We didn't stay at the log, but were renting a nearby cabin. We ate at the lodge several times and rented an ATV. The experience was great! The food and service were very good, and everyone was very friendly. Saturday evening there was a local band playing and dancing. We used the ATV to explore the amazingly beautiful alpine plateau.

We wanted a different Christmas experience and Google search showed this lodge located within an hour of Montrose Colorado. The online live web cam showed they had snow so we headed out with the snow machines. Wow! This place was great! Friendly staff; super clean pet friendly rooms with each room having a different theme and a cozy fireplace. The restaurant/bar surprisingly was open Christmas Day with tasty food and the best hand cut French fries. We had some issues with a snow machine not starting and a dead car battery when we were leaving and everyone there was so kind and helpful. Highly recommend this place. Definitely a hidden gem in the mountains with many activities in the winter and summer! Check it out!

Beautiful pet friendly cabin in arrowhead mountain. Friendly staff and well maintained vintage vibes lodge. They have restaurant as well. Only complaint that there was no internet as wifi had some issue. Sky the manager was very helpful and informative. Highly recommend this place.

Okay honest review from someone who travels the world and is in hotels 20/30 days a month. Took a vacation during Sept. Was so excited to come here for my one year wedding anniversary. I'm a mountain girl myself so I figured this place would feel like home. So from start to finish of our stay... Mon-Sat As we drove up the mountain dirt road it was well compacted and super easy drive, very beautiful scenery. The check in was as you expected, check in at 4pm we arrived at 5pm which was a mistake because they start dinner at 5 so they were kind of busy. Which again no problem we were still just super excited after our 12 hour drive to get here. Lady was super nice, checked us all in and showed us our room. Cool, we had a cute king room decorated in horse decor with a cute fireplace. No ac but you do have a fan for your window and an gas fireplace for warmth. Again no problem because high was 78 degrees and low was 40. Went downstairs for dinner and im going to be 100% honest... I had the pork sandwich and my husband had a burger, he could only eat half of it because it was dry and no seasoning... just a slab of hamburger meat, it was not cheap which okay thats fine as long as its good right. Wrong, the pork sandwich was dry, like super dry and no flavor besides the mountain of BBQ sauce I drowned it in. Beers were super cheap but I don't drink but that was cool for my husband. But yeah the food left such a bad taste that we didn't eat there throughout the rest of our stay. We just made the 50min drive to Montrose or 50min drive to Gunnison for dinner. Now that we've made it through dinner, bedtime. For being out in the middle of nowhere you had cars and rzr driving up and down the road pretty often throughout the night. But like I said I'm in hotels a ton so I'm use to the noise. Let's talk about fun activities, so the lodge sells half day and full day rzr deals anywhere from $250-$450 full day is 6 hours half day is 3 hours. We brought our truck so we just went off-roading in that. If you go right outside of the lodge you can easily do a pretty cool scenic loop and end up in Gunnison. and that took us on a 8 hour off road loop. We spent a couple days going fishing which was fun. Again bring lots of water because of elevation but being from the mountains already we knew that info. Again the towns are about an hour drive and they do have more attractions. Now let's talk about the room, so we were there 5 days and they have a cute system that you place this sign on your door handle if you need towels or if you need trash taken out.... now I've been in hotels that have hundreds of rooms and housekeeping will go through everyday and replace towels, take out trash, restock your coffee, vacuum and make the bed. This place has what 13 rooms? I truly belive this place has to rethink their housekeeping situation BIG TIME. The lady was super sweet but you'd think housekeeping would do the entire room at least once during a week long stay. Its not like I could ask for towels and trash taken out at the same time because the sign gives one or the other which was irritating. If you replace towels and see that the trash can is full you'd think oh yeah I should change.... its just pure laziness. again there's people who do hundreds of rooms... 13 should be a piece of cake.... Also side note, so they replace breakfast food in your fridge everyday, milk, yogurt, cereal and bagel. Well our first morning there... we went to grab the milk and it was open and had a good 3/4 gone I asked my husband if he had open it and he said no so we went downstairs and asked the lady if we could get a new one she apologized and said if the lids on we don't check if its been used.... uhhhh what.... so someone else's milk that they drank from was still in our fridge... yuck.. so now let's talk about the TV, when you've gone out playing all day, you've come back had food and showered now you want to relax and lay down and watch tv... wrong lol if you know Spanish its perfect! 80% of channels were in Spanish and lots of the English channels were not paid for. We couldn't even get the football game in our room my husband had to go downstairs in the lobby and watch. So most nights we just played cards or went to sleep early. Soooo all in all no this is not a 5 star hotel not even really a 4 star. Which is why this review is 3, its an honest review from a week there. The price was nice because I get discounts through my job, the staff is friendly but not thorough, and honestly bring your own groceries for food. I just believe for a remote location you shouldn't have the need to drive an hour into town. Its a hotel that we would have love to just wake up eat a good breakfast go adventure the dirt roads and fish and then come back for a good dinner. Kind of defeats the point of a remote area if you have to drive into town, especially since the draw to this place is being out in the middle of nowhere. I'd recommend this place for maybe two nights.

