Live After 5 has been a BR event for decades now, highlighting local musicians and artists. Several food and alcohol vendors are set up if you need something, there's a VIP area, and the Davis Rhoer Plaza has a large lawn for seating. This year (Spring 2025), they have added some special touches, including presentations from the Baton Rouge Music Studio artists, young students who are learning to hone their skills showcase their talent for the attendees. Well behaved animals and children are welcome. They discourage you bringing your own libations, but just don't be obnoxious about it, and you're fine. Parking is all over downtown, the garage, the streets, lots (be sure you pay if you park in a lot). And then once the music wraps up, just head to any of the local bars as they usually have more live music to extend your day!

I knew that the band leader Ray Benson had been really sick during the pandemic, so I was glad to see him playing and singing quite well. I love that every year there are tons of families with members of all ages running and walking the routes. It's a fun way for people who don't go downtown much to see the area, and it's a great way to start your day! And another plus, you go down there, you run or walk, you hang around after for pictures and fun, and you still should get home in time to see some of the TV parade and start or finish up your big meal cooking! Best of all, this is a big fundraising race for all sorts of non-profits benefitting children in our community, including Ainsley's Angels and March of Dimes. This race is put on by FreshJunkie Racing, so it's always top notch! Be the family that runs a 5k on a holiday!! It's so much fun!!

The parking can be a bit tricky for some who haven't been yet but it's easy to figure out. I love the atmosphere and how they pay attention to a wide variety of scenes from Emo and Goth Nights to Disco and Fairy Raves. The staff is always nice and the service runs smooth every time. The bar seems to provide drinks quickly throughout the night. I've never had a bad experience at Chelsea's even when I lost my phone and I will continue to attend concerts and shows there. I've brought all my friends and they've all had a great time as well. Definitely in my go to places for a fun night out alone or with friends!

Waze tends to send to through some areas I don't want to drive solo through, so I usually detour. Parking can be slightly sketch at night, and be aware if you're in heels, you may have to park in gravel/large rocks under the interstate. You are parking at your own risk, so don't leave valuables out. Staff is always there to greet you with a smile. I've never encountered any employee there who didn't seem to be in a pretty good mood. The floor space is large with lots of standing room. Depending on the event, they'll throw some high top tables around. There are two bars, each pretty big, and the bartenders are very attentive, looking around for the next person to serve (which is good because I am short and can get lost under some people). The drinks are a bit pricey, but the liquor is pretty good with a variety. The private events I have attended were well run and staff members were very helpful for those who rented it. The public events are also very well done. Chelsea's Live brings in some pretty big names, so keep your eye out for future events. They also highlight local artists. The stage is high enough to where you can see who's on it no matter where you are in the place. I do wish it was a little easier to get to, but it is certainly worth attending some great shows there!

Fraziers' Homestead is a wonderful spot! We went during December, and honestly, the cold weather made it perfect (otherwise I'd be profusely sweating while riding). Our guide was friendly and constantly checked in on us and our horses to make sure we were getting the most from our trail ride. We even saw the owner and shared a good laugh about the "intricacies" of staying on top of the horse. The trail was pretty with bushes and trees filling the space and even a portion where we saw the rest of their horses- I miss it! My only critique would be that the trail ride, for me, was not as long as I would have liked. To be fair, though, I could ride alllll day. This place is great because once you're finished with your trail, you get to go back to their arena and practice riding and/or trotting some more. If you're curious about $$$, I would have no problem paying again. It was 3 of us, and I want to say it was about ~$67/person not including tip. I definitely hope to go back soon and who knows- maybe even get the same horse :).

This is a BREC park in a quiet subdivision located near St. Patrick's Catholic church. The park is at the end of a short street (3-4 houses) which at end of street you enter the park. On the left are two old (concrete surface) tennis courts which on 1 side has 2 basketball goals. Past the tennis court is. A softball/baseball field which is also used for an open field for larger activities. Across the tennis courts is a kids playground which in the last 2 years has had its equipment updated--i e NEW playground area for the children!! On the same side as the playground is an indoor BREC center but the only time I have seen it open is when an election occurs and people are voting---I feel certain there are activities available but I have never had the interest to check. So you have tennis courts, basketball goals, a softball/baseball field, playground, some sort of indoor facility, and an open grassy area.-----not a bad place. In the rear of the park as well as in the playground area are also picnic tables. During my visit here over the years I have seen tennis, basketball, baseball, football practice, golf ball hitting, frisbee, use of the playground, picnics, people walking around the perimeter for exercise/nature, and dog walking to name a few things---so if people have been utilizing this park for all these activities and appeared to be enjoying themselves then i must give this place 4 stars.
