Loved this place!! We will be staying here again in the future. Cabin like rooms, very clean, dog friendly, very friendly staff. Pool and hot tub in good shape! We stayed in the wildlife room! I prefer this place over a chain hotel 100%. Short/ beautiful drive to telluride!

This place is so Fun! Great country themed rooms. Very clean and taken care of. Staff was friendly as well. We stayed in the Wildlife room and it was very cozy like staying in our own private cabin.

View from my cute room! Sliding glass window.

I stumbled on this place by searching Yelp and I'm so glad I did! It is darling and the owners are very warm and friendly. Plus, you get greeted (behind a doggie gate) by the sweetest, most "goodest" dogs. My room was super cute, comfy, and clean, with beautiful views of the greenery and crystal clear pool. Bed and pillows were warm and cozy. Jeff and Jennifer are very nice people, and this place is a gem, huge recommend!

One of the fun parts in taking an impromptu trip is finding hidden gems like this pristinely maintained vintage motel in Montrose, CO. It was like stepping back in time to the era of the Great American Road Trip. We also enjoyed chatting with the owner.

Clean, comfortable, and cheerful stay- 1950's Americana at its best! Morning coffee, water, and candy bowl were offered in lobby. We had a room with a patio door going out into the courtyard garden with heated pool and hot tub and we loved the relaxed, retro vibe.

The Country Lodge is a small, country-style hotel in Montrose. Rates are very reasonable and everything is spotlessly clean. The innkeeper, Jeff, provides breakfast conversation and the personal touch to a great experience. I took a chance on staying here with the family for 11 days over Thanksgiving and we couldn't have had a better experience! The facility is old, but that is part of the charm. Each room is different and cozy. Linens are clean, good-smelling, there is plenty of hot water, extra space heaters where needed. We stayed in Room 15, which is a suite with a nice, small kitchen, comfortable living room and a large, separate master bedroom. A simple breakfast of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, fruit, oatmeal, and lively conversation with Jeff and other guests are waiting around a big wooden table. I commented that the shower head was a bit clogged and Jeff immediately fixed the issue. Given the competitive pricing, personal attention, extra-clean rooms and linens, we'll definitely be back next year!

Beautiful trees front of the property.

So clean, cozy, perfect! Safe. Five out of five stars. Incredibly safer than the Days Inn across the street!

I recently completed a two-week, 4700 mile motorcycle ride and stopped here one night. The room was charming and the service was excellent.

The price we were charged ($150/night) may be…read morea function of proximity to Telluride and/or a lack of lodging options in Montrose, i.e. lack of competition. That said, please note the following in regards to room 14. 1) First impression of the room was that the queen bed was noticeably undersized for the available space. Note the photo showing nearly 4 feet of space from the bed to the wall with the window. A king bed could easily fit in the space providing more comfort/space for guests if that's important to hotel mgt. 2) A/C units are typically mounted to the wall below the window near the entry door which provides a short distance for air to travel to keep guests comfortable. However, the A/C unit was tucked away on the opposite side of the room in the "closet" area. Clothes hanging partially blocked airflow requiring the unit to be on more than necessary (energy efficiency?). See photo of AC unit with damage. 3) The bathroom though functional was barely big enough for me to turn around in and I'm not rotund. It was so small the second set of towels, the hair dryer and the extra roll of toilet paper were stored on the shelf above the "closet" (see photo). No place for them in the bathroom. The sink/vanity measured only 17 inches across (see photo). Never seen a sink/vanity that small in a hotel. 4) The door had no security hardware other than the handle to open it. No latch, no quarter turn deadbolt, no chain. 5) There was a dent in the drywall next to the bathroom door. 6) The room had only two pillows on the bed at check in. Typically hotels have 2 per person. We called/ texted the front desk to get more pillows - no response. When we got back from dinner, still no additional pillows. I went to the front desk, nobody around, no bell to ring. There were some doors next to the front desk so I knocked. Someone popped out immediately but seemed annoyed that I knocked - it was a private residence. At this point I didn't care about that. The fact that I had to come to the office because we got no response to our call/text was lost on him. I'm okay with $150/night if there is value with that price. This place is not worth $150. Look elsewhere for lodging if you can.

Newly refurbished rooms,…read moreclean, easy parking in front of your room, but on a main road so there's some traffic noise. The room, although clean and remodeled, was sparsely equipped - no chair to sit on, no table, no cups, glasses, or coffee - pretty much nothing but a bed, which was okay for sleeping. The granola bar, instant oatmeal cups and fruit breakfast was sort of in keeping with their minimalist approach to room decor, but was appreciated I guess.

My son said I should give five stars, but I just can't…read more To start with. Very clean, the staff was helpful, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the black out curtains actually worked and they had a nice outdoor hot tub. Also, the water pressure was relatively high. I hate it when the shower is little more than a mist, but this place gave me a real shower. These are all good things for which I was happy about. However, I don't give five stars unless it is outstanding. So the reason it wasn't five star. The toilet didn't flush. I easily fixed it by re attaching the flapper to the handle, but I shouldn't have to fix a toilet. The shower handle was coming off and I had to really adjust it hard to get the shower to work. Also, the breakfast was just average for a hotel, nothing exciting. So overall my experience was 4+, I'd certainly recommend it.

There were leftover chips under the bed (we saw this accidentally while checking for bed bugs). The chips seemed stale which told us that these parts by the corners of the beds were not regularly cleaned. Aside from the dirtiness of the room, everything else was very standard for a 2-star hotel. There was an AC unit which was helpful for a summer stay, towels and a fridge. There were lots of other add-ons, but it felt very crammed. I wouldn't recommend this place to others unless they felt there weren't other options available.

At one point, maintenance entered my room while I was away without any notice beforehand. I was also required to switch rooms for a night because of plumbing problems and then move back again the next morning, which was extremely inconvenient after long workdays. What concerned me most was staff later attempting to open my room door without knocking while I was inside the room. As a paying guest, that felt completely inappropriate and invasive. After checkout, I was told my $50 deposit would be kept because the bathroom was "dirty," towels were "stained," and food had been left in the refrigerator. Considering I spent most of my time away working and was mainly only there to sleep, I did not feel those claims justified withholding my deposit. The room itself was not damaged in any way. Overall, the experience left me feeling uncomfortable and poorly treated as a guest. Better communication, professionalism, and respect for guest privacy would go a long way here.
