I've been right in the middle of loading my car a few times now and was asked to move my car so they could get the truck out. Not convenient at all when I'm in the middle of loading my car. Also, I think it's outrageous that we cannot use the dumpster considering the amount of money we pay. I have shipments come in regularly and the fact that I have to load all my empty boxes & trash into my car and haul away is very annoying. Lastly, the automatic lights in the temperature controlled units don't work half the time or the lightbulbs are burnt out for months on end. I've had to access my unit in the dark many times.

She booked the storage to keep her stuff at the end of Spring semester. She moved her items to storage by 23rd of the month and booked the apartment. The apartment accepted the booking but did not tell exact date of providing the keys. In July The apartment confirmed that she will get the keys on 8/25. Storage told us that if we do not empty the storage by 8/22 then whole month of rent will be charged as per the lease agreement. I requested the manager that kids might not have thought about it, so please charge pro-rated till 25th and if on 25th the storage is not vacated then they can charge for the whole month. The manager did not accept and told us that if she charge us pro-rated rent, then her owner will fire her and she will loose her job. Legally, she may be correct, but then they should not all themselves "most customer friendly". In my view, they are least customer friendly as they could not accommodate her request to charge prorated fees for only 3 days. My daughter has to stay in MSU for few more years and will need storage again. Lesson learnt, do not go to CubeSmart, they are least customer friendly.

That said, I rented a unit at this facility to move my daughters things out of her dorm at Michigan State University on 4/25 and the agreed upon rate was $69.95. This seemed reasonable to me and I explained I would likely need the unit for approximately 4 months until the MSU fall semester starts. This all seems fine and good to start however, I received notice less than 10 days after renting the unit on 5/3 that my rent was going to go up to $139.95. I called the facility and the young lady I spoke to was very kind and was certainly between a rock and a hard place. She informed me this has happened to over a hundred other customers like me. I sincerely felt bad for her being put in the position to tell so many customers of this awful practice. It occurs to me that the owners apparently saw the demand escalate so they raised the prices on everyone like myself! The owner simply recognized he had me and other customers over a barrel. Look, I live in Florida so he is playing on the fact the cost to fly back up, rent a car, get a hotel, and find another unit is not going to happen, so in essence we are stuck. This really has the appearance of a bait and switch, and at a minimum really feels predatory. To be clear this is not my first time with a storage unit. I have 3 storage units, 2 in FL and 1 in UT and not one of the 3 has ever raised rates in less than 6 months much less 10 days. In fact as best as I can recall they only raise rents once per year, and I have had these units for over 8 years. So at the end of the day I am stuck, until my daughter goes back to school in the fall. I will just say beware of this facility look around at other places, that will not take advantage of their customers!

The quote was around $2500-$2800, but we were only charged about half of that because they ran out of truck before we ran out of stuff. One of the movers told me they didn't like moving televisions, couldn't I just take that 80" TV in my car because they didn't have the proper equipment with them to move them. They made one load and we spent the next 4 days lifting and moving stuff in our vehicles--something we tried to avoid by hiring movers. This service was not worth the high cost of having to move things ourselves. We had used the service twice before, but never again.
