also find the BCGNP visitor center on the South Rim drive. The North Rim is much more underdeveloped and less visited. We visited in the late afternoon and only ran into one other group of people while driving their scenic North Rim drive. I believe it's about 4.5 miles, and it is unpaved - that being said, we drove it in a Toyota Corolla without any issues. These overlooks are equally gorgeous but give you a different perspective of the canyon. You'll find a lot of the bigger hikes in the North Rim. While we weren't able to fit one into our schedule, we did do part of the North Vista Trail to see Exclamation Point - wonderful hike, wish we had been able to do the full trail. Overall, I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I visited Black Canyon of the Gunnison, but it definitely wasn't how breathtakingly beautiful this park is. 100% worth a stop, and if all you do is stop at their overlooks, you will still get to experience so much beauty.