This sign is for the area. Not just the lodge.

Great food, fast service, in a very nice spot above Montrose. Worth the drive up a lane from Hwy 50.

The host were attentive and the B&B was within walking distance to the Main Street. They also excepted dogs and they also had a cute dog. I thought the room was cozy although my friend who actually booked the room did think it was small. It is a historical building so I think in relation to todays standards it is small but it's was built in 1898, so just know the rooms are small and enjoy the coziness. They offered a breakfast, but when we arrived the host was on the phone booking a guest. We both were a tad confused on how to proceed so we decided to leave and get on with our day. I think a bit more communication regarding the breakfast would have made it a better experience. I would definitely stay there again even with the breakfast miscommunication.

Visiting Silverton Inn of the Rockies (aka The Alma House) is like a visiting a friend's house...if…read moresaid friend owned a beautiful, painstakingly restored historic boarding house haunted by three spirits. Innkeepers Albert and Betty make The Alma House feel like your home away from home in the mountains. Before I delve into what's so great about this place (and the ghosts therein), please indulge me in some history. Bridget Hughes opened The Alma House in 1902 as a boarding house for local miners. Many mining towns died in the early 20th century, but Silverton survived, as did The Alma House, which has operated continually ever since. Current owners Albert and Betty purchased the property in the late 1980s, restoring it to its original glory. The interior is brimming with Victorian elegance, all polished mahogany, period fixtures (lamps, armoires, vanities), and antiques. Every nook features some vintage artifact, some cool story that Albert and Betty are eager to tell. I could have spent a week here and still not seen everything. The amenities are the best of both worlds: vintage Victorian and modern. For every quaint touch (old-school physical door keys, narrow, vertigo-inducing staircases), you'll find something modern and convenient, such as WiFi and renovated bathrooms with shower heads tall enough for non-midget boarders. Every morning, Albert will whip up a delightful complimentary breakfast that could include just about anything. On the day I visited, my breakfast consisted of perfectly scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, a mini biscuit topped with mushroom gravy, a "breakfast slaw" of cabbage, strawberries, apples, feta, and poppyseed dressing, and a mini waffle sandwich with whipped cream and blueberry compote. You won't find a breakfast of this caliber at a chain hotel. Oh, you want to hear about the ghosts? I thought you'd never ask! The moment I crossed the threshold, I sensed the presence of three spirits. I said nothing to Betty and Albert, as I feared they would take me for a loon. As an investigator of all things paranormal, though, I had to know if my clairsentience was accurate. That evening, I broke out my instrumental trans-communication equipment and conducted a session in my room. Within minutes, I reached a male spirit identifying himself as "Mark." He revealed himself to me mentally as a man decked out in late 19th-century military garb, but his face was blurry. "Mark" spoke the names "Albert" and "Elizabeth" (Betty) and said that he chose to remain there. I was still hesitant to broach the subject of spooks and specters with the innkeepers, but I screwed up my courage and went downstairs to discuss my findings with Betty. She smiled warmly and confided in me that the Alma House is indeed haunted by three spirits, one of whom (an older man nicknamed "The General") has been seen/felt/heard in my room (#3, The Alamosa Room) and the room next door (#5, The Silver Vista). The other two spirits, she continued, are those of Bridget Hughes and a portly woman nicknamed "The Schoolmarm." Later that night, I meditated and called upon Mrs. Hughes. For this session, I decided to use only my new EMF detector, The Rook. I had already done a baseline sweep of the room and found no EMF readings. I did this to rule out any false positives. I asked Mrs. Hughes to step forward and make The Rook flash once for "yes" and twice for "no." To my surprise, she (or whomever was in the room) obliged, setting off The Rook only when asked a yes/no question. I learned that she approved of the current innkeepers, disliked The General, and considered my Nickelodeon pajama bottoms tacky. The next time you visit Silverton, skip the overpriced, overhyped Wyman and Grand Imperial and book a room at The Alma House. Back in its storied history, relax, and make two new friends...and maybe three new dead friends.
